I saw OTE on cable when I was 12 and marveled at how somebody had made a movie about my friends. It became MY movie. Then, 14 years after that I worked for the coroner in San Mateo county and despite all I saw doing that job, I dreaded most having to go to Foster City for anything just because of how fake it seemed; like Tustin X 10. It wasn't until later that I found out OTE originally took place in Foster City. It was one of those "no shit" moments where stuff just figures too much.
