Every little thing in the games by Team Silent reflected the main character's psyche in a nuanced fashion, though this is looking to be very ham-fisted approach on story telling. @fade2dark residential evil is an action horror game while Silent hill is about suspense horror and that's why theres hardly any action. Personally I think Silent hill is the better out of the two and resident evil is good, but I don't like the action horror type games where the only scares you get are when something jumps out at you. silent Hills have actually got better reviews then resident evil because of how dark and twisted the story lines are. The second one, I remember renting, Running around in a town looking for something to kill.. so fucking boring. I played the first Silent Hill when I was 12, That game didnt scare me for shit. If the game couldnt scare a 12 year old, then the game, as a horror game, was the failure. At least I was entertained by RE5.

Even though there were games that existed before such as "sweet home" and "alone in the dark" It was Resident Evil that gave it the definition "survival horror." The first game I found to be scary, personally, was Splatter House. '92-'93? somewhere in there.

I love Silent Hill Series! I've been a fan since the first game and I can't wait to play this one as well, it simply looks amazing! One thing though, why is Korn in the trailer? Didn't expect that. And most certainly didn't liked it, so I hope they'll be only in the trailer and not in the actual game. Cheers!

This new Silent Hill game looks very intense and also filled with newer and scarier monsters, how could you judge such a trailer with a bad view? The monsters look gruesome and horrifying, awesome graphics, and epic protagonist! Homecoming was shitty and not even scary, what like 4 or 3 monsters were in the game the entire time? I can't wait for the bosses in Downpour.

Silent hill fans suck, if it's not Silent Hill 2 then it's crap, SH 3 not amazing, but creepy and interesting, SH4 good concept bogged by escort mission (bleah), SH Homecoming, would have been great if the concept had been intact (soldier/war crimes/ watch Jacob's ladder) and not turned into hostle at the end. I'm kinda excited for this game. I can't really wait, I'll probaly buy it the same day it comes out. Even though the Silent Hill releases since SH4 (Origins, Homecoming and Shattered Memories) haven't been so good and contradict the info given in the original games made by Team Silent, I still think they can bring out something very good. Maybe not as good as the first three, but something that goes with what Silent Hill is.
And about this song. It is really good. But does not fit SH.

@megaten666 korn isn't doing the entire soundtrack, only this song to 'bring in the new audience' said konami, Vatra didn't really agree with it ether by went along. Daniel licht is doing the soundtrack and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn too. If you have doubts listen to the intro theme, which is up now. I'm pretty sure you will think different wise. Plus I did like akira, but he got abit rusty on the last scores he did. So its time for new blood and Daniel doesn't seem like he will let us down. ;)

I think Downpour is going to be better than Homecoming, no doubt in that, but... this song... I always felt something from SH opening songs, maybe because it was always Yamaoka, but now that he left, I'm afraid of the BGM quality. Every Silent Hill game ever made was far from perfect. Somehow us fans managed to love the games anyway. At a certain point you have to decide whether you want to continue to live in the past with rose tinted glasses or learn how to enjoy these games for what they are and not what you think they should be.
I haven't played this game yet, but I can tell you from what I've seen so far, it looks like a cheesy American horror film. I knew Silent Hill 4 was awesome just from the game trailers, it was super eerie. I know most people didn't like 4, but 1 and 3 had a very eerie authentic feel to it as well. They did not feel like a cheesy B movie like this.
@Simpleman925 There is a massive difference between a game created by an asian team being somewhat influenced by American horror,versus an non-asian team being mostly influences by American horror.A good example of this is the difference between Metal Gear Soild versus Splinter Cell. Both influence by American military ideas, but Metal gear had a very clear style, while Splinter Cell looked and played generic. SH Downpour is clearly Generic American B movie quality,not the good quality is was.

One last thing; I wonder, will this game connect to previous ones? Other than a cult, that is. I mean, SH 4 had dropped a not-so-hint of a hint that the superintendent's son was James Sunderland. SH2 also had pieces of Walter Sullivan's history and Joseph lying about. SH3 is obviously a direct sequal to the first one. I can't say much about Homecoming, I've never actually gotten far. It'd be cool if it was completely new and original, but at the same time I would feel a slight loss.

