  • Clint would still be ok.

    Who the hell is "Ronald"?

  • lol ronald

  • a roaming cowboy!? you woman, are a stupid mongrel disease carrying slut. i hope u get molested by pig monkey men in the woods

  • they better not fuck up oy. I have this horrible view of a terrible cgi scrappy do monstrosity.

  • howard has taken up a new project about an aussie racecar driver, ((though he says the dark tower is still in the works) from what i understand, the dark tower wont be "made" unitl next year, and i think they have decide to start from scratch, maybe a different roland? the problem with this film is universal studios is bitching about cost, so production has been haulted 5 or 6 times so lets all say it together FUUUUUUUUUUCK, but hey, mabe it will be better if they spend more time on it =(};~{P}

  • I love the dark tower series, but i think that ka itself is working in the prolonging of this film. It ought to just be remembered as the phenominal seiries it is, and left at that

  • Um, sorry to let you know, but it's a story King UPDATED, that long predates his birth...

  • @dandkfun King wrote the story, its extremely loosely based on the poem childe roland to the dark tower came. I wouldn't call the Dark Tower series an Update, Its a completely new story.

  • Roland is going to butcher this..

  • Viggo Should be roland

  • @klay369 i agree

  • Ever since i heard Javier Bardem,I didnt care for the idea. His acting appeals to me but i cant seem to visualize him with the roles I have seen him in as Roland,or as a look alike to the charactor i envision when i am reading the novels. Not that he isnt an excellent actor and a suitable cowboy-type. He certainly plays a very badass gunslinger type in No Country..i just cant envision him as Roland.

  • If they make it dissapointing,

i will throttle him in his sleep

  • Javier Bardeim....hmmmm...at first I think no...but hmmmm....he could do it

  • If the Dark Tower movie was made in the 60s, Clint Eastwood would have made a great Roland!

  • @RyderOmega I have read in one of the introductions to one of the book, or maybe heard it said in an interview that King actualy sort of loosley based Roland on Clint. Especialy his charactor in The Good the Bad,and the Ugly. Or that he sort of visualized Roland as a Clint Eastwood'esque persona.

  • @RyderOmega i always said that Clint was and is the perfect Roland Deschain, others will do but not as good as clint would have been

  • @RyderOmega in the begining i believe roland was modeled after clint from his spaghetti westerns

  • WHO THE FUCK IS RONALD?!

  • sadly, about the only King movie that wasn't cheesy was The shining. I don't see Opie Cunningham being up to the challenge. If they are going to do this it NEEDS to be on the level as the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

  • Vive le canadien de Montréal ! GO HABS GO !!!!!!!!!

  • Viggo ou rien !!

  • Michael Cera as Roland Deschain. Period.

  • Oh God if you people are making a Dark Tower trilogy you'd better connect it to The Talisman and The Black House (both by authors Stephen King and Peter Straub)

  • Did anyone happen to pass over the fact that Clevver refers in writing to Roland as "Ronald"? Sigh.

  • @heatherannabanana It ALMOST made me feel like Roland could be lame having a name so close to Ronald. But it's Roland, so nevermind.

  • If not Viggo at least Hugh jackman

  • Dolph Lundgren as Roland! Older than dirt and tough as nails. As long as he doesn't say much, he'd be awesome.

  • Viggo Mortensen is fukin perfect roland!!!

  • lol it says ronald not roland retards

  • It's not much to ask for...A tall, lanky man with cold blue eyes. Bardem is what they came up with?

  • I think Bardem is a fantastic actor, but he is not Roland...

  • javier barden ,, my ass. has to be viggo

  • am I the only one who thinks Clint Eastwood = Roland Deschain?

  • @McLovinTheGunslinger The Clint Eastwood from Pale Rider (1985) would be the perfect Roland, unfortunately Clint Eastwood of 2011 (2012 when filming begins) is just too old.) but your right that would have been the perfect Roland

  • *cowboy my bad

  • Viggo Mortensen would be perfect. He played a cow/ gunslinger type part in Hidalgo and Appalosa(sorry if i spelt it wrong) so he already has experience with the role, plus hes an amazing actor.

