The impression Europeans get from this video is of being a very desolate place; very isolated. There's nobody walking the streets. Everything is far apart and if you don't have a car, you're pretty much dead in a place like this. This is a very depressing place indeed! Why doesn't anybody farm all that empty land? No jobs? @alpidistra It depends on where you go. There are areas where you'll find people walking and cars cruising around. But there are many areas in Florida that look like this. A lot of it is a result of the recent housing boom (2004-2006).
Without a car, you're shit out of luck in this country, NYC being one exception. I work with someone who drives 85 miles EACH WAY to and from work. Many coworkers of mine drive between Orlando and Melbourne everyday, about 60-75 miles each away.
Down in Palm Beach, it's pretty much the same. In my neighborhood, everyone's home is literally empty. Unfortunately, our home (which we bought with real cash) suffered in profit... So, what was worth nearly 800,000$ in cash is now.... Much less. Obama just.... Made Bush look better.
