Imagine if your mommy swapped bedside fairy tales with stories from the Bible. Imagine what religion you would be apart of if you were born in India or China. Imagine if people actually killed one another for working on the day of Sabbath. Imagine politicians lying to you about their personal beliefs. The Bible has too many holes to work logically; that is unless you cherry pick what you'd like to believe, deciding which verses are to be taken literally, figuratively or dropped entirely.
The bible is not vague if you actually read it (not just parts) Also it is not hate to believe in sin and punishment for it. Every president has believed in God. The majority of Americans and senators, congressmen, teachers, scientists and the population at large believe in God. They would say as I do that you deny irrefutable evidence, history and testimony. You can call the greatest minds and leaders wrong if you want, but maybe you can look into why they believe? No hate here:)
@jamieseiple The majority of top scientists do not hold your beliefs at all. Einstein was an atheist. Hawking is agnostic. Senators and presidents say they believe in your god to get your vote. The Bible is the world's longest game of telephone. It was based off of stories told by illiterates 30-90 years after supposed events had taken place. It was re-edited and re-translated countless times. Kings added and removed certain parts as they saw fit for their political ideology.
@anticorncob6 I suggest watching David Attenborough's life of mammals series from 2002. It's great insight in the evolution of mammals, and the last episode is mostly about how apes and humans evolved and what our ancestors looked like.
@anticorncob6 Before hominids, hominins, apes, there were simpler primates, simpler mamals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, invertebrates...and towards the beginning they were bacteria, other single-cellular life-forms, self replicating molecules, ribonucleotides, proteines, amino acids...we.re more than 3 billion years back then, pushing on 4 billion years actually. Evolution has taken a looong time on this planet.Water and amino acids came from meteorites that bombarded Earth 100s of mlns of years
Just to think that every part of your body is made of material from billions of years ago is astonishing. When people start to understand the much more elegant and significant history of life, the appreciation for time here on earth will be more significant than the hopes of an afterlife.
Carl Sagan - "Our collective free time needs to shift as much as possible to education. Whether you're a young student or finished school long ago, get out to the library whenever you can and work hard to learn everything you can about this world. Each individual and society will benefit from being able to solve more problems and make better decisions. Education is an amazing discovery process that repays you endlessly."
your not gonna live but once, its better to know the truth about your origin's,than to live in a fantasy land.,unlike some people on here,i want to know where i came from,
CARL SAGAN - "Almost no one attempts to educate themselves on the basics of science and technology, yet our society is based on these. TV takes up far too much of our time and is apparently much more attractive to most of us than the beauty and wonder of science. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces." - CARL SAGAN
evolution is looking to create the ultimate creature it started off basic and now our level is meant to be able the fix the problems in the body that occur naturally to further strengthen us the creature that hasn't stopped living for 4 billion years.
Ironically, I believe that science is in fact slowing our evolution. The better our medical science, the longer we live. The long we live, the slower we evolve.
@LynnwoodMadMan Really what's important is the rate of procreation. Though maybe the longer we expect to live the longer we wait to have children, so you may still have a point.
@LynnwoodMadMan Well, if intelligence is the preferred target direction _we_ want our evolution to take on, then developing a more advanced technological framework within which to grow up and procreate if successful at adapting to the use and further development of said technology is actually strengthening the selective pressure. Of course if the targeted direction is physical strength, agility, natural longevity, denser bones, or other physiological changes then we are indeed hampering it :p
@LynnwoodMadMan science and our way of life isnt slowing evolution, its making us evolve to a worse point. dumb people get extra help, some sorts of retardedness can be solved with medicine, bad imun system gets on etc etc.. and the longer we live wont make evolution go slower, the longer we use before we reproduce will ^^,
@oaaserud you lost me on that one starchild,i know enough about the cosmos, the big bang, planetary nebula's.pulsar's,quasar's,and neutron stars, maybe you need to read pale blue dot..or the legacy of charles darwin on the origin of species.i know more about evolution and the universe than you do,,i get that 20 IQ later, thanks,
@MrNance91 then you have to know about survival of the fittest, which you proved not to by saying my nick spoke for it self, and calling me a madman when explaining it to you =) so now you "know" that you know more than me from me explaining where my last name fame from? WOOW.. you are just a super duper extra special genius arent you? stop with the stupidity please ^^
@LynnwoodMadMan That's not exactly true. Evolution is simply constantly adapting. If people survive things they would previously have died from, they no longer NEED to adapt to that. We will always be evolving to adapt to our situation. There will always be certain traits that lead to a higher rate of survival, and thus we will always be evolving.
« i wonder why the only thick hair is only on our head? »
Many hypotheses for that. Two of the most commonly mentioned are adaptation to savannas, where it is important to be able to freely shed heat, and adaptation to existence in water-rich areas, where fur might inhibit the ability to move freely through water.
