  • bit of class that was.

  • forget what happened to Ricky Ponting the last few years look at what the man has achieved it's hard for a proud English man to say this but what a legend the man is and he should receive a warm welcome in our country when he visits us

  • He looks like George W Bush...

  • This is just a normal mobile video. Next time this stupid jackass uploader will upload his jerk off and shitting videos too.

  • @farhan020328 bitter indian or pakistani - don't you want to comment on Ponting's gesture - havent ever seen Indian players behave like this

  • Thats what you do in any game of cricket. Win or lose. Big woopee. He has to do that and it does not make him a really great guy. The selectors got it wrong when they appointed Ponting as captain. Top batsman yes. Captain No.

  • What the hell, this is just normal after a game .. the whole Aussie team was there, and all other teams also do the same thing, nothing special from Ponting here!

  • Thrice.

  • WAS a quality batsmen and IS an awful captain. END OF STORY!

  • @mrmattymuldoon :and am really not sure about the sporty department either.

  • *Ahem* - I believe he's lost the Ashes thrice, actually...

  • Ponting is an overrated batting hack.

  • @geniusumistian

Are you serious his one of the legends of the game.

No England batsman is anywhere near him.

  • @1995lukeya He's a "has been". The sooner he retires, the better. It seems he can't really bat when under pressure as a captain, in the past he had a great team and he rided on their success and extracted confidence through them. Now when he has a very below standard team, he can't even buy a run. On current form, anyone of the top 4 English batsman are better than Ponting. "Run ricky run", tbh.

  • @geniusumistian 1995lukeya is referring to the fact that he is a legend of the game. The top 4 of the English batting line up are nowhere near it, at least yet anyway. You can make arguments that Ponting could be in an All Time World XI squad, whereas you couldn't make an argument that Andrew Strauss be in that squad.

  • @jawsboris72 For me, to be a legend of a game you need to behave like one. Unfortunately, Ponting's career has been marred by silly behaviour like in the previous test. A lot of people will only remember him for his constant moaning at umpires and generally just being arrogant (I remember one article on him where he was involved in pushing some official off stage). It seems the Aussie selecters have had enough of him - given his exclusion from the final test due to a "finger injury".

  • @geniusumistian You are referring to his captaincy, not his batting. He is a batting legend, not a captaincy legend. They are two completely different facets to his game. Bradman was considered a not-so-nice person to many, but he is still a legend, right?

As mere spectators we can't comment on all areas of his captaincy, though. I'm not a Ponting supporter, but who are we to say he is an arrogant man? We can't see into the change rooms to know.

  • @geniusumistian shut yo mouth dude, punter led us to a 5-0 ashes victory not long after losing in england... it was one of the most dominant displays in cricketing history and he starred in that series with his batting and his aggresive captaincy, remember adelaide? with over 12,000 runs and about 80% win ratio he will be remembered as a LEGEND

    lawyered

  • @stanfojizz First of all, I'm typing, so I don't know what shutting my mouth will accomplish for you. Australia won the Ashes 5-0 because you had great players, not because of Ponting's captaincy. Since those players left, Ponting hasn't exactly been a legendary captain, has he?

  • @geniusumistian Ponting had a broken finger from the Perth test. He played the 4th test and after that his surgeon said he needed surgery to be fit for the World cup. Thats why he didn't play in the sydney test no because the selectors have had enough of him!

  • @1995lukeya

I think you will find, as from today, several English batsmen have passed him, in Australia.

  • i couldnt really see what happended did he bow down to freddie?

  • I think he does this after all test matches?

  • What a nice guy ... Class act

  • What a gent.

  • Possibly the worst camera work I'v ever seen.

  • hero

  • legend

  • I feel proud and patriotic when i see Ponting commanding his army in the slips.

  • Had to be Australia with the camera upside down.

  • tosser!

  • classy guy

  • fuuuckkk pontinggg wiffffe

  • fuck ponting wife

  • @db9myk First .....Ponting and the Australian team fuck your wife. ^^)

  • Great captain

  • great player, always up for a bit of banter with the crowd, shame he wasn't english, cracking batsman

  • Did you all spot David Blunkett towards the end of the clip? lol

  • great player, great sportsman. booing this guy is shameful

  • pontings a legend...one of the greatest batsmen of all time and plays the game to win.some think the aussies were easy to capt with warne and mcgrath but he still must take a lot of credit..

