It's a valve that is put in line on the exhaust pipe b4 the muffler. When they're closed u get the sound and flow through the muffler. When the cutouts r open it bypasses the muffler and u basically have a straight pipe exhaust.

@CESAR213 I believe he has the DMH low-profile cutouts, I have the same ones. They cost $400 to buy, installation varies a lot depending on who does the install and if you run the wires yourself. For me, the cheapest I could find for the install was $150, so $550 total. I did the wiring myself so the switch is completely hidden. Welcome to the Top Banana club!

Had an '88 Jaguar XJ6. It had a 3.6L Engine with Hemispherical Valve Heads or whatnot. For all intents and purposes, it was a "hemi" without the name.

having a "hemi" has nothing to do with how cool your car sounds and actually the reason car manufactures cant use the name hemi is because it has a patent on the name. but they can still use the design because it is alot more efficient in burning gas.

@emilbus47 No one uses the Hemi design but Dodge. The Hemi is also not more fuel efficient....Or cleaner burning....That's why after the first year they all come with MDS (STR NOT INCLUDED) or you pay a gas guzzler tax. They also have two spark plugs per cylinder so it ignites on the way out so it will pass emissions.

I was thinking about getting cutouts, but I find that the noise is too much from the front. Also, since they are totally illegal, its weird for a cop to hear your car go from loud to silent. Since it is legal for them to look under your car now, thats a huuuuuuge ticket...