@TheBioshow because we lost the gene that produces full body hair so we looked like baby apes and could easily mingle with the adults and not be disturbed, but hair still had a purpose covering the parts of our body still susceptible to low temperatures.
@WolfEyesatNight dont blame science for doing harm, science has nothing to do with harm or good, science is the way we explain everything we see around us, and what happens around us. what WE do with it, is our choice. we are still a dumb race, we prefer fairytales even if it kills people, and we use guns to settle dilemmas. science says fuck off to all of that, and stays objective.
@WolfEyesatNight Well first, most religious people I know are enslaved, not enlightened. Secondly, belief in a deity is not required to seek enlightenment. Buddhism, for example, does not require it. I have a number of friends that are members of various enlightening religions such as that without believing in God at all.
i agree, when people accept someone else's answers or comments as facts, without personally inquiring into them, are in did enslaved to their ignorance.
be it, religion, political, social, university or ANY other kind of teaching or ideology.
I don't see science as the panacea or answer to solve man's conflicts,
If you identify yourself with Buddhism or any association, nationality, group, the result will
All conflicts are the supreme failure to meet the needs of individuals, all war all racisim religious conflict is based around pack mentaility squabling of scarce resources. Evolve beyond money and adequeatly and responsibly use technology to meet peoples needs and they will behave quite differently.
I'm certain once that occurs religion but not spirituality will almost totally dissapear.
No it would not be a perfect world, just a lot better than the one we have, look up jacque fresco on youtube and if you have an open mind listen to what he has to say about human nature behavior etc,
@winterstellar Absolutely no evidence that evolution exists. The Earth is motionless and at the centre of the universe, and there's nothing an ignoramus like you can do about it.
Astrophysicist Yatendra P. Varshni did extensive work on the spectra of quasars. In 1975 he catalogued 384 quasars between redshift of 0.2 and 3.53 and, amazingly, found that they were formed in 57 separate groupings of concentric spheres around the Earth. He made the following startling conclusion:
The cosmological interpretation of the redshift in the spectra of quasars leads to yet another paradoxical result: namely, that the Earth is the center of the universe
Why do the red shifts of particular types of astronomical objects only take on certain values, suggesting that the objects are on shells concentric around the Earth, implying the location of the Earth is special? No modern cosmology models explains this periodic grouping of galaxy red shifts around discrete values across the span of the universe. This is no minor anomaly.
@annanownow "No modern cosmology models explains this periodic grouping of galaxy red shifts around discrete values across the span of the universe."
@winterstellar WHAT? THE BIOLOGICAL COMPLEXITY OF HUMANS THE EYE THE VESICULAR TRANSPORT SYSTEM THE BLOOD CLOTTING SYSTEM THE DNA REPLICATION SYSTEM NEURAL CONNECTIONS IN THE BRAIN the placenta (non)similarity of apes and humans evidence from mitochrondrial dna evidence from nuclear dna y chromosome evidence humans and neanderthals "There's no clear genetic test. We're going to have to let the fossil people answer this one." -Oxford University population geneticist Rosalind Harding
@annanownow Yeah...tell this to the millions of scientists, the ones with tons and tons of empirical evidence, millions of peer-reviewed papers independently verifying eachother, improving upon eachother, the ones who have hundreds of nobel-prices and other prices, the ones who educate students, ph.d candidates, professors, tell them that you have ancient moronic "holy books" by primitives who tell different, primitive stories...I'm sure they'll be impressed, hahahaaah:)
@winterstellar Trying to prove God's existence is where religious people go wrong. God is purely based off of faith; there is nothing wrong with that, but he can neither be proven nor disproven.
@6Vital6Remains6 Well, as I stated previously, God can neither be proved nor disproved. So, to say that God was invented as fact is just the flip side of saying that God exists as fact. Also, there is nothing wrong with the human idea of a God. The idea of God has helped our people obtain universal morals (from country to country at the least), and has helped them feel important, and that there is a reason to live, or a tranquility in death (or the unknown).
@6Vital6Remains6 When I stated that where religious people go wrong is when they try to prove God as fact, I did not mean that I dislike religion, or the concept of a God. I just dislike fights that have to do with God v.s tangible scientific fact (or theory). And, I also dislike when people push their negative interpretations of the ambiguous, and vague Bible onto others (like saying that being Gay is a hell bound sin, and hating people for it.)
@GMIronDog The original word was חוּג chûg khoog >From Strong's Concordance: H2328; a circle: - circle, circuit, com passive. It does not mean a sphere. Hebrew has at least two words that mean sphere: : כדור (he) (kadúr) m., ספרה (he) (sféra).
Apparently god failed geometry as well as biology.
Without the truth, there can be no real morality, justice, equality, success, freedom, love, security, peace, spirituality or even survival. Search "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says to learn the truth of life.
i was preety interested when he said that many other calladeral branches of the human family became extinct: so is he saying that there were other "types" of human in our evolutionay path?
I think Carl Sagan evolved to be the Brady Bunch dad and then developed the ability to sing (that was probably a eugenic development sometime in the 60's) then evolved into Neil Diamond.Carl an astronomical marvel that twinkled in the man/wizard made sky to lead people into absolute awe for what they hypnotically were viewing. Was this the time pea green and mustard yellow were made popular too? Must have been fun to prank the masses during this time.
