Hello, can you help me? How did you light up the rockets? Was it remote-controled or a long fuse?

I have 8 home made rockets on my helicopter but I can't light them up because I'm guessing the wire is too long (9in to be exact). I've used the smallest wire and install it in series but heats up before it gets to the rocket. Do you have any solution for that? Please help

Try a 1/8 or 1/4 watt 10 ohm resistor. Wrap the resistor around the fuse and apply 6 to 12 volts. The resistor should catch fire immediately and ignite the fuse...

I did this when I was 12 around 17 years ago now, But I used an RC plane rather than a heli. All I did was used the standard rocket igniter fuses and the launch box that came with the rocket kit.

Taped a spare servo onto the launch box that was activated with a spare channel.

When the spare channel radio switch was activated, the servo horn came down and pushed the launch box button and there ya have it.

I shot a large barn with one, but other than that accuracy is a crap shoot

These are people flying a remote controlled miniature helicopter that fires model rockets that travel maybe 40 feet. They are doing this in the middle of an open, private field during a non-dry season.

Wildfires happen naturally as a result of a dry summer season, high temperatures, and/or lightning strikes. However, the fires that usually make the news are ones that have been set on purpose or by complete fucking idiots with campfires, not model rockets.

RC IS a great hobby JACKMACK12. Ask the folks who make their living in the hobby industry. Ever hear of the FAA or the FCC, gewizz2? The AMA works with those agencies to establish guidelines that we as modelers are expected to follow. A modeler near where I live was sued recently for wreckless disregard of public safety when he crashed his large scale model into a car AWAY from an AMA-sponsored flying site!  I'll bet that guy is wishing he'd followed the rules.

I don't know about illegal, but launching pyrotechnics from an RC model IS against AMA regulations. If you start a fire with that heli shooting bottle rockets, your AMA insurance (if you are a member, and you should be) won't cover you! It won't cover you outside of an AMA-sponsored field anyway. And IF you have a problem, the bad press for our great hobby is NOT something this hobby needs! Be smart and protect our great hobby!
