  • Awesome chiptune!

  • I'm getting pretty excited to be getting Nanoloop 1.6 (or one, I guess) when it's out. I've just started to attempt chiptune music and have been fiddling with LSDj on an emulator. Great fun.

  • why is game boy yellow:((

  • Awesome! Epic Gameboy in hand shot ftw !! Oh I had a dream I got a modded yellow gameboy with ldsj...I woke up and was so pissed...

  • anamanaguchi anyone?

  • When i started gameboy music, i didn't ask 500 stupid questions to the artist. Theres this knew thing called GOOGLE. maybe you should RESEARCH gameboy music before you make yourself look like a fool. But since you people wont listen: You need to buy the LSDJ rom and either load it onto a cartridge for your gameboy, or use an emulator on your pc.

  • Damn you littlescale, you make us all look bad, :) sorry imm drunk

  • Are you loading this copy of lsdj from a rom using a backup device? Or do you have an actual copy of LSDJ?

  • 9 people got no heart *-*

  • This is so good, but what are all the comments talking about !?

  • when i was 4. i had like 20 Gameboy colors! =P

  • is this gameboy overclocked/underclocked?

  • Yellow gameboys look really interesting, no idea why haha

  • Im really new to making 8bit music. If anyone wants to, check out one of my songs n tel me wut u think:)

  • what is lsdj like to use... and my main dorky question... is it hard? XD im such a noob

  • This is amazing! I'm working on a album using a Gameboy and a Nintendo Ds. It is amazing stuff!

  • Is this on Nanoloop or what?

  • is this recorded in live mode ?

    Acousticchip.x

  • haha, my yellow DMG-01 has the screen plate missing also.

  • I have a dmg-01 :) But not LSDJ. Never heard of it.

  • :l -_-

  • Hmm... I bought a gameboy pocket for lsdj but it wouldn't run... is yours modified in some way?

  • i have a gbp its tht it doesnt have enough power to run it so you need have like a extra power source or something

  • He's not using a pocket, that's just a regular gameboy.

  • right! I didn't realize DMGs came in yellow so I thought it was a pocket because the screen is missing (My pocket is the same color)

  • Easy way to tell is the bottom of the screen, the pockets say pocket lol.

  • Wow, you're DMG and tunes are cool :3 5 stars.

Do you know where I can get a cool DMG for relatively cheap? (besides ebay and amazon :P)

    Thanks~~~~

  • garage sales. dirt cheap. you just have to put a bit of work into looking. that's about the only way to get them cheap, because people online realize that they are rare, unlike silly soccer moms.

  • They are not rare at all

  • ones in good enough condition to do this kind of stuf are

  • LOL

I got a clear one for £2.50 off a guy who was selling it from his 9 year old daughter......

    \/\/1|\|!!!1eleven

  • @SpacePigeon5 got mine the other day DMG 01 grey 1989 model for £3.50 in a charity shop! i've got four coming that i got as a job lot on ebay for 99p an postage so i guess i'll mod them... weird how when your not looking for something it shows up in your lap! : D

  • simply put, ebay is amazing :3 i got a russian tank helmet a couple of weeks ago and it has huge headphones built in to it! :D

  • wait, wth?? XD

    EBAY FTW

  • @SpacePigeon5 LMAO playing war games in styleeeee. ::Sunglasses Smiley::

  • i love that gameboy! what year is that?

  • its a 1989 dmg-01 without a screen cover!

  • can anyone tell me when u buy a lsdj what comes with it pls?? i did read from the website but i didnt understand what came with it :P thanks

  • its just a rom that you have to transfer to a cartridge or if you are luck y find one ebay or the likes..peace and good luck

  • Search "kitsch bent" on google, it should be the first or second link you can buy carts there, including the new USB carts which are lovely

  • That is so cool!!

  • :o, wow! Great chiptune :D, 5/5

  • wow you asked how to do this and 6 people thumbed you down wtf? lol bit unfair really...

  • I know its lame and nobody gives me an answer :( man i want to do this on my gameboy

  • That sucks sorry about that.

You need to buy a 3rd party game called Little Sound DJ and then you need to figure out how to play it there's guides on the internet. I'm doing it for free on my computer right now too with an emulator (Visual Boy Advanced) and using "roms" it's free that way. Hope I helped :P

  • thanks

  • i have the lsdj program...but where is a good place to get a cartridge? what are good prices?

  • what does 8bit mean?

  • chiptune, lofi music, oldsckool song

  • 8bit > 32bit (:

  • 8bit > Evrything

  • I'm trying to do this...

