  • I Love It <3

  • I'm so glad this was chosen for the Royal Wedding! I doubt I would have been exposed to it if it hadn't. It's become one of my favorite songs for my personal worship. I love the use of scripture. Just beautiful.

  • This is my Still Moment...

  • As with most of John Rutter's music, I often think it's not quite going to work, at first, but when I come to know it, it all flows perfectly. This piece is exquisite, and I hope I get a chance to sing it with my choir.

  • A despicable piece of shit.

  • i want this piece to be sung in my wedding or when i walk the aisle

  • John Rudder is a brilliant composer! This anthem also means so much to me and my family both living and in memory of the deceased.

  • Muy hermoso tema, resultó conmovedor. Bendiciones para todos!

  • 5 months ago today <3 love you William and Catherine <3

  • 5 people hate the britsh :(

i loved this wedding she was beautiful

  • This song means a lot to me, I heared it one day after I got the result of having cancer... I was so touched by the melody and lyrics... and I was thinking that when I get married to my boyfriend that I would want to have this played on my wedding day. I had not told my boyfriend at that time about my cancer, a couple of days later when I told him, he asked me to marry him. We are getting marriend in one week and we will have this song at the end of our ceremony. The song means everything to us!

  • @billy91070 just a beautiful song Billy . . . very inspirational

  • a beautiful song -a lovely choir what more do you want

  • a beautiful song

  • OMG i dunno how Kate couldn't cry...i surely did :X:X:X

  • This video is only ruined by George Osborne shuffling about in the back like a bellend.

  • @musicianlaurence Ha ha, what a comment!!!!!! That made my day.

  • This piece is a beast. I understand that John Rutter has not made any move to publish it yet, although I'm sure he will eventually once enough hype has been made.

  • Bit of a change of creative direction.. .Mr Rutter seems to have managed a piece not in D Flat or G Flat Major...

  • Whereas I do not wish to accuse John Rutter of downright plagiarism, the first seven notes DO resemble Disney´s "Beauty and the Beast". Could it be a case of sub-conscious association or does he see a parallel to the characters in the film? 8<)

  • Singing and directing John Rutter's compositions is an absolute delight! Bravo! Bravo! This is by far one of John's best works. Listening with awe!! Marvelous!!

  • anyone has this arrangement?

  • WOW. Absolutely amazing. I thought the most beautiful moments of the song came at the harmonies at these points:

    1) 0:47 "rejoice and be glad in it.."

    2) 1:16, "..praise him all ye stars and light"

    3) 3:31 "he shall defend thee"

I could listen to this on repeat forever. I would love for choirs everywhere to learn an arrangement of this!

  • he shall defend thee, he shall defend thee. wow.

  • John Rutter! You've done it again!!! Oh, please, PUBLISH IT!!!!! I so want my choir to do this lovely piece, soon!

  • Nice :) I notice it's available on spotify too with even better audio quality. I'm not a religious guy, nor a royalist, but I like moving music, so I like this :)

  • This is what you'll hear in heaven.

  • @Jienfantastiku but yet you heard it on earth

  • Fantastic - so moving - just lovely

  • OMG Thanks for posting it! I have been waiting for this! :)

  • God Bless bloody BBC for this exceptional moment!!! <3

  • John Rutter has written a magnificent piece music. Performance of Westminster Abbey Choir was perfect.

  • @elCiula Sure indeed ! The best one from whole ceremony !

  • The choir sang like angels from the heavens. A beautiful song for such a beautiful wedding day for William & Kate. Thank you for posting! God Bless.

  • love this tune

(and once again critics who thumb their noses at melodies of great beauty and simplicity are taking shots at rutter everywhere on the net)

  • amazing! thanks for this perfect wedding!!!! i love you william and kate...^^

  • My only negative comment on the entire wedding was this piece of music. I adored every other choice. The ceremony was beautiful and moving. It was just sad that Rutter was compose this psalm setting. I have no complaint about the psalm either by the way. Rutter is just a second rate composer. Compare this piece to the ubi caritas arrangement also on utube. THAT IS an example of a British (Welsh) composer who should be held up for celebration

    !

  • @michaelgc53 I think John Rutter would be the first to agree with your sentiments (albeit expressed in a way I'd not) as to his stature when compared with the Pantheon of humanity's greatest composers. He's emphatically not "second-rate" however. In terms of musical communication, he can strike heart and mind like a thunderbolt, as he did here. Moreover, his music appeals to "ordinary" people whose experience of "classical" music might have been limited, or even hostile. That's a true musician.