@symmetry08 Alas, Sagan was a physicist and not a biologist, so he's expected to make a few factual errors. Plus, some of the flubs were because things were discovered later that made it inaccurate.
From which I get the hint you're against public health/education...
"non-confrontational"
There are many paths to achieving a goal, being non-confrontational isn't the only way, and doesn't always work.
"neurotic like Dawking who does more harm"
Damn, I should have known, Dawkings debating Christians without blowing them up and trying to bring to attention how much of a problem creationism is becoming, how dare he! Confrontational nitwit!
if evolution is right that means there was no first man or woman, thereforr no original sin,no fall of man therefore no need for god to send his son to redeem the world,u cannot be a christian and believe in evolution, same is d case with islam, they regard adam d so called first man also as d first prophet,if evolution is right he never existed disproving d quran and d islamic religion
@GMironDog: The Earth is actually an oblate Spheroid. If you spent time researching rather than spewing your drivel then maybe you'd begin to understand that your entire belief system is based upon a bronze age myth written solely by man. Now go stone a woman you delude moron.
@AndresVanIsland However what Creationists and most religious people are somewhat right on is there is an afterlife, just not in the spiritual sense. When you die the chemicals and bacteria and cells all separate and go some where else, as matter cannot be destroyed it must go somewhere. And through this other life can be helped to grow, or it can be used to create new life. All of what was you is still within the universe, you just don't know it because you're dead.
@AndresVanIsland It's like I say God left pin holes in the sky so we could see heaven at night. and then a scientist going into space and saying we live in a vast solar system, and then me trying to fit my "Pin hole" story in with that. and my followers so desperate for an answer that they MUST believe it because otherwise their lives have been for not, and the fear of death without an afterlife kicks in and the delusion makes themselves "feel" better, it's a crutch and a insecurity complex.
@AndresVanIsland As the church has conformed and rewritten its self over and over after science had discovered some thing in complete contradiction to the Churches main stream belief and have proven it. The Church in its self has evolved to conform to science and try to fit it in with some thing a "god" did many times over and over again to make sure it's followers don't abandon it, otherwise they are out of business and lose control of their power, simply that. You my friend have been duped.
@AndresVanIsland Why don't you still argue for those things the Religious people of this planet KNEW about "god" and the universe? Why wouldn't you? I can tell you. Because you KNOW different, and I'm sure that back then if you KNEW what you KNOW now, you would argue that to the Church, and they would hang you as a heretic wouldn't they, much like how creationists are trying to do the same to scientists now only in the proverbial sense In the future the Church will Conform to this knowledge..
@AndresVanIsland Of course I don't expect you to understand what science really is nor what it's answers mean, I do expect from some one like you to try and confuse what is plain and simple science and make a mockery of it to uphold your own belief system that some omnipresent "god" did it. Explain to me why the church KNEW Earth was the center of the universe, and how the church CONFORMED TO SCIENCE when it was discovered that it was not.
@AndresVanIsland I don't pretend, and which "God" are you referring to? LOL!!! All the ones that have the same background story as The god Jesus that came before him? Or the ones after like Zeus and Apollo? I'm gonna go ahead and say your mind is too simple. Rather than look for answers, you would rather relax and say god did it...Well that's ok, but please do not use things science created to denounce science, it's tacky!
If creationists keep saying the same bullshit over and over again I'm gonna evolve the human race by natural selection with this gun. You Idiot creationists want to see proof of Evolution? How about VIRUSES!!! You keep asking "Where is this Evolution you keep saying exists" Well take a look at the COLD virus, or Swine flu, how it evolved to jump from species, or how it mutates and EVOLVES to become a stronger virus...There are you satisfied you moron creationists!!
@TheJudgeJoker I completely believe in evolution, but you're a moron. Threatening to 'evolve the human race by natural selection with this gun' is possibly the most idiotic thing I've read in this comment section. That's no way for someone advocating science to speak. Science is about bettering the world, not picking fights and threatening to shoot people like a child who just discovered how to insult someone.
@Bttscks "who just discovered how to insult someone"....
yeah 3 MONTHS AGO...MORON! HAA HA HA HA HAAAAA!!
Were you a part of that conversation? No. So type to someone else who gives a shit about your late opinion. Interesting statement. Hydrogen bombs, microwave weapons, laser weapons, rockets, guns, better and more efficient ways of killing..brought to you by science. Sure. Science is about bettering mankind like taking a gun and showing creationists the meaning of natural selection! LOL!
Science is the path... If the Universe happened to be created by a "higher power ", it seems logic that one is not enough, so the ancient Greeks are closer to that.
"The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse." (ROMANS CH1)
"They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served CREATED THINGS rather than the CREATOR—who is forever praised. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. (ROMANS CH1)
@FiberMania you're a wanker, you're perfectly entitled to believe whatever you want to believe, and discuss your beliefs with people in an appropriate setting .. but keep it out of science lectures .. i bet you're also the kind of person who constantly complains that christianity is 'under attack' and wah wah wah, well the only problem anybody ever has with you lot is when you start doing this kind of thing, putting your nose where you no business putting it
