@cmednc Hi cmednc, yes that's a Clavinova (a CLP-509 to be specific). Highly recommended. I've tried all the Yamaha, Roland, Casio, Korg offerings and for acoustic realism (touch and sound), nothing came close to the Yamaha CVP and CLP series (esp the ones with "graded hammers"). Unless your exam is a licentiate/performers diploma on a concert grand, I don't think it's an issue at all to practice on them. Love your work.... good luck on the exam!
@R1skArb i have a piano as well but i need something to practise on at any time of day. Clavinovas are very expensive though :( I have a roland fp5 at the moment, i love the sound but the keys are just too light for the music i'm doing now.
@R1skArb I just went to the piano store to try some out and ended up buying (without intending to purchace anything!) a roland lx10f. It was amazing. I went from piano to the roland and to back to piano to compare the touch and the only downside was that the glissando on the roland wasn't fabulous, but other than that I could barely tell the difference. And i got $500 off even though it was already on sale. Win. In other news I am now poor. lol.
@MegaPetrof - hey MegaPetrof, glad you liked it! I'll be sure to send you more FAIL videos..... in fact, most of my videos end up as fails! all the best
@jamesdahertheiii ......haha .... yes, I'm def guilty of exaggerating the fail-ness but you'll have to trust me when I say the recording is half-baked...... i can play much it better .... in line with snooty grey-poupon classical standards.... and I'll upload something someday soon to appease those bastards. I'm glad you enjoyed this ... thanks alot for posting. - rob
@kswanson20 - Guess we're both a bit understated then ; ) ...... i didn't record the other (more crappy!) parts so you'll have to trust me that there's alot of fail+work-in-progress .... thanks for the kind words and encouragement!
Not bad! But I believe that you rushed some parts, and as a result, they lost their melodic quality. I suggest working through the piece in more depth first, then re-upload it! But I admire your technical ability! :P well done :)
@g3org33r3 - Thanks for the kind and constructive words. Totally agree. I got caught up in pace and didn't capture the melodic line or the emotion (mostly during the main theme). Can play it better now and will re-upload after I iron out more glitches - thanks again!
awww c'mon. I really expected something different for an "EPIC FAIL" recording. A slight understatement is always nice, but in this case it seems you are either depressive or you just want other people to say "nooooo you are soo good". Either way, well played!
@pokey303 Thanks for the compliment..... not sure your character read is on the mark tho ...... depressive? Possibly, anyone that plays Rachmaninoff is sure to emulate his depression at some point. Fishing for compliments? Maybe. I have few friends that enjoy/appreciate piano.
@setzerVIII Thanks! Piano is a Yamaha CVP - 509.... got a great "Concert Grand" sound that the other Yamaha's don't have and some powerful speakers.... the crappy camera doesn't do it justice. To answer your other question, been playing since I was a kid but only about 7-8 years of semi-decent practice.
@brraziel - Thanks very much! I'm still learning the piece so I'd sooner watch a tutorial than give one..... but definitely, once I've learned it all I'd be happy to share some tips/ideas. The best advice I could give right now for the first part of the third movement is to 1) practice the 4-against-3 very slowly, and then after you've got the rhythm; 2) repeat the left hand until it hurts - Good luck!
@rpcjt - Maraming salamat po! This is just work in progress and I'm hoping to get it into concert shape in the next few years. Btw, my mother is filipina and I used to live/work there...... we classically-inclined tisoys/tisays are a dying breed and need to keep together! ;)
Keep up the great work spreading the joy of our music in the phils! I make it into Manila once every few months and hope to catch a performance of yours someday soon!
sounds fantastic
