what a great song and what a great film scene: the day before the king's coronation and he imagines all the people cheering and yelling: God save the King!
there's something so refreshing about this song and the whole movie! love it! alongside inception and lord of the rings one of the best movies of all time!!
I love how this track begins, sounding almost like a child starting on the piano, but as it builds the song becomes more dense. By the end the simple piano playing from the beginning changes into a more creative and better developed tune. The song does an excellent job, musically, of telling the visual story. The soundtrack overall was great, and the movie was excellent, in my opinion.
Anyone know what the song he's listening to before he puts on the record of his own speaking (reading some shakespeare)? I know it's not in the sound track, but I'm still curious
Well, I also love the music of Desplat, but I think genius is something that will still be listened to in five hundred years because there was something new in it or special. This is great, but genius is a different kind of thing. Which is the reason he uses Beethoven in his soundtrack, because Desplat himself knows that there is something about Beethoven that is really genius and will never be achieved by him or other modern soundtrack componists...will anyone listen to Desplat in 500 years?!?
@23stinki don't make too much out of it, you can't just say relatively to Beethoven, Desplat is not a genius, it's not fair, but if you say relatively to someone like Atticus Ross and that other fellow i forgot his name, yeah Desplat is a major genius. he's great at what he does, don't ruin him by comparing him to Beethoven ^^
can you point out someone from recent times that will be listened to in 500 years like beethoven?
I fell in love with this film; I can say, with warmth in my heart, that this movie had me feeling far from robbed of my money. I KNOW it will be a very long time before another film deserving nothing but praise and admiration will come along.
How about my movie about LOU LOU the Stuttering Boxer I! It was the price of The King's Speech lunch budget... SAVE IT ON NETFLIX under it's title RevoLOUtion so we can get a better license fee!!! It's already on there but not avail... we released it experimentally (free)in NY/LA, now i'm tweaking it, hopefull shooting two more scenes in spring summer 2011 - I look forward to your comments - and if you like you can comment on the additional scenes we are shooting at facebook under LOU LOU
The first 40 seconds. I heard it somewhere and it was not in this film or this song, mean after 40 sec it sound different.

It just goes to show how effective orchestration can make even the simplest of ideas sound delightful. Bravo!

I love this song from the soundtrack... it should've either been King's Speech or Inception winning for Best Original Score at the Oscars.

The best scene in the movie for me, apart from the ending obviously! I love how the music soars along with Geoffrey Rush :D

I didn't notice this music when I watched the film tonight.
That's the greatest compliment I can give - it enhanced the mood while being completely unobtrusive.

i think the music is played during the rehearsal for King George VI coronation, the scene when Lionel takes a seat on St. Edward's Chair.

@Nathanderweise8 You're right, when Lionel is repeating all the official speech !
Great song for a Great film. Those actors are awesome
