@altruistichedonist There's way more today than I can remember. As a young child in the 70's, I remember that even seeing one was a rarity. Today the odds of seeing one anywhere along the coast are extremely high on the Big Island.
You know...before I post comments on YouTube I always ask myself three things: is it true? Is it nice? And is it necessary? It never occurred to me to ask myself if my comment was so astoundingly puerile as to embarrass me before the entire world for the rest of my life....but then, I generally watch YouTube sober...
Aloha DrBlizzardo, great job on this very informative video. There is a situation that is critical and alarming taking place at 4 miles in Hilo that is of great concern to some of us. Ur video will be of great help and education in doing the right thing for the honu -Mahalo
Days there around in the early part of the afternoon the temp of the water would get low 70's to almost 75 degress different types of fish just like flying fish everywhere similar to whales we saw there was well
I sue to walk the small islands in a .circle. when I was in Okinawa ..bending.. and looking for shells as well in the evening as for glow in the dark Jelly fish from Island to Island looking for different species as well was great. There was this light house there before on one of the islands that was so beautiful rigth on the edge I didn't have a ..girl friend.. before but it was such a great time.
I swam with sea turtles in the Big Island too and they all had some kind of i.d. tags on them. Tried to hold onto one to get a ride but he got away...
These are beautiful, gentle creatures! I swam near one in Maui! I hovered above the water with a snorkle. The turtle was on the bottom resting. It then slowly surfaced and swam right by us, unaffected by humans! Absolutely beautiful sweet creatures!!! Save the Sea Turtle!
HAIKU
I hatch! Crawl! And swim!
Oh how I love my sweet life,
Please don’t hunt me.
