I love your rig... I have a questions tho, how well are the Diff sealed on these trucks? I have a 91 full size Jimmy and I haven't taken thru anything that deep, tho I'd love to!
Yeah i drive a 1988 k5 blazer 350 v8 8inch lift with 38's the only problem i have ever had with it was one time i dove into a mudhole like that and got the alternator wet it wasnt good lol
cool vid, it was like a monster comming out of a lagoon, especially with the steem.
my dad has an 85 military spec blazer with 1 ton axels, t4 tranny, 468 built big block, 3 inch 1 chamber exhaust, 16 inch lift, and 38 inch tiers (soon to be 40s). to top it all off its still got the camo paint on it :D
hes had that truck since before I was born, its like a brother to me. He even let me tighten down the heads when I was 8 and we were building the motor.
@erikeverett my buddy andrew has a 1976 dodge w200 military truck. has a dana 60 in rear and 44 up front. fulltime 4 wheel drive and front and rear lock. that thing is bad fucking ass. lol
hey man im fixin to buy a k5 myself 350 big block 4 barrel carb. can you let me in on the strong points and week points on the k5s,. im buying for 8oo bucks, 74,ooo origanil miles , needs a paint job though ,but it has a 2 inch lift wit 33 12.50s... by the way i love palm dale , just moved from ft myers about about a year ago.. miss it already... thanks man good video...
Stock axles are somewhat weak, but should handle 33's with the right gearing. The frame around the steering box has been known to crack on 73-87's. They sell fix it kits though. np208 transfer case is aluminum and chain driven, not the best but ok. Also the 700r4 has weak points. Btw: a 350 is not a big block. lol

Thanks drew4141. WickedSickMetal pretty much summed it up, and I would add that everything should be fine stock, if you don't pound it too hard, but I would get an EZ Locker on the rear (They're pretty cheap). I did that on my 1980 GMC hunting truck and went twice as many places thereafter. An amazing difference with a locker. Good luck.
I have an '86 that I just started to work on,got a 2/4 lift kit; 36" TSL's; Warn 8000; rblt sm 400; just finished undercoating and sealing the whole truck and the lift and running gear is next
LOL I hear you about the finances and the economy. I hope you get her on the trail soon. I'd help you if I was near. BTW, I know you don't hunt... I was joking when I asked.
Ok now I feel retarded anyway I'm still working on my Blazer but the economy has pretty much put any progress on hold. I'll post a vid probably sometime this summer. I just use my Blazer for wheelin', I don't hunt. I had a '75 Blazer (where all the parts for my '86 came from) that I'd had for 12 years and beat the thing like it owed me money. It still ran great when I parted it out, I just decided it's time had come, ya know?
I don't even have an electric fan!!! yikes! If you hit the soup hard, you'll put the fan into the radiator, but that's why i started out slow cause it does have a fluid clutch on it.
Then I have tons of video that you would be laughing at. Cause if you ain't gettin stuck sometimes, then you ain't havin enough fun, or you're a wuss.
10" Skyjacker, 3" body, 39.5 Boggers, D-60 frnt, 14 bolt rear, 5:13 gears, LockRite up frnt, and Detroit out back, 1350 Tom Woods, NP 208 (stock), stock tranny, custom ladders out back, and a souped up 350, headers, and diffuser disc tail pipes, and a few other doodads.
That would be fun =0) im only running a 6 inch lift with cut fenders 39.5 grooved tsl Dana 44 big hub and 14 ff with 5.13 np208 th350 and edlebrock torker set up and some headers. I dont know man that would be a close race, but i think you just might get me with the boggers man. Plus your truck kicks ass man lol.
It's like a scene from "The Road Warrior"...With the circling band of outlaw bikers and off road vehicles...all that's missing is that guy with the pink mohawk and assless leather chaps!