@bakayurei What a lovely demonstration of tolerance. Evolution is nothing but junk science promoted by those with their godless agenda to destroy our country. You won't be happy until the enemies of this once great nation have their boot on our collective throats. People better wake up.
@FiberMania i'm not american but i do think it's a great country, and it only got to where it was by throwing out old ideas and embracing new ones.. stop living in the past, evolution's a fact and nobody with the least degree of scientific education still thinks there's a debate.. you're right that people need to wake up, if anything's going to bring your country down it'll be backwards superstitions
@FiberMania You're obviously a fanatic that tries(and fails) to persuade people to having a one sided mind set. You use the bible as a tool of fear and frankly its upsetting. The bible is a book to teach lessons about worship and good character not to use it as a way to guilt or scare people into believing your idea of right and wrong. Also I have to ask why you're even watching a video on a subject that obviously disturbs you. Save it for the people who actually want to listen
@gearfire123 Nobody spoke more of eternal torment in the fires of Hell than our good and gentle Jesus. You cannot embrace the Bible on any level with integrity until you are willing to face this fact. The evolutionary worldview is an insult to the Almighty creator who created us in his image. Those who push this blasphemy will have to face him one day whether they believe it or not. On the other hand, if the Bible is nothing but fairy tales, the evolutionist has nothing to worry about.
@FiberMania I'm not a full blown evolutionist and i still believe that god created us. i just have a different view on how he went about doing it, mainly because some things in the bible are not to be taken literally. But even if my ideas are different to those watching this video, I don't go out of my way to insult their beliefs. Also you can't pick and choose quotes from the bible. Yes jesus spoke of the fires of Hell but he also spoke of loving your neighbors and enemies.
@FiberMania Oh, wow, more Pascal's wager nonsense. You do realize that your stupid religion is only one of millions right? Read something other than fairy tales.
Why do evolution and Christianity have to be opposed? I believe God guided the evolutionary changes this video shows. Also creation didn't literally take just one week by my interpretation.
@HeyJables You ask a good question. The problem is that evolution is a process that requires death, which only entered this world as divine punishment for sin. God created a perfect world where there was no disease or death anywhere in creation. Death cannot pre-date sin. Also, if God can speak the universe into existence, he can certainly do it in any time frame he wishes. He created a fully mature universe the same way he created Adam as a grown man, not an infant. It all makes sense.
@HeyJables this guy's got it spot on.. there's no debate, religious books tell us what happened, 'what god did', and our scientists reveal the mechanisms by which he put his plans into practice.. sticking your fingers in your ears doesn't make observable facts false, and it doesn't make religious claims any 'more true'.. the way things are worrded in religious books, they're poetry, some things are exaggerated to make the imagery more powerful.. we shouldn't confuse poetry with scientific facts
Seconds after the evolutionst takes his last breath he will still face the Lord Jesus Christ for judgement. Your unproven speculations cannot change the reality of the Almighty creator who gave you life and a lifetime of opportunity to turn away from your prideful human foolishness. If I have believed in vain, I have lost absolutely nothing. If the Bible is true the evolutionist will burn in hell forever for rejecting the one that gave us this life.
@FiberMania You're an idiot. That argument you used is called "Pascal's Wager" and it's a common fallacy used by religious people. You're basically saying "You might as well believe in Jesus because you've got nothing to lose", but what about all the other religions? What if you're wrong about Christianity? What if Islam is the right religion? If Islam is the right religion, then you and the atheist are both going to hell.
EVOLUTIONIST: "Now that we have sort of figured out how to explain away the existence of God, we can screw screw screw screw our brains out! Screw till we can't walk! YEA!!"
Same process of evolution by natural selection; but that animation only follows the path leading to Homo sapiens. Eukaryotic (a kind of cell) organisms split into plants, animals, fungi, and other groups we call "kingdoms". There is only one kind of life on Earth: the genetic code is the same for all known organisms.
@ Bendyspoons: As far as I know, there are no exceptions. Elaborate?
@ Warxyph: Technically, in a phylogeny "branch" is not a verb: a node splits into two branches. Non-technically, I think "branch" is really low on the list of words that can be most easily twisted into supporting unscientific claims.
I remember when we had to watch this in class and I was so blown away. Saidly this overly religious woman had to ask, "WHY CANT WE EVER HAVE GOD AND ADAM EVE TAUGHT."
I was so furstrated that after the video she was still in denial. I wanted to scream, "Lady did you watch the video." I kept my composer
I think the term 'creationist' is often short hand for 'young Earth creationist', ie. the peeps who claim the Earth is 6.000 years old. *That* obviously would exclude evolution, were it true.
It could be argued, that the Big Bang, and all it resulted in - incl. evolution - was started by a deity (some "watchmaker"), and this view would not contradict evidence.
Sadly, the most vocal ID's, all seem to be of the 'young Earth' bent, wanting the "controversy" taught in schools
I don't know why evolution and creationism (or intelligent design if you desire) must be mutually exclusive. Evolution is a fact. Any argument to the contrary is simply a refusal to see the truth. Evolution, however, does not explain the creation of the universe, the prime mover for you Aristotelians out there. We don't know where the matter came from, and it's just as easy to argue the existence of God's work as it is to refute it.