  • @jeffh0ffy that was always my first choice. for some reason he always came to mind first...

  • damn it opie, keep this ship afloat!

  • ROLAND not RONALD you fucking idiots... and javier bardumb??? are you fucking numb?

  • Bardem is not right for roland. I am skeptical that Howard has the horror chops to make this what it should be. If they go all soft and make it feel like another LOTR/Harry Potter/Twilight etc etc etc etc. series, I think I might puke on myself.

  • Javier Bardem is not right for the role and I am very dissapointted that Ron Howard is directing this. I hope he can pull it off. It's a huge project. I don't think he can. He's out of his depth. Damnit! So dissapointed

  • Fudgetoe? Yum!

  • There will b water if god wills it. As long as Howard remembers the face of his father and has ka on his side the movie will stand as an undying testimate to the tower itself. The beams may fall and the Chrimson king may rise but the fans will hold the tower strong.

  • I can honestly say I've been waiting 20+ years for this. I was reading Tower before most of you were in diapers. How do you guage epic? LOTR Trilogy was phenomenal! But wasn't precisely as Tolkien wrote it. Yes, expect deviations from Kings' original story, but I believe on the whole, the project will satisfy the true Tower fans.

IMO, if Clint Eastwood were 20 years younger, he would be the epitome of Roland of Gilead.

  • @jasnbirk I totally agree with that!! He would have been perfect!!

  • hope for the best, prepare for the worst. and look on the bright side, if we werent worried about it we wouldnt be true fans of the books and most of all the writer. we would be like the twilight fans who think anything coming out with Twilight on it is pure gold. (besides you have to be a fuckin retard to fuck Twilight up. Ryan Higa did all the work in like 6 minutes and still held true to the story.)

  • is he right for Ronald?! OF COURSE HE IS!

  • is he right for Ronald?! OF COURSE HE IS!

  • I have already resigned my hopes to the pits of hell and accepted the fact that they WILL fuck this up beyond all recognition. There will be masses of idiots that become SUPER FANS and act like they were fans the whole time before it became COOL. Most will never even read the book to know how bad the films are in comparison and how very, very ,much has been omitted and altered forthe time constraints of film and the content constraints of television. Your number one Fucking Stephen King Fan

  • Oh man, I am INSANELY excited about this... I really hope that the films do the books justice as I hate it when films ruin the books and I absolutely adore The Dark Tower; I have read a LOT of books and the Dark Tower series is miles, miles, above anything else. I don't know who Javier Bardem is as an actor, but he just doesn't look like Roland to me... at least not the way I imagine him.

  • Look at my videos Ron. They are better then angels and demons and the da vinci codes put together. I'm the guy who found the Garden of Eden- TAKE A LOOK AT MY VIDEOS !!!

  • Viggo mortensen is a fucking girl, rolands old tall and ugly, not some pansy. He ruined aragorn, lets not let him make roland look like some english pussy

  • It's ROLAND not RONALD. DUMBASSES!

  • Tom Jane would be a bad ass Roland as well as Viggo. My basis on such is for Tom Jane: The Punisher, enough said. Viggo played an awesome Aragorn. Personally, I think Peter Jackson would make a better director for this epic. If I know anything about Ron "Opie" "Richie Cunningham" Howard is he fucks movies up worse than anything. Mr. Howard please do not do the following: Make sussanah white, Eddie a retard, or Oy an affeminate catfish (Andy Serkis please)

  • there are 6 - 7 billion people on this planet im sure more than half a billion can act and half a million actually look like roland smmfh now this guy not only not working on the dark tower but he started another project as if he didnt need to be commited to this...

ps. hey ron if you reading this roland has blue eyes and skinny and is susannah is black with no legs...

  • Wow..!! i dont know what to say.? but i hope it all comes together just fine.? but for the lead role.? Javier Bardem is a great actor.? but doesnt fit the role.... id say hugh jackmen should of got the lead,? he can pull off the western look and can pass as a clint eastwood type....

