I have not lived in the quarter in a number of years... but like all cities there are safer areas than other ... I lived in the quarter and walked the streets all night long every night no place like it... enjoy your trip You will love it like no other place ...
if you've never been to bourbon street, and you like to party, GO! hehe. wife and i went and stayed 3 nights. the whole street is one big party. every night. we loved it.

bourbon street is awesome ! you can go there every day, any time of the day, and find some people who invite you to party and get drunk with them !

and if you go, go to a club called bourbon rocks. great club, and the band that plays there sunday through thursday nights is fantastic.