I don't know where to start! XD

    Your goood!! <33

    Can anyone give some pointers??

  • hi there, you need to look up a program called LSDJ for nintendo game boy. If you have any more questions, please let me know :) PS > Are you a vegetarian?

  • @littlescale I am

  • @littlescale please help me how ?!?! do , u do it ... x

  • @littlescale But you need to buy the cartridge with the software on it? Or does some kind of Acekard/M3/Action replay device exist for this with a ROM loader through microSD or something? you know, like for Nintendo DS..

  • @pastorrtom

Go to Kitsch-Bent's webshop and order the cartridge they have there.

If you bought LSDj, and can proove it, they'll flash it onto the cartridge for ya.

  • Yeah I know about the LSDJ thing...I'm just confused about the downloading process and getting it onto the cart.

    (I'm kind of lame...haha)

    Thanks you!!! <3

    And yes. :D

  • instead of downloading it to the cart you could order one from 8bitpeoples[dot]com

    thats where i got mine.

  • This is cool...

  • Love it. I should recieve my own LSDJ soon :)

  • awesome.

  • are there any tutorials for explaining livemode??

  • i havent a clue how to use livemode well, but excellent job littlescale! its super ninjad btw :)

  • oh, hi super ninjad, thanks for the comment :) i have never really used the song mode much, lol

  • @littlescale right on brother! I only use the song mode during live performances when im tired and taking a break.

  • this is definitly better and more entertaining then watching a bunch of talentless teenagers playing guitar on youtube

  • no way man

    chiptune is the shit

  • @DevinCCL word.

  • @DevinCCL actually it's the same shit. cause you need even less talent for making such a track :D

  • @FAWEXX You can't really compare the two, because they are two different kinds of things. Playing guitar requires more physical skill than making tracks on a tracker, but making a track requires more mental skill and creativity.

  • Sebastian jesteś najlepszy!

  • I like this.

I should use live mode more as well ;p

  • very nice : )

  • my head hurts from that song -.-

  • cool! :-)

  • i have every single type of gameboy including the gameboy light, but 1 want that yellow 1 so bad!

  • Yeah the yellow ones look neat, huh.

  • They sure do, and the best always use them.

  • I have a yellow GB :3 , but mine has still has the dark-grey screen window thing on :)

use it to listen to megaman music mostly , fits well with my yellow headphones.

  • I have a yellow GB. The screen fell of, but I glued it back on. Unfortunately, the glue took off some of the grey stuff from the cover, so now there are a few blotches of yellow. Still beautiful though.

  • What I like about this is your method of "playing" it, as opposed to programming and letting go.

  • its makes for much open structures in terms of the music...

  • were can i get an lsdj cartridge from?

  • you can try 8bitpeoples, nonfinite, kitsch or 10kfreemen.

  • thanks man. imma go check it out

  • kool gba

  • Hi there. This is an original GB, not a GBA. I love the yellow ones.

  • ?? live mode what does tht do

cause it popped up sometimes on me

and how do i access it

  • Select + Left on the Song Screen

    repeat to exit live mode

its a way of choosing parts to come in next and such

  • What are you actually pressing? Cos i just press start and less it play...Or are you playing in live mode?

  • Hi there, in this track I am playing in live mode.

  • Undoubtly my faveorite track of yours :) and what a sweet track it is!

  • Thanks, that very nice of you!

  • Where can i get the LSDJ Cartridge??

  • try nonfinite or kitsch on 8BC

  • i wish i had tht when i had my original gameboy n gameboy color

  • it would,ve been awesome if it also had a builtin voice modulater, but who ever know,s in the near future that some will come up with such idea too, to keep the gb alive.

  • does the music tracker also supports the digital sound channel ?cuzz the gameboy does, have it,allowing for voices, basses and drums etc,,,eventrough there micht be even a external sound input for mp3 players for better sound, but i can,t comfirm yet!!??

  • Yes, LSDJ support channel three (the wav channel) very well, allowing software based synthesis and sample playback even with some level of manipulation. For example, the drums in the track are being played on the wav channel.

I am not sure what you mean with "an external sound input for MP3 players" since this would then no longer be using the wav channel...

  • where can i buy the cartridge?

  • how do u do that

  • LSDJ is a music tracker. It lets you write tracks on the Game Boy.

  • how do you get it i ahve gba and ds

  • You need a flash cart if I recall correctly.

  • ok ty.

  • nice gameboy....i don't understand all those proram's....well maybe shud wait a while longer till i'm a bit smarter...