  • good choice for roland but ive been saying viggo for years to bad clint is getting old

  • @Jayeyeell I think clint eastwood could still do it. It might take a bit of "movie magic" as they say, but roland's supposed to be ancient. And I think eastwood's age would help a lot with that. I could live with obvious stuntman shots and whatever weird digital effect they might be inclined to use to get the guy that embodies the genesis of the character.

  • "Is Javier Bardem right for Ronald?"

    who the eff is Ronald??

i know Roland... but no Ronald.

    bad typo

  • Bardem is wrong for the part. Viggo Mortensen is an excellent canidate for the role

  • Edred Jonas-Sam Eliot Dylan Patton-Cuthbert Allgood Spencer Breslin-Alain Johns DJ Qualls-Sheemie (Young) Andy Serkis-Gasher Philip Seymour Hoffman-Jack Mort Stephen Dorff-Henry Dean David Warner-Mayor Hart Thorin Helena Bonham Carter-Coral Thorin Clint Eastwood-Steven Deschain Helen Mirren-Gabrielle Deschain Christopher Walken-The Crimson King

  • Stephen Moyer-Roland Deschain

Thomas Deker-Roland(young) Nathan Gamble-Jake Chambers Jared Leto-Eddie Dean Zoe Saldana-Susannah Dean James Cromwell-Pere Callahan Mel Gibson-Randall Flagg Anthony Hopkins-Ted Brautidan Adrien Brody-Sheemie Ruiz Benicio Del Toro-Jack Andolini Donald Sutherland-Eldred Jonas Anjelica Huston-Rhea of the Coos Meaghan Jette Martin-Susan Delgado Bill Nighy-Aaron Deepneau Monica Bellucci-Mia

  • @BrianReisbeck oh my god... your line up is actually good...no...its on the money....but i think naomi would do a better susannah and i think ryan reynolds has the the humor to play eddie dean gary oldman could do the man in black

  • I have blue eyes... xD

  • THUMBS UP is u Miss Chelsea!!!!!!! :(

  • for some reason i thought this was gonna be about harry potter...

  • anyone else see the typo at the start?? Who the fuck is RONALD???

  • I don't see Bardem as Roland...maybe as the ''man in black'' or even one of the italian(yes, i know he is spanish!) gangsters from ''the drawing of the three''. For Roland they should go with either, Viggo Mortensen, Stephen Moyer, or Josh Brolin!

If they can go back in time to 1985...then CLINT would be IDEAL!

Some other actors that would also be good in that role are-Christian Bale, Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman, Hugh Laurie, Daniel Day Lewis, & Kiefer Sutherland.

  • @BrianReisbeck No offense, but when you are the one producing the movie you can dictate who the cast is. Keep in mind the actors you want have to have an interest in the part and be available to film it all at the same time otherwise you do like all the rest and go with the best of what you had to choose from.

  • @NJRinglord-No offense BUT in this clip it asks the viewer IF they think Bardem is right for the part AND who we would prefer in the role! My comment was quite relevant!

I did exactly as was asked Did you? As a fan of the books and a potential patron of the films/series it is the PRODUCERS job to satisfy people who have REAL opinions about this production, LIKE ME. Do you actually have your own opinion on who should be cast? Or is it easier to criticise my opinions? Thankee-Sai!

  • @BrianReisbeck Did you ever stop to think for yourself & realize they are asking a stupid question to begin with? The question is not relevant just for the reasons I stated. Not to mention idiots are always voicing their opinions on who should play what part even if they are not asked as if their opinion mattered before they actually go see the movie. The only way Hollywood producers hear your opinion is at the actual box office. Btw it is the producers job to get the film made, not satisfy you

  • @NJRinglord - lol, since everone's opinions are ''idiotic'', except your own...if you were a producer, you would not listen to your fan base and try to satisfy them...you would simply get a film made, it would tank, then you would lose your job and it would go to someone who would try to satisfy the audience and therefore make a bigger return on the investment!

