My grandpa's friend rolled a W126 500SEL in 1986 (car was 4 months old) at a fairly high speed round a country road here in the uk, slipped on a wet road because he was speeding, planted it in a field at around 65-70mph (he thinks) and got out and walked home. Safest cars, even back then in 1986, probably safter than most japanese cars of today.