  • Pointing is one amazing player and person everyone says Sachin is better than him and arguably you could say yes, But for me ponting is a captain and always comes out usually in the big games, like his amazing ton in the 2003 world cup i dont see Sachin coming out when needed though thats just opinion but he is also a leader and that has added pressure anyways he is a great mand and player and its sad he is growing old and soon to leave the great game of cricket

  • nice guy possibly, great sportsmanship obviously, but past it! proved it in the ashes!!

  • as an England fan, i must say that is good viewing, well done 'punter' great sportmanship

  • Surely this is the normal proceedure when the batting team come down to the pitch to congratulate the oppostion?!! Ponting is the best batsmen of the past decade but i'm afraid he is a cheat(i.e. India, Sydney,2008) like alot of cricketers today. By the way I spent the past three years in Oz and alot of the media and a number of ex-australian cricketers felt the teams under Ponting played the game in an un-sportsman-like manner.

  • @mrmattymuldoon the indians don;t do it they stayed in the dressing room at lords when they last play it was dicracefull i was there at the members in the long room

The beer never tastrd so good

  • Ponting.-Gracious in Victory, generous in defeat. One of the Great Australians

  • As an English cricket supporter myself, I personally feel that some of the stick Ponting took from our fans was really unfair. He was always a true gentleman and a perfectly fair player, he is also the greatest batsmen of his generation and one of the greatest of all time in my opinion.

  • as good in defeat as in victory a true sports man

  • The atmosphere at lords was so subdued throughout the whole game. Everyone was so nervous about the result. Thought the English were a little harsh on Ponting to keep rubbing in his dropped catch (cheering the replay several times). I ask would the same treatment have been given to the likes of Tendulkar ot Smith? I think not. However, the rivalry is good for the game and good for the existence of test cricket in general.

Looking forward to Boxing day in front of 100,000 at the G.

  • u should have kicked ricky ponting's butt there

  • I don't know why so much garbage about Ricky Ponting, nobody can dispute the fact that he's a great player and decent chap, I'm English and I like him, great we won two ashes series with a bit of a major blip in between , but RP made a huge contribution along with many others..............cricket is a great game with people like him around...........Shame about the VB badge though, that beer sucks !! Give me a good pint of Fosters anyday

  • A point on this video chap...No mobile phones or cameras to be used in the Pavilion. Big risk old boy, but great footage.

  • ponting is a really nice guy, a great sportsman and a great player. he's lost the ashes twice but that's not through lack of skill or poor captaincy. when he got booed i was appalled. i wish him all the best and would one day like to buy him a pint.

  • @d4yogurt The only reason he was booed was because he was part of the opposition. Actually he was more, he was captain; captain of Australia, the great enemy of England in terms of cricket. Nothing was meant by it, it was just because of the rivalry of the countries and Ponting happened to be the captain, therefore leader, of the "great enemy". I will be very surprised if this doesn't happen to Strauss in Australia. Also he is well respected in England as he was applauded every time he was out.

  • @d4yogurt well maybe im the only one but i think hes a cunt.

  • @G00n3r4Life - Your a disgrace

  • @Rabsy83 dont worry at least hes the captain that will lose the ashes in australia for the first time in 30 years. ;)

  • @G00n3r4Life What makes you think he'll lose?

  • @emgee65 As england have the better team.

  • @G00n3r4Life Yeah , right.....They certainly showed that in Perth.

  • @emgee65 Yes the batting top order didnt hit form. England bowling attack was still at it without Anderson bowling well. At least Australia have shown they can bowl, they still cant bat well.

  • @G00n3r4Life OH ..... OK ^^)

  • @emgee65 Any need for sarcasm now?

  • @d4yogurt three times now

  • @d4yogurt he is an awful captain.

  • @d4yogurt Punter never recovered from that hissy fit in 2005 over Gary Pratt's running him out. The opposition, for the first time, realised that the skipper was a weak link in the Aussie side. Even though he struggled for runs, Mark Taylor was never exposed to the same degree - not simply because he batted in a stronger side, but that he knew how to conduct himself when in the public eye.