Please, for the sake of people who actually care about movies, stay away from the film industry! lol

    Are you Joel Shoemaker? jk

  • @BrianReisbeck You obviously have no concept of how the movie industry works. Fans ONLY matter at the box office end, they get no say in the production. The producer is doing the film for the studio who put the money up to make it. The producer's job is to make the film for the studio on time and as close to under budget as possible it is not to go on fan sites and ask their opinions. Actors fans want may have no interest in the part or have other commitments so they can't do it no matter how...

  • @BrianReisbeck ... many fans may want the actor to play the part. Movies despite being fantasy are made in reality where what the fans want is not as important as the fans think it should be. Ever heard the expression, "Too many chiefs and not enough Indians" ? That is how things would be if producers tried to listen to fans since they will never all agree. If a movie tanks the studio puts it in the loss column for a nice tax write off and moves on with an excuse to remake it in the future.

  • @NJRinglord - you seem to have deviated from this clip, the movie/series it speaks about, and the sorce material books by Steven King. Your comments seem to be addressing capitalist producers, and the film industry as a whole...perhaps a different forum for you your comments would be more applicable..

AGAIN in this clip it asks the viewer IF they think Bardem is right for the part AND who we would prefer in the role! Do you have ANY opinions about THIS production? Have you read the books?

  • @NJRinglord - You seem to think that how the movie idustry works is more interesting than The Dark Tower, books, series, and films...I Sooooooo do not agree. More power to ya though. While your enjoying ''film school'', i'll be enjoying TDT!

Bye the way, either Christopher Walken or William Defoe for the part of the Crimson King would be excellent casting!

    Thankee-Sai!

  • @BrianReisbeck I never read the books, I don't go to film school I just happen to know how the business world works and that is what movie making is from the studio side, business first. You enjoy your imaginary movie of TDT with your imaginary cast and I will enjoy the real thing when it comes out with the cast the professional film makers chose for each role.

  • @NJRinglord you STILL seem to be stuck speaking of the buisness world! it makes me sad that you are devoid of imagination...after all the story and characters aren't ''real'', they are the work of Steven Kings imagination! The books and upcomming movies/series contain a lot of fantasy elements, so you probably shouldn't bother watching them or commenting on them untill you aquire an imagination of your own! lol

    Thankee-Sai!

  • @BrianReisbeck I have plenty of imagination. I imagine that you actually have some intelligence and that takes a MASSIVE amount of imagination. You are the one who is stuck, not seems to be, but are stuck. You are stuck in the imaginary world where who you want to play a part in a movie actually matters to anyone except you. Stephen King wrote the books and he most likely thinks who they chose to play the character he wrote is just fine.

  • it's Andrea!

  • Yep, as someone hinted in the comments, this would be awesome with Viggo Mortensen in the lead role...

  • fuck these stupid movies! give me halo movie you stupid movie making people ugly mother fuckers!!

  • Please! Make it epic or don't make it at all!

  • @Empir37 I would prefer if someone like Peter Jackson or Spielberg actually made this movie. I have a feeling that it may not be that epic after all T_T

  • HBO original series >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>... feature movie. Look at Game of Thrones.

  • I wonder who will score the movies. I hope James Horner or someone who can make western like themes like Beltrami.

  • this story is meant to be "unfilmable" but then again so was lord of the rings and dune

  • Bardem! He is a great actor and very soulful!

  • You're telling me there are no actors with blue eyes who could play Roland? Guess contacts would be okay. Doesn't Viggo Mortensen have blue eyes?

  • @sachaput well universal studios pulled the project, but my cast i want to see is:

    Roland ~ Daniel Day Lewis

Eddie~Shia Labouf (only snotty new york kid i can think of)

Susannah~Rutina Wesley (Tara from True blood)

Jake has to be an unknown

  • Bardem would be awesome but they would need to give him REALLY blue contact lenses

  • OMG YAY :D

  • MY GF IS A BIG DARK TOWER FAN AND SAID THE GUNSLINGERS TRADEMARK IS PIERCING BLUE EYES

  • Epic can not wait to see it :)

  • Please let Javier Bardem get it!

  • NEED TO GIVE HIM CONTACTS BUT THINK HE WOULD DO A GOOD JOB...FIRST