Evolution is so obvious and simple to understand yet there are those who struggle so much that they prefer to just put their fingers in their ears and say 'God did it'. It's a shame really. They can't process things and so fall back onto the explanation drilled into them by their parents with no evidence or reasoning.

Not much educational value in his videos, their more meant for entertainment. Notice the calmness of his voice and the background music, and the lame diagrams.
The beauty of Carl Sagan's explanations far out weigh the ugliness of religions. Sometimes its hard to fathom how insignificant we truly are in the vastness of the universe. If only all of our teachers had the same compassion for the subject they teach as Carl Sagan did for science. The world would be a wonderful, wonderful place. Not that is isn't wonderful now in its own right. Nature is where we came from and nature will always be here. You are truly missed Mr. Sagan.
@johneamer It shouldn't be shocking that Sarah Palin is around. What's far more disturbing to me is that folks actually take her seriously and follow her, some going as far as to consider her a viable leader. THAT is amazing to me.
Why this theory stops at humans?? before Darwin Moulana Rumi has described the same theory (about thousand year back) but explained it further like in humans there are also ones (chosen ones) who are more guided and are free from the limit of time and space(Like messengers/ Prophets ). The way Rumi described is not very offensive for the religious as well as for the people who claim to think beyond
@shirazwaheed83 sigh, Humans has only lived for a few thousands of years, evolution does not occur that fast. There are no such things as Gods or Prophets.
@Kamikazeesouled Right! ur first comment u mean humans will transform into other form (u accept) and it will take time? so if there is no time or you fast forward the l then??? on the second part of your comment u need to ask ur parents how they give birth to you?? there is sm one behind ur existance like ur parents, their parents and so on... u cnt deny them.
same way there is sm one behaind the birth of this universe, its simple i think. hope no offence

