I agree. THere needs to be more black of a black presense in fighting games and a little variety in fighting styles would be nice. Black guys in fighting games are always boxers or thugs. Except Raven which admittedly was a pretty cool black ninja. And El Fuerte...mexican in a fighter. Nice. But otherwise...they all seem to be the same people just with different names. Would be cool. The funny thing is that these games are made in japan and they have moer of a white presense than anything. .

Honestly, if they put Eddy and/or Christie in Street Fighter X Tekken but no Elena I'm going to RAGE QUIT Capcom. They already pissed me off with Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. The only game I'm interested in is Operation Raccoon City.
Christie may be Brazilian but she's modeled after Tyra Banks who's a black woman just so ya know. Also why does Elena or any other black woman having white hair just oh so unnatural? Japanese and white characters get to have pink, blue and whatever color hair and not have their ethnicity come into question, so please with the double standards.

No one is denying her roots. There is a such thing as being Afro-Brazillian along with White Brazillian, Mixed Brazillian, and, yes, Asian Brazillian. The point is we love Christie and we want to see her in the game. We want the women who are over looked by the gaming community inside of this game, the very same types of women who have supported these games for years.
To be fair, not all black women have been neglected from fighting games. Storm from X men is black and she's in MvC 3! But you're right! Elena deserve to be back!

Virtua Fighter = Vanessa
Tekken = Christie (seems mixed to me though)
Street Fighter = Elena
Mortal Kombat = Jade, Tanya (Has the most Blacks, next is Street Fighter)
Capcom Vs. = Storm
Don't know any in King of Fighters, but Soul Calibur has none. Also, not only does almost all games have at least one Black guy, he always does boxing, kickboxing/muay thai, or capoeira. Maybe wresting somewhere, and whatever Seth (KOF) does.
@dollargig Sunuvabitch! I haven't played DOA4 in a while. I forgot about her... well, the game itself. There's even a video to the right with her. Mostly boxers, kickboxers, and Caporistas. Only one that does Karate was Marco from KOF, though he has a Latino name.

@dollargig KOF did have two. One was of the Psycho Team in one game, and the other, um... blonde short hair, cropped white shirt, green pants... I may be wrong.

Seems like the only way to solve this issue is to make a customization mode for alternate costumes like in CVS2 or Blaz Blue. Then so and so could stfu and give Ryu, Zangief, Chun li, Cammy, or whoever an alternate skin tone. Hm.... A black Ryu...
LOL I've never thought of Christie as black. I'm Puerto Rican and have friends and family who are brown (not tan, BROWN like the Crayola color). But the they don't have African facial features (lips, nose, etc)so we really don't think of them as black, not even they do. I think a more important point to make is that fighting games don't feature any REALLY black characters. They're always light skinned with the same face model as the "white" girls. It's like they think they're playing it safe.

There are black people in both these games. There are women in both of these games. There's your diversity. How about campaigning for a social group that really doesn't have representation?
Christie is NOT black. She is latin american. I´m a brazilian myself so I can speak for "her". Most brazilians (and latin americans) are multiracial. We don´t have this "black/white" division.
If you want the proper term, you can call her "mulatto" (mix of white and black) but since she looks like a common latin/brazilian girl, she certainly has some indigenous origin as well.
To sum it up, her ethnicy is latin, not black. Sorry, but youre going for the wrong "cause".
I dunno. I agree that a should be more black female characters, but I'd like to have one that doesn't look like a whore (I'm looking at you Christie). As for Elena, I just don't find her to be an interesting character. I think they could've done better with her.

You got black men like Dudley and Balrog, you got Raven, Eddie, and Bruce, but there's always one to none black woman in a video game. I like Sheva from Resident Evil 5, many people think it's racist because it's in Africa. You can even create black characters in Soul Calibur, but they're not main characters. We need to see more chocolate women in games.