  • @d4yogurt :hes got a temper like a motor boat engine. too late to like. sorry.

  • pontings a class act...end of story

  • Impossible to put it any better really. He's a great ambassador for cricket and good sportsmanship in general.

  • Good sportsmanship most of the time - when he doesn't feel the need to claim catches that he didn't actually take. But I do agree he is a modern-day legend of batting and fielding.

  • Search "Ponting does not claim dravid catch"

  • I've seen that one - that isn't a sportsmanship, that's taking your eye off the ball.

  • @TheReadingStudent ...Troll

  • @columbo416 No he isn't he's a whiny little bitch....

  • that was the cardiff test you idiot

  • That was at Cardiff, dickhead, and they didn't.

  • Im Australian well said thanks

  • Im english and I think that Ponting and his team were mainly dominant throughout this series. Both sides played well. Just because Australia didnt win doesnt mean Ponting should be critisized, but I guess that is what comes from being the best of the best for so long because people expect you never to falter. Which isnt fair to be honest. Auzzies will be back with a vengance and I cant wait! England vs. Australia is one heck of a game I love to watch :) till next time!

  • I honestly think that England were just better, Ponting is getting it over here apparently he was the first Captain to lose the Ashes twice in 120 years, great Series stayed up till 2-3 o'clock every match to bad about some of the weather but you get that

  • As an English man living In NZ I enjoyed Pontings cricket over the years. why can't we just get along?!

I'm sure someone will hurl abuse at me on here, great entertainment.

  • I'm sure someone will.... but i totally agree with you.

  • i thought handshake was a common trend after the finish of every match. How does that make Ponting a great sportsman!?

    boooooooo..!!!!!

  • we all play the same game, boo the guys we like to boo and cheer the guys we like to cheer. we complain, you complain, everybody fucking complains when something seems amiss. There is absolutely no difference between us and everyone else, it just seems it when you are sitting on the other side of the fence. Here's an idea, why not just enjoy the game, have a chat about who played good and bad for BOTH teams, have a laugh and look forward to the next one... don't sound so hard aye?

  • Nothing against Ricky here, but if he reckons Aussie spectators are never that rude to opposing players,... he was never there when poor old Richard Hadley walked onto the MCG.

  • That is the weirdest clapping noises ive ever heard.

  • he is jst pretending.....................

  • I see totalkiller you're making the rounds on the youtube ashes vids posting your unique insight into cricket. Was going to reply saying you're an idiot but CHECKED OUT your CHANNEL and I don't need to, everyone else is!!

Popular fella aren't you! How do you do it?

  • Dear Comrade4417,

Got any chewing mints? how about a substitute fielder? Anyone need a physio?.......you muppet

  • Same as strauss

  • England may now feel very silly after getting so full of themselves early on in the series............draw at the Oval, Aussies retain ashes, mass overhaul of ECB management championed by a disgusted sky sports commentary team. Thats about standard i reckon!!!!!! Common the end of August!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why do aussies have such a chip on their shoulder? Any brit i know couldnt care less about the so called "rivalry"?! youe got some suna nd nice beaches, whoopy freakin Do!

and we didnt steel your medals at the olympics i think we actually "won" them,

  • see man this is the funny thing thats your claim with any sport when you FAIL again but when you win...cant shut you fuckers up! its the the fact that your all such a nbunch of know it all fuckers that pisses people off! cocky, arrogant dicks and its GREAT watching ANY country smash you

  • It's just a game you sad cunt. Aren't a side supposed to celebrate when they win? You've obviously got a chip on your shoulder for some reason... did an Englishman once suck your mum off?

  • i love the way dik face totalkiller closed his account, hahaa idiot.

  • why ae the english such bad sports? its a fucking disgrace!!! you shouted abuse at ponting one of the best capitains ever... you even abuse your own captain... what a sorry buch of negative pathetic loosers you are... and its not just me that thinks that .. its the rest of the world outside the uk..you make yourselves laughing stocks. very sad indeed.

  • I agree that we can be bad sports but Oz fans are as bad if not worse. Go to any Oz vs NZ rugby game at a Walkabout bar in London. The Australia shirts don't start coming out until they start winning. If NZ dominate the match the Oz fans keep their black jackets on. Might just be a London thing but I've seen it several times.