  • yes, thank you so much! this was so awesome!

  • Thanks for posting. I serged for it for days! Vielen Dank!

  • yes, this is the best! it is such a poignant song for this momentous occasion.

    thanks for posting!

  • Two choirs singing so in such harmony... amazing

  • The choir was the standout in the whole wedding, sorry Kate and Willaim

  • @UltimateGuitarist17 man i totally agree with you man. Music seriously is the universal language, I could hear this all day and never get bored of it. Love choir's. beautiful music.

  • Does just about evry1 else find this as breathtakingly beautiful as I do? This is truely the most beautiful thing I have evr heard in my life. I keep the whole wedding on my dvr just so that I can listen to these boys sing. Absolutely incredible! Wish I could have heard it live at the wedding! :( 1 can only dream!

  • This is so trite! Sounds like it was written for a new Disney animated film. It does not compare with historic catalog of past British choral literature. Loved the Ubi Caritas de Amore.

  • @michaelgc53 It's Psalm 118 so blame whoever wrote the Psalm (and then the highly acclaimed John Rutter for the arrangement) if you must be curmudgeonly about it.

The only thing that spoiled this beautiful day was the (thankfully small) number of whingers who seemed to go out of their way to find something to dislike about it...and then let everyone know.

  • This song is so beautiful I cannot stop listening to it over & over again. I heard it watching the Royal Wedding and I vowed to learn it and play in my Yamaha Clavinova. Thank you so much for posting it.

  • This was a wonderful contribution to the royal wedding, I hope to hear it more often. Well done Jonn Rutter.

  • this was a wonderful contribuuion to the royal wedding, well dond Jonn Rutter

  • Thank you for sharing! This was my favorite part of the ceremony.

  • Beautiful!!! Angelic!!!!

  • where can we get the music of that beautiful arragement?

  • YES Finally someone upload this bit. Been hoping for it! So enchanting! I loved it! Cheers mate! (:

  • Thank you :)!!!

  • Amazing ! i have listened to it over 70 time now and cant get bored from it !!!

  • I just fell in love with the song when I heard it during the ceremony. And by the way, the boy at 1:40 to 4:51 looks like the young Prince William. :)

  • sorry, can't agree. technically pretty solid, but sooooo schmaltzy.

    de gustibus etc.

  • Why do some of the guys have white bowties and some of them don't?

  • @jenfroe8806 They are "Gentlemen of Her Majesty´s Chapel Royal, St James´ Palace, London", professional singers who sing on Sunday mornings in the chapel of St James´ Palace, where several members of the Royal Family have lived/live. The boys in red and gold tunics are also in this choir. They always sing at Royal weddings, funerals and coronations. I´m an ex-member.

  • @Eurofrank1 Oh ok. Thank you!

  • these kids are just amazing. i can't believe that can sing that well at such a young age!!

  • @dolphins1298 these children go to special music schools. the kids in white go to 1, the kids in red to another. but both emphasize music. the Westminster Abbey Choir children perform 6 days a week at regular services, and the Chapel Royal Choir kids also perform, but at 2 different churches.

  • @dolphins1298 and of course they have to be young- usually starting around age 7, otherwise they couldnt sing treble.

  • Anyone know where I can get the choral arrangement?

  • No comment just beautiful !

  • love it

  • This had me in tears. Me, no fan of the Royal family or pomp & ceremony. But this was stunning, and I still get emotional when I hear it.

  • I was and still am absolutely amazed by this stunning song and I just wonder all the time...do you think there´s any chance to get the sheet music...??

  • Lovely piece that caught the moment perfectly......

  • Hermosísimo y emotivo....Coro espectacular, melodía maravillosa e himno hecho especialmente para los contrayentes por John Rutter.....Divino!!!!

  • Ohhh how I love and adore this song!!! So so great. Thank you from deep of my heart for this video. I have bought already the song in iTunes.

    Bless you!!!

  • Really loved this composition. A great anthem of blessing for the royal couple.

  • I have been searching for this arrangement since Friday! Thank you so much for uploading this. :)

  • @shanti804 : you may find the whole cd already on iTunes. I myself be surprised about that. Just have a look. Wishing you a great time.