@RobotMasterSplash the way I see it, everybody has a different style of playing, and everyone likes different fighters for how they compliment that style. Im sure there are some pretty talented Elena players out there that would dominate, just like im sure people out there can dominate with Dan T T and also, theyre fighting games. Theyre suppose to have character unique challenges. Its suppose to be fun learning how a character plays. If you cant play well with her, its not because shes garbage

@RobotMasterSplash to be honest, I could care less about Elena. Her character design had to details and wasn't original at all. But I did seen this to Capcom to make them aware... and mostly to get Christe in the game. But agreed, they need more interesting black characters in fighters

Some of the major fighting games have Black girls:
Virtua Fighter = Vanessa
Tekken = Christie (seems mixed to me though)
Street Fighter = Elena
Mortal Kombat = Jade, Tanya (Has the most Blacks, next is Street Fighter)
Capcom Vs. = Storm
Don't know any in King of Fighters, but Soul Calibur has none. Also, not only does almost all games have at least one Black guy, he always does boxing, kickboxing/muay thai, or capoeira. Maybe wresting somewhere, and whatever Seth (KOF) does.

@dollargig Sunuvabitch! I haven't played DOA4 in a while. I forgot about her... well, the game itself. There's even a video to the right with her. Mostly boxers, kickboxers, and Caporistas. Only one that does Karate was Marco from KOF, though he has a Latino name.

I agree with this Video!! The already have too many White and Asian fighters with Karate & Kung Fu styles in SSF4 already. Don't know why they don't let Elena in!

If you are opposed to or have no interest in having more brown characters (especially brown females) in video games then you really should piss off. Gamers of all colour spectrums have had to sit around and play white and the rest of the fair-skinned cast for ages and it's been fun but it is getting boring. I'm all for aesthetic variety. Get out of my way.

@bawokoroma Actually, its mostly Asian in terms of fighting games; but yeah Elena should be in another Capcom fighter, mainly due to least amount of popular 2D caporaie fighters. Like, for example, Bob Wilson of Fatal Fury.

@brucenatelee Seth is black, but I don't know for that girl though. Fatal Fury has Bob Wilsoln, Art of Fighting has Mickey Roger, and I think Samurai Showdown has some as . . . of wait those are males.
So I guess maybe that little girl is the only black female in SNK games (unless that one archer chick from Samurai Showdown counts as another).

@dollargig Seriously, SNK needs to make a game with everybody. I thought Seth was the only one, besides the guys from some fighting game with sports (not Rival Schools). In KOF 2002, they are in the background of a level, basketball and football users.

Seems like the only way to solve this issue is to make a customization mode for alternate costumes like in CVS2 or Blaz Blue. Then so and so could stfu and give Ryu, Zangief, Chun li, Cammy, or whoever an alternate skin tone. Hm.... A black Ryu...

LOL I've never thought of Christie as black. I'm Puerto Rican and have friends and family who are brown (not tan, BROWN like the Crayola color). But the they don't have African facial features (lips, nose, etc)so we really don't think of them as black, not even they do. I think a more important point to make is that fighting games don't feature any REALLY black characters. They're always light skinned with the same face model as the "white" girls. It's like they think they're playing it safe.

@part1of2 Not even all black people have strong african facial features. Black genetics are extremely varied. Your cousins would be moreno a.k.a black/brown. Bein' black really doesnt have to do with bein' straight up african, it means of AFRICAN DESCENT, your ancestors, and people often forget how diluted the gene is. It's like sayin' someone who's black but has a" lighter " complexion isn't black. Wether a skittle is red, green, yellow, orange, or puple, it's still a skittle. -lolz

Christie is NOT black. She is latin american. I´m a brazilian myself so I can speak for "her". Most brazilians (and latin americans) are multiracial. We don´t have this "black/white" division.
If you want the proper term, you can call her "mulatto" (mix of white and black) but since she looks like a common latin/brazilian girl, she certainly has some indigenous origin as well.
To sum it up, her ethnicy is latin, not black. Sorry, but youre going for the wrong "cause".
And Dudley is hindi.

@Chuckwunoso I want to see Elena in SSF4 too. She's a great character and they need more chocolate women in video games, not just one. You got black men like Dudley and Balrog, you got Raven, Eddie, and Bruce, but there's always one to none black woman in a video game. I like Sheva from Resident Evil 5, many people think it's racist because it's in Africa. You can even create black characters in Soul Calibur, but they're not main characters. We need to see more chocolate women in games.