Just to think that every part of your body is made of material from billions of years ago is astonishing. When people start to understand the much more elegant and significant history of life, the appreciation for time here on earth will be more significant than the hopes of an afterlife.

Each individual and society will benefit from being able to solve more problems and make better decisions. Education is an amazing discovery process that repays you endlessly."

Ironically, I believe that science is in fact slowing our evolution. The better our medical science, the longer we live. The long we live, the slower we evolve.
LynnwoodMadMan 4 months ago
@LynnwoodMadMan Really what's important is the rate of procreation. Though maybe the longer we expect to live the longer we wait to have children, so you may still have a point.
CDCalvert 4 months ago
@LynnwoodMadMan Well, if intelligence is the preferred target direction _we_ want our evolution to take on, then developing a more advanced technological framework within which to grow up and procreate if successful at adapting to the use and further development of said technology is actually strengthening the selective pressure. Of course if the targeted direction is physical strength, agility, natural longevity, denser bones, or other physiological changes then we are indeed hampering it :p
GronTheMighty 3 months ago
@LynnwoodMadMan science and our way of life isnt slowing evolution, its making us evolve to a worse point. dumb people get extra help, some sorts of retardedness can be solved with medicine, bad imun system gets on etc etc.. and the longer we live wont make evolution go slower, the longer we use before we reproduce will ^^,

oaaserud 3 months ago
@LynnwoodMadMan That's not exactly true. Evolution is simply constantly adapting. If people survive things they would previously have died from, they no longer NEED to adapt to that. We will always be evolving to adapt to our situation. There will always be certain traits that lead to a higher rate of survival, and thus we will always be evolving.

Many hypotheses for that. Two of the most commonly mentioned are adaptation to savannas, where it is important to be able to freely shed heat, and adaptation to existence in water-rich areas, where fur might inhibit the ability to move freely through water.

