Allow me to introduce my sin nature :)
I wish I could hear the words that come out of your mouth on your death bed. I was going to listen to another video of yours but I just cant stomach your dumb azz. I'll be looking for you in the after life inmendham. If I go before you I wont wait. That sound fair?
I completely agree, Its time for the belief in a personal god to go. However, there is and there will always be an unknown aspect to existence. Maybe we need a new myth to deal with this. One that can coexist with Phyics but can deal with those problems that physics has to be silent about ie ultimate meaning. Because science can't deal with absolute knowledge we need some kind of faith in the unknown. Comfort in not knowing.
I like this video quite a lot. I have a few minor disagreements, of course. One of them being, "If physics rules, then there is no god.". But if physical laws rule everything, then these laws are our god(s). The only difference is that physics classes don't recommend ways to perform devotions toward existence. In other words, I still think religious techniques are relevent.
hmmm. No. Like devotion and personal behavioral change. Application of things like strategic belief with respect to modern understanding of the world. See, when it comes to acting upon scientific "beliefs" or truths, many people are lazy and/or disinterested. Also, religious forms of prayer and meditation are very healthy practices.
Barklord, if I can just put in my 2 cents... I don't think people do others any good (no matter how well intentioned) by promoting any kind of fairy tale. In the age of nuclear weapons... the luxury of indulging in myths is too dangerous(I am speaking for myself here - not inmendham).
Ok, I understand. It's just that I don't view religion as limited to rigid belief in myths. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali come to mind. Btw, Systematic rigidity with respect to interpreting religious literature became more common after the power of logic was discovered in other areas. I think it's a misapplication of logic, personally. Ambiguity and multiple meanings is what mythopoetic lit is all about.
I'm liking your take on these issues, Barklord. inmendham and I seem to have come to some kind of an agreement about these issues on another of my video's comments, but there are still plenty of details to be worked out.
If if are looking in the same direction, for the same reasons, at the same goal, I'm pretty much details smeetails.... I will not fight to much about the arrangement of bricks as long as we are throwing them at the same dogmatic selfish and opressive lizard (Godzilla the Greedy).
I'm on board with that project. I'm going to respond to this video in a little while, though. I want to try to see where we are essentially disagreeing, because I do actually agree with most of what you say.
The things you mentioned are so important. The sad thing is so many go through their lives never thinking about what you brought up. I'm glad you are making a difference in the world by making these videos. 5*

Pretty cool. I found it worth listening to..
Too many arguments about things we can't fathom yet.
That includes the origin of the universe. Hawking says it's the one thing religion can now lay claim to, but hey.. whut du aye no? It's all good.

Sorry sounds like mumbo-jumbo to me, and I don't do that any more.

I'm not sure which part sounded like mumbo-jumbo to you.

I think you speak for me better than I speak for me.
Barklord, If people are too lazy, I don't think you fix it, by suggesting they lie around meditating and playing.