  • Personally, I thought it was a disgrace that Ricky was booed by English fans. I'm English, but don't tar me with the same brush. If you are going to generalise about a whole race following the behaviour of the few, then you have you head stuck in the sand as much as those who booed. Most people I speak to think it was off that he booed. Ricky is one of the greatest ever to pick up a bat, and I respect that. He also wants to win, and I respect that too.

  • this piece of shit(ricky ponting) is a disgrace to the game of cricket....boo the shit out of him in every damn fuckin game....

  • then why did your mother suck his dick

  • why dont u ask her, brother!

  • ???????

  • What? He is one of the greatest batsmen ever to grace the game. It is you who are the piece of shit.

  • Stick to drinking games, cunt. Ponting is a class act, and that's coming from an Englishman.

  • 'Loosers'. That just summed it up for me. You can't even spell properly and you're dishing out all manner of bile on our athletes and sportsmen like we're supposed to give a shit what you think. It's you who is pathetic, dear.

  • lol i remember this freddie faggot only 2 years ago...he used to get BELTED around the park! another drum up of an ordinary player here, another Tim Henman case...and Englishmen who achieved abit, but not as much as his supporters make out!!! geez you English are staaaaaaaaaarved of success huh! in ANY sport!!!

  • It's almost a shame your account was closed, I'd like to have known what country you're from that you have the sack to criticise the British for their 'lack' of sporting success, when we currently have multiple World and Olympic champions, the Formula One World Champion and current leader in Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, the world's #2 ranked tennis player, etc...oh, and of course our cricket team just won the Ashes as well.

    Little cunt you are.

  • yes your better than us but you should be you have 51 million people compared to Australias 20 million we do pitty good for how many people we have do you agree? and dont think that Criket is our No1 sport because its not only in summer when Rugby or Aussie Rule arnt playing if it make you fell better to put other counties down than I feel soory for you

  • we have 51 millions about yes , but do you honestly think its a popular sport in england? figures show since 2002 cricket is now the 6th most played sport with school children in england , and at my school of over a 1000 students at the cricket team tryouts only 1 person turned up to try out! , u can travel all over england it will be hard to see kids playing the sport , i've been to aus and see kids playing cricket a plenty! , so id guess more are interested in aus than here.

  • Well you might go to a ethnic school who knows there seems to be alot over there, its only a summer sport here we only play it 3 months of the year and most of our schools wouldnt even have a criket team football yes criket no Ive never thought of that thanks

  • i went to a totaly english school! its sad but cricket is slowly dying in school, unless you go to a public boys school

  • Ok, its pretty much the opposite you play it at private schools more than public I dont know why and do yous have public boys schools thats differant ?

  • an english public school is very different to a normal high school

  • so you have English public and normal public, do yo have private than?and do they have English private and normal private like public?

  • public schools are regarded as private.

  • was that 102/10 i saw today? :) poor cunts!!!

  • yeh, thats the england we know and love

  • did he bow to freddie at 0:12 - 0:15???

  • why would the worlds best player bow at the worlds 67th best player lol

  • AUSTRALIA WILL WIN THE SERIES

  • I think your caps lock may have been broken while you were written this comment, might be worth having that looked at sometime. Also, you forgot the full-stop at the end. Oh, and England won it comfortably.

  • Good old Ponting. I think he's lightened up a bit since he was here four years ago. He seems to smile a lot more in post-match interviews. The Barmies love to wind him up, but I reckon once he's retired, he'll be remembered fondly and spoken about only in glowing terms.

  • Comment removed

  • First of all, i'm not your friend.

    Secondly, i'm not an Aussie.

  • dear starwarshoarder,

I am amazed that you have time to watch the cricket, you should be busy playing with your Luke Skywalker dolls. And while I think that the comment did lack some class, hows about you read some history books and discover who were the real criminals that stole a continent. Google Terranullius Australia.......and then you can discover that Australia was first settled by convicts but the land was stolen by modern histories biggest thieves THE ENGLISH.

