PANDAS? what's with the pandas? I love this video! It's and endless series of contradictions. Pretty good rendition of the song to boot, but check out Grace Slick's version for a much more inventive cover musically.
Question Mark and the Mysterians... Ellos y la Revolución de Emiliano Zapata sencillamente los mejores grupos de rock en la historia de México. Destacaron mundialmente en tiempos en que la música mexicana no rifaba nada...
A sensational video. Minimalism meets surrealism. The dusters, the sparklers, the crotch shot - all crazy, One of the great left field groups of all time plays one of the great left field hits of all time. THANKS!!
This is out there, that's why it's cool. If I watch a video on MTV or anywhere else I forget it as soon as it's over. I won't forget this. I encourage more of this. Thank you, Charlie
QM&TM get a solid 10 on this. The Jaynetts got a 10 when they made theirs. Others have tried and failed to connect. QM&TM are the greatest...I think they are one of the best all time groups, very talanted indeed. Timing is perfect. I still recall the song vividly as I was shipping out across the pond.
My Brother noticed that Paul Stanley of KISS bares not only a striking resemblance to ? but also the same mannerisms, tastes in stage clothes and the way they dance.
Hmmmm, Paul is the Star Child and ? is from Mars.....this is getting scary. LOL!
I Love ? and the Mysterians. It's cool the the band has stuck together all these years.
In the long night's finale, Question Mark of Question Mark and the Mysterians, bounded onstage in a frilly-sleeved cropped top fit for a Las Vegas showgirl, along with his cowboy hat and shades. Defying age, he was in constant motion around the stage, singing about lust and hormonal overload over the band's merrily pumping organ riffs--as frenetic and well-preserved as a record collector's most prized vinyl artifacts.
CAMP CLASSIC! This is hilarious, and it is addictive. I do agree with the poster who said that Tim Buckley does a completely different version that is wonderful. However, this is fun. I would love to see them live!
For a gig...contact "DEXTER'S" R&R venue on RT#23 in Riverdale, NJ. only twenty miles due west of NYC. I wanna see ? & The Mysterians work their show LIVE!
Kudos to Terrence Murphy and Director Daniel Rose! This production breathes new life into the ever inscrutable ethereal Jaynettes classic "Sally Go Round The Roses" And God bless my boys~ ? & The Mysterians~ you cats still cook!
Haven't heard this song in years...even forgot it. I'd think that Sally was a lesbian based on my initial reaction. After all these years at least. Did lesbians exist in the 1960's? Interesting song...
I used to love the haunting sound of this song. Could someone tell me what it means? I'm not blonde, just not sure, would like to hear from someone who does know.
Great cover. Q, you are hot. The roses could mean where she'll find her guy making out with another girl (behind the bushes) or where she can hide herself and cry after she finds out. "Sit and cry where the roses grow, sit and cry so the folks won't know."
This was a great song by the Jaynetts (or Jaynettes, depending on which site you go to). It is one of the few times that a rock song was sung by an R&B girl group. I remember it was a hit, but I didn't think it made it into the top ten. Was is #2 on the pop or R&B chart?
Actually it was the summer of 1963 (the year I was born) that it went to #2 for the Jaynettes. It's one of the most mysterious songs ever written and performed -- no one is quite sure of what the significance of the 'roses' were and Sally's secrets. The only reason why I remember it as 1963, is because it's played a lot in movies that are about or a have stories associated w/ JFK's assassination (even "The Waltons" TV movie set during that time period used this tune).
Sounds so good. The singer is deliberately singing this song like a girl for effect... and it works.... like an Iggy Pop performance. I always loved the Jaynettes version, but always felt the production values on their hit weren't so swell... Nice to hear it really thumped out here... Dig the bass!
This just gets stuck in your head. Love ya Rudy
