THE DREAMS OF MR MULDOON is now out on AMAZON KINDLE @2.99.The publishers said this book would make a great film......you will love THE DREAMS OF MR MULDOON.Best wishes.
@Baskerville22 There was a lot of cutting in both parts of the movie. A few characters never got added such as Wade, Ella, and Will. Wade and Ella were technically Scarlett's first children they just didn't get much Screen Time and Will was another minor but very important character. Trust me there was a lot cut out in both parts as I've read the book and can see that they cut out a lot but still kept the story.
@lollipopfop - you should see the original..it was really good..and back when it was made there were actually people still alive who were in the war..I think when they made Scarlett was such a mistake..didn't like that one at all...
why was it always back then the youngest and most prettiest of actresses always had to do movies with actors in their 30's and 40's and they were old and had to kiss them! it annoys me.
I used to hate this movie when I was a kid, but now that i'm like older, oviously, and can appreciate the themes and emotions and things of the movie, it's SUCH a classic
in the book it does describe how scarlett thinks she might love rhett but blahs it (grrrrrrrrrrrrr) because she loves ashley-or thinks she does!grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Manners are very important in the south. We also place great importance on family and knowing who is kin to whom. "He married Jessica Carroll of Carrollton, who was his second cousin once removed and kin to the Wilkes' too" (Aunt Pittypat Hamilton)
In Atlanta, people ask, "What is your business?" In Macon, they ask "What is your church?" In Augusta, they ask, "What is your great great great grandmother's maiden name?" Here in Savannah we ask, "What would you like to drink?" (From "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil")
A great follow up to the earlier scene where, dressed scandalously in an afternoon dress at a morning barbecue ("You cain' show yo' bosom befo' 3:00!"), Scarlett greets India, dressed like an old matron school marm) with a sugar-coated torpedo as the O'Haras arrive at Twelve Oaks: "India Wilkes! What a lovely dress! I just can't take my eyes off it!"
I live in Charleston, SC, and Alicia Rhett, aka, India Wilkes, is still alive and kicking here. I saw her one time, a few years back, and recognized her even at her advanced age. My Great-Grandmother was an acquaintance of hers.
and we know how in Charleston how important the acquaintances of one's great-grandmother is! :)
"In Atlanta, they ask 'What is your business?' In Macon, they ask 'What is your church?' In Augusta they ask 'What is your great-great grandmother's maiden name?" Here in Savannah we ask, 'What would you like to drink?"
check out Erich Kunzel directing the Cincinnati Pops on their CD The Ultimate Movie Music Collection. There is a brilliant re-recording of Tara's Theme faithful in its romance and grandeur to Max Steiner's original score.

A great movie for its time. Looks overblown now. Could have used a great deal of cutting in its 2nd half.

I read the book, and I want to see a movie of it. But I think Id like to see a remake. I don't care for old films. I always think they overact.

@lollipopfop
You can't remake perfect with the perfect actors. It can't be done.
I would flop. New flims are mostly very crude and rude and they have
no class. They have very few actors who could carry this giant off even half
right. It stands alone through time.

What does where you live have to do with a movie and it's merits?
You plainly don't get it.
