Got all of them on VHS back in the day (which also wasn't easy to do) but can't find Megalon on DVD anywhere. Once again advanced technology can't keep up with prehistoric monsters.

Just found a Remaster off the web, and it looks as great as when I saw it in the theater. Plus, I looked up on IMDB: Nakajima-sensei's successor, Satsuma-sensei WAS in this film, as GAIGAN. (only wish he was wearing the Goji-suit, though.) Now, if we can get Sony to take back the American rights from Anchor Bay, we can finally get a TRUE Version here. American film critics despise "Hands-On" SPFX, not caring that this craftsmanship lasts-and dates better-than most digital effects. Case in point: We still love TOHO Films AND Ray Harryhausen Films some 50+ years after the fact. Lets see 'Cloverfield' last that long. GODZILLLA (and GAMERA) 4Eva!!!!

WHY?! Like I said, its the craftsmanship involved. The Suit Actors ARE Actors giving a performance. And the Stop-Motion also has the creator's 'imprint' within. Yes, The BEAST From 20,000 FATHOMS had soul. Until CGI has soul, give me Kaiju and Suitamation.

This is also one of the reasons I love the UNDERWORLD Series (besides Kate B. in that tightass leather ^_^), because they still do Suitamation--and WIREWORKS. Practical SPFX, where your MONSTER is in the same scene with YOU!! And yes, the BEST Suit Actors become legendary (Harou Nakajima-GODZILLA Classic, Kevin Peter Hall-ALIEN + PREDATOR-original, and the guy who does MICHEAL MEYERS, JASON and JEEPERS CREEPERS!!). Give it up for these heroes, ya'll!

Totally right man, and you know, anyone I speak to says the same about CGI. You need it in something like Transformers I guess, but did you see the new Indiana Jones movie at all?

That movie used tons of horrid CGI that made the picture worse.

Its my belief like you that CGI should be a last resort- as much as possible should be guys in suits or models.

animatronics and the like works, too. CGI should be used for things like the legs on "alien" but most of the scenes in that movie were suited. CG is fine used in small doses, but hell, even predator had some shit going on, you know?

I actually think guys in suits or animatronics- say if it was a monster or alien- are faaaar more scary than any CGI I have ever seen. CGI is never scary to me, mainly because right away I just think 'that wasn't really there'.
