dont even lift the rev limiter wil hold at 6500. drive it like you stole it i run the traps at 13.6 with a slight feather on the clutch however exedy dual stage clutch is on the floor waiting to be installed.
Alot of cobalt ss/sc drivers do this cause 1st gear is so low . When you spin the tires so quick in 1st gear and shift, the car isn't moving fast enough (20mph maybe) to take the high rpm's into 2nd . You have to pedal it in 1st to get the car moving without tire spin, up to atleast 6K then hit 2nd. If you dont somethings got to give and its going to be the clutch.
good pointers..but the thing that should be giving is your tires..my bros cavy can burnout in 2nd from a stand still so theres evidence that the cobalt clutches are shit lol
Does he have 18" wheels and tire's. The stock pirelli's aren't the best but they do have decent grip. I'm not saying the SS/SC clutches are the best but they are enough to handle stage 2 hp if not abused too much. There are some guys that are pushing 350 WHEEL HP and still have the stock clutch.
HAHAHA , do some research before calling someone out.
There was a SS/SC turbo swapped car back then that put well over 350 to the ground on the stock clutch . The guys name is paul and he has video's up here to prove it. He ran the stock clutch for months before upgrading it .
He wasn't the only one , there were a few others as well. So before you come in here trying to sound like some expert , do more reading and less typing
There were guys putting over 350 to the wheels 9 months ago..... where the fuck did i say it was on a stock M62. If you don't think that 350 hp was achieved 9 months ago your fucking retarded.
I know the limits of the heaton .... This whole disscussion was about the stock clutch...so why the fuck did you comment in the first place??? O yeah to tell me 350WHP wasn't possible when i made the above comment...hahah they've been turbo swapping alot longer than that. Like i said go do some reading
i only read up to the 350whp part, thinking you were saying people were making that on the eaton, thats where i was coming from.
no argument with the 350 on the stock clutch from a turbo LSJ.
turbos seem less brutal on components than the s/c to begin with.
numerous people on RLF have kept the stock clutch on with the eaton and made 260-280whp,clutch didn't like it, but it took it haha. hence why everyone upgrades to spec 3 or exedy eventually.
I had to add that if you want to get to 60 mph fastly, you may not go WOT in first gear with no traction mod and stock tires because you will just not stick to the road with this car. I said that but I dont know if you have any traction mods... do you have any?
Try to get traction before going into 2nd gear. Many SS/SC users have this problem when they go into 2nd gear while getting not traction at the end of the 1st gear. Try this and post again a video. Moreover, try to be in 2nd at lets say 4000 RPM (where it is supposed to be when you shift at redline in first) and then go full throttle. Lets see if you slip the clutch again. Im not saying that you will not slip it again... but try this and you may be surprised :)
this started happening to me lately and has been driving me nuts. i run a 235/40/r18 falken 452 on them and i will shift at 5-6k rpm and slip second even though there is no tire spin. i will try your advice on shifting lower and see if the powerband is low enough for the clutch to grab. thanks for the advice

guys pushing 350 wheel hp?
really?
thats funny seeing as how anything over 300 roughly will overspin the m62 and bye bye s/c and engine.
with the harrop tvs, 350s now possible, but not when you left this comment hahahaha.

wow man. are you serious?
when did i ever say anything remotley close to a clutch?
are you fucking retarted?
the m62, you know, the supercharger that comes on the ss/sc and ion redlines, thats not a clutch you moron.
im talking about 300+hp will overspin the fucking m62, so you'd have to upgrade to the harrop tvs, or a turbo, if you wanna put out higher numbers.
never said anything about the clutches you royal loss.

It's all good.
I agree the HEATON isn't capable of anywhere near 350 whp , they just don't have it in them.
Anyways sorry for the misunderstanding.
