It's funny when Vincent tells her that her "faith" is nothing more than a child crying out for, psychologically, he's right even though he's pretty twisted himself. Claudia is trying to seek the same love and affection from this "god" who will be just as cruel as her father was to her. She's addicted to the chaos and trying to attain a love that she will never be able to have. A child needs unconditional love, which is what she wants from the god, but she is not a child anymore.

Man it's hard to tell if either any of them are "bad" people. Claudia is a crazy psychotic bitch, yes. But she only does what she does to only "save" mankind. Vincent is a manipulating and egotistical jerk, but all he wants is money and is in some ways preventing the destruction of humanity.

I applaud the writers for creating some intricate, morally ambiguous characters.

Vincent sort of represents the former believer who has turned from the faith and who's become not merely cynical and bitter, but manipulative and cold-hearted. Claudia represents the other side: the firm-hearted believer who's obsessive, ruthless and overly concerned with punishment and pain. Neither one of them REALLY understand what religon is supposed to be about...and both suffer for their cruel acts.

Bingo, you nailed both of them. Though, I have to point out that Claudia, in my opinion, is slightly more redeemable than Vincent. Her figure is carved from a more tragic mold. She is the woman who suffered intensely as a girl, grew up to be filled (really) with love and compassion, but lost her mind and her values when she began to pursue one goal voraciously. The tragedy of the woman who wishes for everyone to be happy, but ends up hated for her harsh actions trying to achieve her goal.

He's kind of trustworthy, but his means of ending it all are killing, both, Claudia and Heather. I find him to be a rather vicious, Machiavellian fellow. I guess that's why I dislike him so intensely; he doesn't care who he hurts in his quest for power. You're also right to point out that he's, strangely, fascinated by the Otherworld. Vincent is a difficult character to fully assess; his motives are all over the place.