  • This was just beautiful

  • After Silence, That which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is Music... From the very first beautiful wave of music that passes to the last, once again John Rutter shows his amazing talent. Wonderful Choir, Wonderful occasion and in the most Wonderful building.......In the House of The Lord.

  • Love this man!!!!,,,,no one writes musci like him!!!...simply glorious!...could not have been a more perfect tribute to Will & Kate!..Thank you,John!

  • Surely can't be long before it's Sir John Rutter.

  • what a great showcase for 21st century british composers :) i had chills when i first heard this...

  • A wonderful marriage of God's holy Word and an inspired musical composition, performed sensitively to the praise of the Lord.

  • @stiddykindlepins no, its just a really lovely song! Performed for the millions of people watching it! lol!

  • Great song!!! Some of the best harmonies I've ever heard. Wow!!!!!

  • Another classic anthem from John Rutter! Beautiful!

  • absolutely perfect.

  • At 1:03, apologies!

  • Amidst this soul-uplifting piece, I must add that I was rather touched by Lord Chancellor Kenneth Clarke's evident sensitivity as the camera picked him out - a veteran British politician of immense stature, integrity and humanity.

  • Absolutely stunning in every way possible.

  • OMG! I love it! Thank you!!!

  • I LOVE this rendition...chills...I have to say I crack up when I see the "angel" at 1:20...just too adorable!! Thanks for posting!!

  • Absolutely Beautiful . . . .

  • Chills! I got chills down to my soul! Beautiful voices!!

  • Surely this video is BBC copyright material?

  • @vidzvoyeur somewhat. the event was so big and costly that many different media groups within countries teamed up to provide coverage. so yeah, the BBC made the film of this, but the wedding was public and not some special BBC program so they cant copyright it.

  • @4FabBEATLES - Well digitalstonemason certainly has no right to post this video online! Who do you think paid for broadcasting the wedding? The BBC, who then licensed the broadcast to other TV stations around the world. They too helped foot the bill. Strictly speaking, the Crown probably retains the coyright. But no mere YouTube uploader.

  • @vidzvoyeur Lighten up !!

  • @Roseburg93 - I suggest you as a responsible adult find out how YT's erosion of copyright has destroyed income streams for photographers, musicians and film-makers and their families.

  • @vidzvoyeur I have bought more stuff from Amazon.uk etc after watching clips on YT, including fostering an interest in whole genres of music, literature and comedy that hadn't appeared on my radar before. The really great thing about YT though is that you can discover the thoughts and opinions of others.

  • @Roseburg93 The same file sharing thing is producing more online sales. The whole sales streams and channels are changing, the same dvd and cd are going to end. Why the major labels don't want to understand?

  • @vidzvoyeur it doenst mattter. the ENTIRE wedding is already on youtube by the BBC and ABC and man many other orgnizaitons and people. if its infringement, youtube will take it down. its not up to youtube users to define copyright laws.

  • @4FabBEATLES - That's complete rubbish ("the ENTIRE wedding") and you know it. The BBC has post a handful of brief highlights from the wedding, and the overseas TV networks even fewer. And none of the musical highlights. For the very reason that they're licensed. The copyright laws are clearly defined in YouTube's terms & conditions which you and I signed up to when we joined. We certainly don't define them ourselves.

  • This was the best of the whole ceremony! Incredibly beautiful! Bravo John Rutter and Bravo the performers!

  • @pianoboy76

    Agree!! Best moment :)

  • THIS. IS. AMAZING.

  • I have just listened to John Rutters 'Candlelight Carol' again, even though it's obviously NOT Christmas... But his works truly are AMAZING and make me cry with their simplistic beauty... *sighs* :0)x

  • His arrangements are always stunning. We sang his arrangement of "For the Beauty of the Earth" when I was in high school and it was always a favorite of our chorus. Rutter never disappoints!

  • John Rutter is an amazing composer of our modern era... This song is beautiful and utterly charming... It is among my favourites now along with his Christmas song... Simply wonderful...

Congratulations once more to their Royal Highnesses Prince william and Catherine Duke and Duchess of Cambridge...

A long and happy life to you both... :0)x

  • Thank you for posting this! I've been searching since the wedding yesterday. Thank you!

  • one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard!

  • I've listened to this so many times now. It is so beautiful. Thank you for posting this here.

  • I love it..
