  • he would have made a great barnabas collins

  • Hard to believe this is the same man who played Skeletor in the Masters of the Universe movie from the 80s, huh?

Oh & Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) is retarted! He is but a mere child compared to Frank's Dracula & several other vampires I know of.

  • Frank Langella is the sexiest Dracula ever! He can take a bite out of me anyday

  • Langella is the ideal Count Dracula (more ideal than the book character)

  • @ejeevika Not quite. Klaus Kinski's version of him was moving, repulsive, and pitiful. The book's Count is perfect: seductive, rapacious, predatory, gentlemanly, prideful, utterly evil.

  • Not bad for a kid from Bayonne, New Jersey!

  • Langella a legend!

  • I love his sophistication, there would be so much to learn from a character like the one Langella created.

  • this is the best version with the best ending.

  • It woulda been neat to see Langella as Bond. Hah.

  • Frank Langella is Awesome !

  • You want to know what's funny? This movie came out in 1979 the same year Herzog remade Nosferatu. Bruno Ganz played the role of Jonathan Harker. Recently both of them appeared and did a scene together in the recent movie Unknown. I was watching that and thinking 'It's like Dracula and Harker are meeting in a completely different film!'. Of course they've done other things, but being a Dracula fan I just noticed that. Love this movie as well. Langella is such a great Dracula.

  • @balrog13571 What's also cool is that Klaus Kinski (who played Dracula in Herzog's remake) played Renfield in a low-budget adaptation of Dracula alongside Christopher Lee as Dracula.

  • @VideoMask93

Oh yeah I've seen that too. I personally liked it enough (or at least I liked it more than other films by Franco and more than Coppola's version or the really bad Dracula films) though my biggest complaint was how little Kinski had to do. He was trying, but the character was very limited in that version. Still it's interesting how it came full circle with him.

  • good lord

  • una de las mejores versiones de Dracula.

  • I have a deep masculine voice, but I envy his. Next to him I sound like a little child.

  • The face, the voice, ooh la la, yummy.

  • @mish494 Agreed!

  • they prab showed this for 3-4 halloweens when I was a kid. Used to stay up late watch this and king kong 76' Memories....So glad I was an 80's kid and grew up with the best movies and music!

  • Who has played a more compelling and charismatic Dracula than Langella, yet? No one. He was so good, he could pass for the real thing.

  • forse l unico che segue,fedelmente.. il libro.

  • I remember this movie when it first came out. I was taken by Frank Langella's charm. Smoooooth.

  • My mother was absolutly crazy for Langella when he played Dracula.

  • DRACULA Frank Langella

para ver algo viejo pero no tantoooooo

  • Even though Christopher Lee is unmatched as the best Dracula ever (IMO), I'd say Frank Langella gives the character a whole new depth. A far cry from Lee's mute, raw scariness, and Bela Lugosi's camp Eastern European-caricature, he is easily the most charming, smooth-talking Count (and, some will say, the most evil because of this)

  • Whoa... *runs off to watch.* I always thought of dracula as more suave and subtle than Bela Lugosi. (Don't get me wrong, his Dracula was iconic and genius and scary and wonderful. But this is so much truer to my vision of him.)

  • No problem with the performances and Frank Langella in the late 70's early 80's well, don't get me started, but why was it necessary to flip the names of the female characters.

Mina is the longer living heroine (Kate Nelligan's role). Lucy Westenra (not Van Helsing) is the early victim. It's odd what Hollywood changes---when it doesn't need to.

LG Sunny

  • Langella is one of the best looking people ever to grace the silver screen, and he's an excellent actor too! It surprises me how many people are unaware of him, but that's probably because he spent much of his career in the theater as opposed to the movies. No one ever made a sexier, more appealing Dracula! Of course these days he looks like what he is - a senior - and he has a distinguished appearance. But back in the day - wow! He was gorgeous.

  • Frank Langella in 1979 as Dracula...yummy.

  • I could be wrong but i believe Frank Langella has a long lost twin brother named Christopher Lee.

  • How can anybody think the twilight shit is good, when you still have Frank Langella?

Those eyes, that amazing voice that melts you

  • So much class and just being a smoot, shall I say man.

  • 1-1-2010. He's not blue. He's just 72. Happy Birthday, That's the online synoposis, that I got for you.

  • for me- this is the best dracula film

  • The man is a work of art. The eyes, voice...even his hands are beautiful.

  • @queenmeanie i think i understand what your sayin

  • he is the sexiest Dracula ever.

  • I always think his hair looks best in this scene......SOOOO attractive......he certainly wouldn't need to hypnotize me!

  • sooo from 0:10 to 0:22 his voice is seriously like chocolate...so hypnotic

  • Even now, though some might think it cheesy, his "power" is mesmerizing.

  • Hmmmm, that voice, those eyes; does he need to use hypnotism? I think not. ;)

  • 0:34 the mere sight of frank langella will cause you to faint xD

  • Very dark picture...