  • I really don't see that that's relevant. I'm sick of people from countries with limited history picking and choosing the bad parts of our English history. We've been a country for 1000 years! there's bound to be a few episodes of cuntyness along the way. Lets face it, 200 years ago, when Australia and the USA were barely an itch in their daddy's pants, All countries behaved like cunts.

  • listen to you you knob!!! ... countries from limited history hey!!!???... well it just shows you how old and stale the English are .. you all had hard ons the other week thinking you had it in the bag...but you know Australia is bigger and better and kicks your ass in just about everything.. keep your crusty old Queen and your history .. we are much better off without it!....and why do you think the english are such bad loosers... they should be used to it by now!

  • after the last referendum i thought it was you guys who wanted to keep the crusty old queen?

  • oooo get you! It's not as if Australia are the best loser - or winners - in the world. If Oz fans boo English cricketers it's seen by you as harmless pom-baiting but when we do it we're accused of bringing the game into disrepute! Get some perspective you small-minded moron, and lose that cip from your shoulder while you're at it.

  • BTW I think Ponting is an incredible sportsman.

  • Woah Woah... hang on a minute. Where are you from then? Are you suggesting that 1000 years ago, Australians were sitting there thinking how terribly England was behaving? Unless you're an Aboriginal person then you're being quite hypocritical... You are surely from a European background too and so are therefore as guilty as me. You can't pick and choose the best parts of European culture then criticise us for the bad bits. You muppet.

  • Comment removed

  • Australia has been an independent nation for just over 100 years. Surely that's 'limited' by comparison to England? It doesn't mean it's any worse for that... I just meant that you can't use things England did 500 years ago against us as there's no direct comparison to Australia. Surely then your argument is flawed?

  • thats why every aussie i know washes with a spray of the linx under the armpits!

  • It may be the highpoint of ponting's summer

  • how did you get this footage?

  • great batsman, crap captain.

  • He is probably statistically speaking the best batsman in the game currently.

  • Fair play Ponting, sporting gesture. I no longer think he is a shifty fellow with an inadequate space between his eyes.

  • That was good of Ponting. well done him.

  • always thought he was a cock, even though Im scottish, but it shows humility is handled very well by Ponting. Fair play to him

  • he also has tiny eyes

  • jealousy at its best.

  • does he drop another catch at 0:12 ?

  • Nice Gesture, maybe he isn't so bad.

  • Ponting 's too nice these days...what happened to bar fighting partership with Slater?

  • Very nice gesture. Still a prick.

  • all those pompous old farts standing around in there.. its no wonder cricket is so institutionalised.

  • I understand Compton have a team.

  • well done uridium you just demonstrated in a a few words how little you know about cricket and its traditions, when you eventually wipe those chips of your shoulder and stop being a chav twat perhaps you will realise how childish your comment was.......somehow i doubt it your too much of a dick

  • your point might be considered valid if it wasn't for your complete contradiction in trying to assume the characteristics of my lifestyle - i've played cricket at a reasonable standard, and when i say reasonable i mean more than 2 training sessions a week, this game is ruined by the 'experts' at the top.

In football they are campaigning to improve the grassroots - in cricket there is basically no grass roots.

  • then if you have played you should know better i think your knowledge it very well summed up on here already "its lords you daft cunt"

  • Yeah that was harsh I'm sorry.

  • Its Lords you daft cunt. Lords is the high class and always have been. You'll get other grounds with are lower class. Honestly, compare the two atmospheres during a game between Lords and the Oval and you'll see a difference.

  • No ... i think ricky just picked something from the floor ...

i don't think it's him to do something like bow to other player ... he's not such a classy guy

  • the way they can make the team stronger is

    pick rashid for onions

    & harminson for broad

that way rashid can bat in broad position & they will have three seamers & and 2 spinners

  • Rashid's bowling is so incredibly unrefined at present it would be nonsensical in picking him at this present stage of his career. Rashid also can't construct an innings in the same vein that Broad can, so particularly in the test arena Broad is the superior pick. As for Onions, he may not set the world alight and I would rather see Harmison come into the side in the next test, but he's a saner pick than Rashid.

  • this clip captures the magic of the ashes and its sportsmanship

  • well done ricky for a good sporting gesture

  • looked like he bowed to frediie?????
