The problem is they needed time to find something to use to reach him. And yeah, you can't see shit the last few minutes, but you could still hear them talking about the rescue.

I am NOT pretty much sure that you even barely understand the language they speak, but they are trying to look for some ropes and are trying to find out the way to save the person. Be aware of the fact that the first floor of vid's recorders house had already been sunk down under the water. You can easily realize it by watching the vid where the similar house across the road is in the same situation. They were only able to do their best within the small space they were in.

当時仕事中に地震に遭遇して（愛知県豊田市は震度４）

その後普通に仕事をしてたんだけど、家に帰ってきて

テレビをつけたらひどい津波に襲われた事を知りました。

OK, I think I understand why you do complain the black-out video of the second-half while others don't.

The blacked-out one does't show anything on the screen but its does show (or hear should I write?) how video recording persons tried to rescue the person who was also on the screen.

So the blacked-out screen is NOT nothing, but giving us some informative images in their mother language.