  • nice hair.

  • Frank Langella could put a BAG over his head ans STILL be sexy!

  • the score is amazing.

  • So true; one of the first movie scores I ever owned.

  • Comment removed

  • Dr Loomis.......

  • Ffffffffuuuuuuuck, his voice is heavenly.

  • I do agree...i do agree

    quite delicious

  • This is what I feel; the version you grow up on is the one you ulitmately like the most. Langella's Dracula, as well as his Zorro, are the ones I grew up on, and the ones I favor til this very day. Same goes with music, fashion, etc...

  • There's so much that's unsaid but clear about the roles of each player. Mina the weak minded victim, Lucy 's strength is the cause of Drac's attraction, Johnathen Drac as rivals, and the Dr's dotty incompetence. The whole movies there in this one scene.

  • I remember when this came on t.v. back in the day. Scared me! Christopher Lee is also a great Dracula. Also can't forget Bela Lagosi.

  • Sir Christopher all the way. The only Drac to be actually scary!

  • My favorite Dracula film, well, maybe Bram Staker's Dracula is better. But the scene with Mina the vampire underground scared me more than anything ever - for years!

  • Who wants scary when you can have sexy?

  • I think Frank Langella is beautiful, a totally beautiful man even more than he is sexy!

  • GAHHH sex god!!

  • Frank has such charisma no matter who he plays: Dracula; Nixon; anyone. He has been so under appreciated all these years.

  • This is a very poor version of Dracula in many ways; unless Transylvania is somewhere in the Mid-West USA I do not get his accent; he is not menacing or scary at all; but I guess this version is sexy so the ladies like it; Langella cannot "hang"-pun intended with Bela, Jack Palance, Christopher Lee, and most especially Louis Jourdan. Olivier is not good as Van Helsing but at least he is not the parody that Anthony Hopkins made of him in FF Coppla's Dracula--Stoker had little to do with it.

  • then why watch it then?

  • Well, dumbbell, because I think other people watching the clip or the movie need to read critical commentary not just adulation.

  • @RPenta i guarantee you voted for Obama, didnt you?

  • @John22133

Actually I did not. Any other irrelevancies on your mind?

  • @RPenta Plenty. And we both know youre lying, you bleeding heart left wing liberal nut-job. Goodbye.

  • @mybabba I know that this comment is two years old, but I just want to say that his charisma likely comes from his history as a stage actor. You NEED charisma to be memorable on stage, when you can't rewind or rewatch the same performance.

  • whatever

  • damn frank langella was FINE back then!! xD

  • yeah...but he still is very sweet for his age!!!!love him!!!!

  • And still is.....

  • Frank Langella beautiful Eyes.....

  • No. No No. Gerard Butler can never never never be sexier than Frank langella-.

    Remember: never....

  • Frank langella is the best dracula ever seen

  • I Agree!!! Frank was the most believable and charismatic one out of all! ;)

  • Hi is phantom of the opera not Dracula *G*

Frank Langella is my favorit and very beautiful

  • @vampirelover28 I agree that Gerard is a decent actor and was amazing in Phantom...BUT, Frank version of Dracula was drawn on heavely in Butlers portrail, Gerard even said so in various interviews on tv. In fact he even said that he spoke to Frank asking him about his stage performance BEFORE he filmed this movie. You have only to watch the scene where he is running down the hall in slow motion.

  • These were the good movies, the spanish version of Dracula (1931), Christopher Lee's 58 and 70 (the remake which claimed 2 be the closest 2 the original), This (1979, an extremely believable almost normal human Dracula) and Gary Oldman's Dracula were the best (even though Gary Oldman's was actually far 2 romantic and fantasy exhagerated and not that much horror). Nixon crew should have stolen the oscar from the pedestal GOD DAMN IT!!

  • One of my all time Favorite Dracula moveis.Frank Langella is so fine,He can bite my neck anytime,

    Chris

  • It's like compare apples and oranges. langalla has the sophistication of a mature male. Pattinson comes off like a troubled teen, but mature for his age. You can't compare a 39 yr. old with a 22 yr. old.

  • @Mandrarion In about 20 years reread your comment. In 1979 I was INSANE for Frank Langella. I was 16 and a mass of heaving enotion and god forbid anyone that said anything bad about my favorite actor. It's 30 years later and I'm still a fan but i am more willing to accept that not everyone is going to like the things I do. Everyone has the right to their opinion, not just me or you.

  • yeah fuck twilight. dracula is the greatest thing ever. i mean, do you see edward cullen turning into a bat?

    no.

    there you go.

  • Frank Langella makes a MUCH sexier vampire in this movie than Robert Pattinson does in Twilight.

    Edward Who?

  • Robert Pattinson is my daughter's big crush! However, in my opinion, he is still too young to have the allure of Frank in this movie. He is SO elegant and in control and exudes sex appeal!

  • I just saw this on AMC alll the way through my GOD! Frank Langella is sexy....I understand how she was put under his spell so easily.