@winterstellar
i agree, but still you don't get it,
Religion it's more about awakening, enlightenment, ancient people found amazing answers looking inward as well outwards themselves.
And this is why, so many people even today, find so many answers in the bible because we haven't evolved enough to find these answers by ourselves.
Atheist make the mistake of using science as final problem solver, science has done so much good, yet so much harm.
WolfEyesatNight 3 months ago
@WolfEyesatNight dont blame science for doing harm, science has nothing to do with harm or good, science is the way we explain everything we see around us, and what happens around us. what WE do with it, is our choice. we are still a dumb race, we prefer fairytales even if it kills people, and we use guns to settle dilemmas. science says fuck off to all of that, and stays objective.
oaaserud 2 months ago
@WolfEyesatNight Well first, most religious people I know are enslaved, not enlightened. Secondly, belief in a deity is not required to seek enlightenment. Buddhism, for example, does not require it. I have a number of friends that are members of various enlightening religions such as that without believing in God at all.
blayzebright 2 months ago
@blayzebright
i agree, when people accept someone else's answers or comments as facts, without personally inquiring into them, are in did enslaved to their ignorance.
be it, religion, political, social, university or ANY other kind of teaching or ideology.
I don't see science as the panacea or answer to solve man's conflicts,
If you identify yourself with Buddhism or any association, nationality, group, the result will
bring more conflicts and misery.
WolfEyesatNight 2 months ago
All conflicts are the supreme failure to meet the needs of individuals, all war all racisim religious conflict is based around pack mentaility squabling of scarce resources. Evolve beyond money and adequeatly and responsibly use technology to meet peoples needs and they will behave quite differently.
I'm certain once that occurs religion but not spirituality will almost totally dissapear.

@Gantzer1
careful, although your observation sounds possible, You have to question,
is scarce resources the reason of conflict, or is it thought?
if it's thought, where does it come from?
does it come from an incomplete self, from our Ego, who is desire, which is pain?
which turns into fear and then violence.
what would you do, to get the woman you want?

He made the following startling conclusion:
The cosmological interpretation of the redshift in the spectra of quasars leads to yet another paradoxical result: namely, that the Earth is the center of the universe

@flatlanderdot I really wish we had not invented him because now we have no way of shooing away the notion of him.
6Vital6Remains6 1 week ago
@6Vital6Remains6 Well, as I stated previously, God can neither be proved nor disproved. So, to say that God was invented as fact is just the flip side of saying that God exists as fact. Also, there is nothing wrong with the human idea of a God. The idea of God has helped our people obtain universal morals (from country to country at the least), and has helped them feel important, and that there is a reason to live, or a tranquility in death (or the unknown).
flatlanderdot 1 week ago
@6Vital6Remains6 When I stated that where religious people go wrong is when they try to prove God as fact, I did not mean that I dislike religion, or the concept of a God. I just dislike fights that have to do with God v.s tangible scientific fact (or theory). And, I also dislike when people push their negative interpretations of the ambiguous, and vague Bible onto others (like saying that being Gay is a hell bound sin, and hating people for it.)

TheJudgeJoker 6 months ago
@AndresVanIsland As the church has conformed and rewritten its self over and over after science had discovered some thing in complete contradiction to the Churches main stream belief and have proven it. The Church in its self has evolved to conform to science and try to fit it in with some thing a "god" did many times over and over again to make sure it's followers don't abandon it, otherwise they are out of business and lose control of their power, simply that. You my friend have been duped.
TheJudgeJoker 6 months ago
@AndresVanIsland Why don't you still argue for those things the Religious people of this planet KNEW about "god" and the universe? Why wouldn't you? I can tell you. Because you KNOW different, and I'm sure that back then if you KNEW what you KNOW now, you would argue that to the Church, and they would hang you as a heretic wouldn't they, much like how creationists are trying to do the same to scientists now only in the proverbial sense In the future the Church will Conform to this knowledge..
TheJudgeJoker 6 months ago
@AndresVanIsland Of course I don't expect you to understand what science really is nor what it's answers mean, I do expect from some one like you to try and confuse what is plain and simple science and make a mockery of it to uphold your own belief system that some omnipresent "god" did it. Explain to me why the church KNEW Earth was the center of the universe, and how the church CONFORMED TO SCIENCE when it was discovered that it was not.
TheJudgeJoker 6 months ago
@AndresVanIsland I don't pretend, and which "God" are you referring to? LOL!!! All the ones that have the same background story as The god Jesus that came before him? Or the ones after like Zeus and Apollo? I'm gonna go ahead and say your mind is too simple. Rather than look for answers, you would rather relax and say god did it...Well that's ok, but please do not use things science created to denounce science, it's tacky!

