If Pac-Man wasn't a classic game in the 80's, And was as important as Bubsy 3D, This would of been released, And said to be one of the worst PlayStation games. I think if this game was fixed of bugs, better enviroments , And if Pac Man was re-designed, Thids game would of been alright.
Also, what is that horrible noise that Pacman keeps making? Most of the sound effects seem to have been re-used in Pacman World, but that voice noise isn't used anywhere else. It's rather annoying to tell the truth.
It would appear that the pacman model used for this game was touched up, modified, and re-used in Pacman World 2, as it has similar animations to the pacman model from that particular game.
The story is ok but the gameplay it's a little weird. I think Pac Man World is better but I would love to see a comic or mini series about Pac Man Ghost Zone, it would be nice ^_^
@Econniff Funny story, actually. A Pacman platformer called Pac-Land came out a year before Super Mario Bros. did, so technically all platformers are ripoffs of a Pacman game. (Though there may have been a platformer or another before it...)
@cmurillo100 The kid got blasted with the ray and turned into pacman. They did this so that they could use Pacman's likeness without acquiring the actual Pacman rights, to which Namco of Japan refused to let them use.
@20eric07 I don't know. I guess they thought that a character turning into something resembling the copyrighted character in question made them exempt from having to obtain permission or something.
@BLEAHGames124365 But... you can see "Namco" on the level where he rolls a ball.. Surely this means this was developed/going to be published by Namco?
@20eric07 I guess not Namco of Japan. It's weird, apparently Namco of Japan has the rights to Pacman, not Namco of America. This created some sort of problem where JP wouldn't give NA permission and they decided to use their own story or something.
Wow, Your Good! To see lots of flaws in a game that was only about 10%! I guess seeing the lead designer was the same guy that brought you Abes Oddysee, Maximo Ghost to Glory, Daxter for PSP and many more hits, you might be right ;-) hehe
@EnglishTurtle:Well Think about it,This is an Unfinished Game,So Expect to see alot of Glitches and stuff into the game that makes it look bad,But Ah Well,Maybe it would have been poorly recieved..but We'll never know now...
I probably would have just been a Mario 64 ripoff...but it would've been a pretty damn good one. And in the end, aren't all platformers nothing more than ripoffs of one Mario game or another?
@Econniff To tell the truth, this looks like it was based off the Bubsy 3D engine, but modified. Either that, or Bubsy 3D used Pacman Ghost Zone's engine.
It was modelled after Mario 64 and controlled more like the first Tomb Raider. The main reason it was cancelled is because it just didn't feel like Pac-Man. Namco made the right decision in re-designing Pac-Man World, but Ghost Zone had a lot of potential.
And did the kid become Pacman or get kidnaped?

just cause every other platformer came after super mario 64 doesnt mean its a ripoff of it!

This game would've been poorly recieved :/
Just by looking at it, I can see quite a few flaws, in terms of level design and it's overly generic platforming.

Who's doing the voice over at the beginning?
Or did thay already have that made?
blackmagestaff 2 years ago
The voices were assumed to be supplied by the development team. The designer remembers providing the voice for the Ghost Lord.

if it was a non-pacman game, it would actually look/play good for it's time, sure...
...but as a pacman game? Not really

This game almost looked complete and has a intro in the storyboard process.
Indeed they have to add some more music and perfect the controls but had they given it some more time, this game would have seen the light of day
Still this game looks awesome and I would like to play this one some day
