  • I'm looking into buying the STL 36" K-Force, but I have one question; I have a pre-existing Whelen switchbox in my car (ten swtiches), can the STL bars easily be wired to non-STL controllers? Thanks!

  • @PaganFirefighter I wouldn't advise using a normal controller because there are so many wires. Another thing is you will need the controller that comes with it to change the patterns unless you use a momentary switch. Also you would mess up the warranty that comes with it. Just my advice....

  • @ncc0wby1 Awesome, thank you. I think I can 'hide' the STL controller and wire it to my pre-existing box, so that by flipping the switch there would turn on the STL controller. (I'd just leave the STL switches on the 'on' position.) We'll see if that works. Thanks for your help!

  • @PaganFirefighter Yeah man, I guess instead of running your hot wire to the battery you could go into your controller. Leds dont pull a lot of amps but make sure you have a strong enough fuse to handle it. Let me know how it turns out. (This would also save your warranty)

  • @PaganFirefighter yeah thats what i did to my direction ace 8 just hot wire to outside control box all switches left on.

  • I love Speedtech. I have the STL Grille Pro in my side window, STL Dual Pro in my front window, STL Quad Pro in my back window and soon the STL Cube 150-Watt Speaker hooked to a Federal Signal touchmaster. The lights have never failed and move traffic easily.

  • How did you get the wire through to the cab?

  • @swatlowkey I had to drill a hole in the roof.

  • @ncc0wby1 I think i just died a little inside, im looking into this lightbar and im trying to see if i can do it w/o drilling.

  • @swatlowkey So how do you like it?

  • what fire dept do you volunteer at? I am with currituck county NC if you know where that is station 5 and 7. I also have all STL lighting great place to buy your emg lights soon I am going to be a dealer their and thinking about going to charolett NC and starting a emg vehicle lighting shop I do have a bussiness called Matt's Emergency Vehicle Lighting. visit my web kj4unr.com and yes I am a ham radio operator. thats why I talk a lot.

thanks for showing the video nice lightbar by the way.

  • @KJ4UNR I'm in Gaston County. If you decide to open one in Charlotte and need some help, let me know. :)

  • Very nice lightbar! Great video clip! At night, how far do the takedown and alley lights go(the distance)?

  • as a dealer for STL...thanks for the awesome video. I absolutely love what you did with your driving lights. I though about doing the same thing on my POV

  • I bought mine (STL K-Force 27) about 10 months ago and the controller went bad (still under warrenty). When i called them they could not even look up the seral number and said I would have to buy a new one ($89.95). All because they cant keep their own records. In short it is an ok product with bad support.

  • hay i have one more question do you use their siren to if so how dose it work

  • @feorr1 They are a good siren. I have 2 of them for sale if you would like. Just the siren, not the speaker. They are new. one has maybe an hour use on it and the other has never been used, just tested.

  • loved the video you showed me what i wanted to see stl needs to put this video on their web site i was always a little apprenhinsive cause there was no day time videos but you put my fears to rest now i know what light bar im going to get loved the comment at the end lmao

  • hey did you ever have problems with the take down switches?

  • @mutt300 I did a couple times.... I think dust got to it. just flip them off and on a couple times. They have a 1 year guarantee on it if you have a problem.

  • @ncc0wby1 ya i am having a problem with them.. im trying to contact stl.. because one of the led lights on the controll is crooked and so when i turn it on it looks like that light isnt working

  • @mutt300 Yeah, they will send you another one. I had talked to them about that before and they will work with you.

  • @ncc0wby1 i guess the only problem with there lights are there switch boxes

  • @mutt300 I think I told you, keep a watch for the modules to sweat. Mine did that too.

  • @ncc0wby1 what you mean by that?

  • @ncc0wby1 what do you mean by that?

  • Great light bar dude! I am going to get one too. This thing looks great and has the same features as the Whelen but why cheaper price.

  • @FF5754 You have to be careful with it. I have found that some of the light heads will sweat on the inside and cause the light head to look white when turned off. The light will still work but it makes it look cheap.

  • Hey I was wondering... how bad is the wind noise when you get going over 80? Also have you seen any brighter lightbars out there? I've heard this is one of the brightest with 132 LEDs

  • @eastwoodisme There is a slight whistle even at 60 mph. I have sold this light bar to my dept and have went with the SoundOff Pinnacle Interior Lightbar. I cant believe how bright it is. STL is a good bar for the money. it's low profile and a good controller. As far as brighter exterior bars, the Whelen Liberty is one of the best going. Interior - The Pinnacle is incredible. Wish I would have bought it first! I have a vid posted of it. Hope this helps.

  • @ncc0wby1 If you want an INTENSE interrior lightbar look at the Axixtech Stealth Visor

  • @dabbs327 I have tried Axixtech lights. Wasn't impressed at all.

  • Okay, usually I can't stand vff's who have their POV's loaded up like a Christmas tree, but this is an exception... not that I'd call this a Christmas tree... You have a lot of lights mounted here, but they are setup in a nice way, that doesn't give it the appearance of a 5 year old gone light happy! Nice job, and I sure envy your setup! We're still pushing to even get green "courtesy" lights in Nova Scotia... :|

    Cheers

  • Thanks man! I was looking at a video the other day from a guy up your way. He was talking about green lights for VFF. It is hard for me to believe that you can't use anything to respond.

  • is there a way to only have the back lights on like 1:24 and not the fount? only the back flashers

  • Yes, Each color has it's own separate control. If you look at the control box at 5:20, this would only be the amber lights turned on.

  • where did you get the fog lights that is so cool

  • I added the Vertex to the fog lights. They are from sirennet . com. I have 2 lights in each fog lamp housing.

  • haha sorry i didnt see the controller

  • whats your favore it pattern

  • Well, I get bored easy so I change it from time to time. Now I moved the takedowns where they will flash like the rest of the lights and I can have 2 steady burn reds. I will do another video soon. all I done was change some of the wiring.

  • 1, 9, 13, and 15 are the ones I use. 5 is ok. With me changing the wires around it is like a new light bar

  • what wires

  • The wires inside the bar that connects to each individual module

  • that will be cool 2 see

  • I updated the video and it is on youtube now. If you look at the video response you will see the picture with my durango parked under the carport. That one it is.

  • I just wanted to know how great a traffic mover that lightbar is during the day time. I live in South Texas and the sun is very aggressive and bright. Do u have a video doing a 360 degree show of the light? im very interested in its visibility all around. thx. great video btw.

  • I don't have a video like you are talking about but I will put one together for you. I am from the New Orleans area myself until I moved to NC... I know the sun light you are tasking about... :) As with any lights it will loose it's punch in the day but I am still happy with it for the money.

  • I have been thinking of getting a STL bar either full size or mini in red for my vollie FD/EMT duties. Are STL lights of good quality? They have some really inriguing stuff, but Im hard pressed to use a company other than whelen products which I have been using for my 7 years in the fire service.

  • I am very happy with this bar for the money. Whelen is awesome but for the money I will stay with STL. I just changed the wiring on a couple of the light heads and now the takedowns flash with the rest of the lights as well... Looks even better. I will make a video soon and show what I done.

  • helpful clip. i have many stl lights and have been thinking of a light bar someday soon.

    thanks again, great clip

  • Thanks snOage83. Glad you like it.

  • nice and bluegrassy country tunes man =)

  • Hey, Thanks man! A lot of memories in them songs.

  • Very well done. Looks great. Hope to see more.

  • Thank you very much!