Pyramid Head is supposed to strictly be a Silent Hill 2 monster that represents James' punishment and guilt. There was the Butcher, Valtiel, Asphyxia, God, ghosts, etc to represent similar things or just as important roles throughout Silent Hill for the different characters. It wouldn't make sense if Pyramid Head was in this game. Every SH needs at least mostly-original monsters. It seems the Barbie monster took the Nurse's place, which she actually looks very cool.
For this particular game and what it looks like the protagonist's history is, I think they did a good job with choosing the song. I dont like Korn at all, but I'm not going to complain and hey, I like a handful of their songs.
I never quite got why people consider Korn Nu Metal. You really can hardly draw any lines from Korn to musical gang-rapists like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park. They don't sound anything alike. But also, have you PLAYED this game? Do you KNOW what it's all about? Because if you don't then you have absolutely no room judge this game as it is in development. I'm kinda excited for this game. I can't really wait, I'll probaly buy it the same day it comes out. Even though the Silent Hill releases since SH4 (Origins, Homecoming and Shattered Memories) haven't been so good and contradict the info given in the original games made by Team Silent, I still think they can bring out something very good. Maybe not as good as the first three, but something that goes with what Silent Hill is.
And about this song. It is really good. But does not fit SH.

@megaten666 korn isn't doing the entire soundtrack, only this song to 'bring in the new audience' said konami, Vatra didn't really agree with it ether by went along. Daniel licht is doing the soundtrack and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn too. If you have doubts listen to the intro theme, which is up now. I'm pretty sure you will think different wise. Plus I did like akira, but he got abit rusty on the last scores he did. So its time for new blood and Daniel doesn't seem like he will let us down. ;)

I think Downpour is going to be better than Homecoming, no doubt in that, but... this song... I always felt something from SH opening songs, maybe because it was always Yamaoka, but now that he left, I'm afraid of the BGM quality. And all I can say, as far as this opening goes, it doesn't convinced me. I wanted something more melodic, like always. This is metal. And it doesn't fit. *sigh* Hope the rest will be okay.

And FYI, the developers responsible for this steaming heap are the one-and-only "Vatra". Name ring any bells? ...No? Probably because they've only developed one game - a fucking X-box Live Arcade title. That's it. That's their entire fucking resume going into this.
No one from Team Silent, not even Akira Yamaoka who even stuck around for Homecoming (God bless his little asian soul) is involved with this. So lower your expectations by about 2000% percent and save yourself the grief.

I'm not saying people should go into this expecting Silent Hill 2, which'll never happen again, but I'm willing to be surprised. Like you, though, I do miss the SH 1-4 era; wonderful time in gaming.

At a certain point you have to decide whether you want to continue to live in the past with rose tinted glasses or learn how to enjoy these games for what they are and not what you think they should be.

I haven't played this game yet, but I can tell you from what I've seen so far, it looks like a cheesy American horror film. I knew Silent Hill 4 was awesome just from the game trailers, it was super eerie. I know most people didn't like 4, but 1 and 3 had a very eerie authentic feel to it as well. They did not feel like a cheesy B movie like this.

@Simpleman925 There is a massive difference between a game created by an asian team being somewhat influenced by American horror,versus an non-asian team being mostly influences by American horror.A good example of this is the difference between Metal Gear Soild versus Splinter Cell. Both influence by American military ideas, but Metal gear had a very clear style, while Splinter Cell looked and played generic. SH Downpour is clearly Generic American B movie quality,not the good quality is was.

One last thing; I wonder, will this game connect to previous ones? Other than a cult, that is. I mean, SH 4 had dropped a not-so-hint of a hint that the superintendent's son was James Sunderland. SH2 also had pieces of Walter Sullivan's history and Joseph lying about. SH3 is obviously a direct sequal to the first one. I can't say much about Homecoming, I've never actually gotten far. It'd be cool if it was completely new and original, but at the same time I would feel a slight loss.

Pyramid Head is supposed to strictly be a Silent Hill 2 monster that represents James' punishment and guilt. There was the Butcher, Valtiel, Asphyxia, God, ghosts, etc to represent similar things or just as important roles throughout Silent Hill for the different characters. It wouldn't make sense if Pyramid Head was in this game. Every SH needs at least mostly-original monsters. It seems the Barbie monster took the Nurse's place, which she actually looks very cool.