  • Oh my God... I just watched this last night on AMC too! It was the first time I ever saw it. I LOVED it! Langella really is sexy... his eyes!!!!!

  • theres the man that got his oscar stolen last night

  • i love all dracula movies..this was my first when i was about 7.had nighmares forever and i never forgot Frank Langellas face...wish he wudda won his oscar for Nixon ; ;

  • langella is my fave

  • He is very good looking, his voice is awesome and his hair is AMAZING ^____________^

  • He is getting older, but still gorgeous and very distinguished.

  • i love his eyes... :D

  • who would have thought he would end up playing nixon.

  • yes that is

  • Is that Donald Pleasence as Dr. Seward?

  • Yes.

    Laurence Olivier is Van Helsing.

Tony Haygarth is Renfield. Haygarth is currrently in Emmerdale.

  • This movie was the bomb! Frank Langella was yum, yum in this movie! lol

  • langella was great but so was bela lagosi and Christopher Lee those were the 3 main people who were and will always be dracula

  • This movie was made almost entirely on location in Cotnwall (notably Tintagel, Padstow and St. Michael's Mount) but set entirely in... Yorkshire.

  • The best vampire movie ever made. The heck with the metrosexual retreads and ridiculous comic book adaptations.

  • I agree Pitt, Underworld, and Lycans, and That new Van Helsing bullshit, didn't have shit on this. Oldman was great but even Bram Stokers' was over-rated. Get Keanu Reeves out of here.....!! Langella as Dracula and Skeletor?? What more do you want!?

  • "No, you must not pollute the blood!" Great Line!

  • Frank Did a Beautifull/Exellent Job Here Unforgettable !

  • watched this the other day,Langella is a brilliant dracula i actually found him very dangerous and threatning yet devilishly charming, definetly the best Dracula i have seen out of all the actors who've played him, although i do wish he had fangs!

  • This movie came on TV just a few days after I came home from my holiday in October to Bridlington (it's near Whitby and I went there one day) Now everytime I go to Whitby it always reminds me of this film, which is cool because I really love this movie! This is the perfect film for me to watch at Halloween, yay it's great!!

  • I don't want to disillusion you but it was actually filmed in Cornwall!

  • ill forever love frank langella as dracula :D

  • spectacular performance by Langella. IMO the best Dracula ever.

  • yes a sexy dark brooding blood sucker.!

  • Well, I don't know about all that. I'm just relating what I've read in some of the interviews featuring Frank. I've been near that area.

  • lov this film. Left my windows open all night but frank never showed!

  • Sexy as hell he can bite my neck and anywhere else he likes any time!

  • he was way too perfect for this part! love him.

  • Woopie Goldberg.............. you lucky bitch!

  • why he go with her is a mystery!?

  • He's so charming.

  • Much Respect to Frank !

    Unforgettable Movie (!)

  • im related to this guy!!!

  • OMG REALLY?? HOW??

  • he is my like 2nd cousin or something like that but i met him!

  • Frank is from Jersey City, correct? So am I. He's a great actor. He portrays a very sensual and strong Dracula here, as opposed to being overtly sinister. Excellent.

  • Actually, I believe that I read somewhere that he's from Bayonne, New Jersey.

  • Bayonne, Jersey City, Weehawken, Union City. It's all the same if you live in that area. It's more congested than New Delhi, India or Hong Kong. And it all looks the same, except for some of the riverfront property and new developments in certain areas.

  • Bayonne is congested for sure but no where near New Delhi, India or Hong Kong. NO state is populated like New Delhi for Christ's sake! And yes Frank Langella was born there Does anyone care about Bayonne? DID YOU LIKE THE FILM anhacus???? Well, I adore Langella is this role - watch it EVERY Halloween and dream of Frank's visits for weeks afterwards!

  • I grew up in Jersey City in the sixties. I have great memories. I was eight years old when I first heard the Stones Satisfaction playing on Central Ave. in 1965. Great memories. Good friends. All Italian/Irish people. Lots of fun. And there was a pulse of vitality there. Or maybe it was just because I was young. Frank looks a lot different now. It's what happens as men get older.

  • well my partner use to go to this guys house also carfax abby she has the synopsis to this movie and some exclusive photos from it thanks for the post

  • I love how Dracula, a guest, orders Dr. Seward around in the doctor's own house.

  • Count Dracula is an aristocrat and an ancient one at that. He is entirely comfortable ordering people around. You'll note that the good doctor does attempt to reestablish his authority, then acquiesces without enthusiasm. Nice character interplay--one of the things that elevates this "Dracula" above the typical, imho.

  • I do think he is magnificent in this scene!

  • "How well you phrase it..." ;-) That voice--it's like hot chocolate...mmmmmm.

  • i LOVE this guy!! he's such a great dracula, he's perfect for the role!

  • his hott too

  • Oh, yes.

  • You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar can't you?
