Actually Dr. King was better friends with Rev. C.L. Franklin than Mahalia was. Mahalia was good friends with Aretha's mother, Barbara Franklin who was also known to be an exceptional Gospel Singer. Mahalia loved the children dearly and continued to visit the home when she ministered in song at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit.