Save it for the people who actually want to listen
gearfire123 5 months ago
@gearfire123 Nobody spoke more of eternal torment in the fires of Hell than our good and gentle Jesus. You cannot embrace the Bible on any level with integrity until you are willing to face this fact. The evolutionary worldview is an insult to the Almighty creator who created us in his image. Those who push this blasphemy will have to face him one day whether they believe it or not. On the other hand, if the Bible is nothing but fairy tales, the evolutionist has nothing to worry about.
FiberMania 5 months ago
@FiberMania I'm not a full blown evolutionist and i still believe that god created us. i just have a different view on how he went about doing it, mainly because some things in the bible are not to be taken literally. Why do evolution and Christianity have to be opposed? I believe God guided the evolutionary changes this video shows. Also creation didn't literally take just one week by my interpretation.
HeyJables 7 months ago
@HeyJables You ask a good question. The problem is that evolution is a process that requires death, which only entered this world as divine punishment for sin. God created a perfect world where there was no disease or death anywhere in creation. Death cannot pre-date sin. Also, if God can speak the universe into existence, he can certainly do it in any time frame he wishes. He created a fully mature universe the same way he created Adam as a grown man, not an infant. It all makes sense.
FiberMania 7 months ago

Evolution, however, does not explain the creation of the universe, the prime mover for you Aristotelians out there. We don't know where the matter came from, and it's just as easy to argue the existence of God's work as it is to refute it.

I just marked three posts as "not spam". They were arguing for evolution.
Stay classy, children of God.

Brilliant! This was laid out so beautifully some 40 years ago and we STILL have people rejecting it ... amazing(ly sad).

How the hell is evolution still denied by so many today? As an educated human being, that really is quite a depressing thought T_T

@Hayleyfire929 Its because many people are uneducated or choose not to search for the proof because its easier for them. But they are all wrong.

Sagan.

I would really love to know who the 31 Rejects whom clicked dislike are! Well, I may never know, however I will say this, 31 people = FAIL!

If only everyone could see what we see. "God" is absolutely nothing compared to any of the magnificent things this universe has.

@freetrader0000 I'm sure God is delighted to hear that from you.

@bornagain001 6 days, six mass extinctions. Probably not relevant, couldn't help notice connection, though.

The one thing that blows my mind the evolution of what we would think of as an inaminate objects evolved into primitive fish.
I need some mj to help my mind ingest this...

WOW, billions of years and we end up with Barak Obama, amazing.
Cut and paste makes it so easy to make inane comments, doesn't it?

@johneamer The problem is she reproduced and sends the stupid genes back into the pool.
bobdefatt404b 7 months ago
@johneamer Sarah Palin is quite incredible in that she hasn't really evolved much beyond the polyp stage.
captainpanic08 7 months ago
@johneamer thats what happens when theres too much inbreeding

@johneamer It shouldn't be shocking that Sarah Palin is around. What's far more disturbing to me is that folks actually take her seriously and follow her, some going as far as to consider her a viable leader. THAT is amazing to me.
paolung 7 months ago
@johneamer Well, religion did some serious damage to human development, dont expect it to be without serious side affects. LOL
Drago19930713 6 months ago
@johneamer I guess we aren't done evolving?

Why this theory stops at humans?? before Darwin Moulana Rumi has described the same theory (about thousand year back) but explained it further like in humans there are also ones (chosen ones) who are more guided and are free from the limit of time and space(Like messengers/ Prophets ). The way Rumi described is not very offensive for the religious as well as for the people who claim to think beyond
shirazwaheed83 5 months ago
@shirazwaheed83 sigh, Humans has only lived for a few thousands of years, evolution does not occur that fast. There are no such things as Gods or Prophets.
Kamikazeesouled 4 months ago
@Kamikazeesouled Right! ur first comment u mean humans will transform into other form (u accept) and it will take time? so if there is no time or you fast forward the l then??? on the second part of your comment u need to ask ur parents how they give birth to you?? there is sm one behind ur existance like ur parents, their parents and so on... u cnt deny them.
same way there is sm one behaind the birth of this universe, its simple i think. hope no offence
