When I was on the Saipan I would hear these jets land and take off out at sea. The Harrier is not the biggest jet, not the fastest, doesn't carry the biggest payload but it is one of the loudest jets I heard when I was in the Navy. The only jet that is maybe a little bit louder than the Harrier is the EA-6B Prowler.