  • wtf is this? lsdj?

  • yep, lsdj

  • Nice :d

  • wow you actually cue your loops? i am a just push play man myself.

  • yeah, cue it up, lol. ;-)

  • but the point of lsdj (vs. nanoloop) is that you dont have to cue it up!

  • really? i think their differences are much more pronounced than this.

  • Liked it all, especially at 2:46.

You should make a tutorial at this stuff, you're pretty good!

  • how do you do this :S

    i wanna learn how

  • Hi there, look up LSDJ on google, there are many links! Manual, tutorials, tips and tricks, technical information! Hope this helps.

  • k thanks cause i wanna learn how to do this :]

  • oh

and can you use just a regular gameboy advance?

  • Yep, but the regular, old grey gameboys sound the best! But it is still possible to use a GBA.

  • alright

and were can i get a lsdj?

and i know what it is now

  • You can get it from the LSDJ website. You buy the ROM image and then you either can play it in an emulator on a computer (why?) or on a REAL GAMEBOY (yeah, that's the way!).

  • lmao kk

but the question is (its probably really easy) how do you get it on the gameboy?

  • You basically need a transfer device (ie. transferer, xchanger etc) and a rewriteable cart (eg smartcard). Or you can purchase the cart from a shop or an individual. For example, some people sell carts on 8bitcollective - The user Nonfinite comes to mind.

Hmm, look up Rob Webb's Family Game Shop, or the 8bitpeoples website store.

  • Fair enough!

You'd probibly work well with famitracker then in that case?

    I can't use trackers i'm hopeless!

but i'll give lsdj a shot!

  • Wow really enjoed this LSDJ track!

I'm going to get it soon i hope!

I've been using nanoloop for about 6/7 months now and that seems so much simpler than LSDJ!

  • I have nanoloop 1.3 as well, but i am so much more used to LSDJ. So i guess for me it is easier. But i see what you mean.

  • Are you used to trackers then? or is it just after so much use of LSDJ you found it easier?

  • I have never used a tracker before. But the LSDJ manual is great. And I really like the structural aspects of trackers.

  • ah fair enough.

I think you'd perhaps enjoy fami tracker, aparntly it's alot like LSDJ.

It blew my mind so i gave up hehe

  • ohckay

i found this lsdj rom and put it on my firecard.

    it looks like lsdj

but when i put in the notes it doesnt play anything.

and i can only stay on the track screen. (the one you were on first.)

    can you help me?

do you have to use an acual cart and have an original gameboy

because i have a gameboy color.

  • okay, could you please contact me via a YouTube messgae and give me a link for this 'firecard'?

  • Can you still use your gameboy (for games) if you are done with LSDJ???Sorry for being noobish, but i might get LSDJ soon.

  • oh yeah, for sure. LSDJ is just like a normal gameboy cartridge.

there is no need to mod the gb.

    ;-)

  • Thank you!

  • I'd have to ask though, did you use a special cartridge? and if so, where are they still available? And how did you transfer it to the cartridge?

  • I used an EMS 32mega bit cartridge purchased from Rob Webb. You can buy a package that includes a transfer device, a cartridge and the software needed to perform the transfer. It worked for me without any problems on windows XP.

  • IS that a real gameboy?

  • yes. it is a yellow one. with the front face plate missing.

  • oh, thank you.

  • I want LSDJ soo bad....

  • I cant find lsdj anywhere :( :(

  • ahh, if you go to littlesounddj dot com you can purchase the rom. there are also links to where you can purchase a transfer and blank carts from, so that you can play on a REAL gameboy, which is of course a must ;-)

  • The way you laid out that song resembled the way I usually do it.

  • hello

i have just got my liecence for LSDJ

and sent it to lameboy to get my cartriges

    cannot wait ti get it

thought i would say LSDJ is awsome!

    love the tune

  • LSDJ is so cool! And the fact that Johan updates it regularly is excellent.

    Cheers for the comment.

  • LIVE is fun mode

  • Bend it, bitch!

  • did you get my message?

  • hello,

    first of all amazing!!!!

secondly is it just an impression or do you transpose sequences when you hit start - like an arpeggiator?

  • hi there,

thanks for your comment. Basically, all of the notes are programmed into the sequence already -- including transpositions -- but what i am doing is triggering different phrases and different versions of phrases with the start button.

So basically, what i am doing live is playing the structure of the song.

    cheers,

  • -]. I seriously need to get that lsdj thing .[-

  • yes. yes you do. lsdj is great!
