I'm living proof!!

    This made me laugh! :D

TAO AMERICANO. Visitem PORTUGAL

  • I can tell you guys are Portuguese haha, you speak well!!

  • I can tell you guys are Portuguese haha, you speak well!!

Atom? kkkk E' ENTAO minha gente :P

  • @Lavourah This sketch was an exaggeration. Unfortunately there are cases where sons/daughters of Portuguese immigrants actually have to go through similar situations. This sketch does not apply to ALL Portuguese immigrant families just like your experience does not apply to the experiences of all other Portuguese families. If you take away some of the comedy this sketch actually alludes to a serious problem in domestic issues facing a lot of immigrants not just Portuguese.

  • i really enjoyed that

  • Portuguese people have really nice smiles and eyes....girl on left is SWANGIN lol

  • hahah had to share this!! sooo true!!!! ive seen this so many times in real life!!! vais levar com a colher de pau, olha ai a chinela, vais levar!! hahaha

  • "I can't be deported I was born here" "that's what you think" lol I think this is sooooo funny. me want to learn the language

  • oh santo Van Helsing... o vosso sotaque é horrível, apetece-me degolar uma garganta.

  • @Lavourah It's a dramatization -- you know like those attorney commercials. And if you take away some of the exaggeration some Portuguese immigrant families are like this -- Especially the gender roles which are portrayed.

  • Vadia do caracas!! love this <3

  • Sem piada

  • @bkdesencontros You're "sem piada" people need to learn to take a joke.

  • "Okay, I'm the father, marlene's the mother, and this is our daughter (...) Alright, pera aí..."

    You're doing it alright!

    -

    Estão a ir bem!

  • Fabuloso xDD

  • ....aI ai ai ai...

  • Very funny! Greetings from Lisboa!

  • eu gosto

  • Awesome! It's a tiddy bit exaggerated, but you got the general personality of portuguese from the 70's right lol. It's good to know that you guys didn't forget about our language and culture. Greetings from Leiria,Portugal.

  • @sgarcia0714 You're the retard you stupid bitch! The people in this video are NOT from the north. They are American born -- children of immigrants. This video was made as a joke -- not to be taken seriously! Stop being such a little dick!

Some people are so ignorant!

Some people are so uptight!

  • @Traficantes I really don't know what he said but it has something to do with "first learn Portuguese" and calling you retarded.

  • 'Tô aqui à espera do comer! Do comer? DO COMER! Vadia do caracas! Looooooooooooooooollll ;-)

  • de mais! adorei ahah xD

  • de mais! adorei ahah xD

  • Why do Portuguese look like Arabs?

  • see the history

  • @Microglia1 Because Portugal was invaded by various peoples caused mixtures to happen. This is why people from the north tend to be lighter skinned, blue eyes, blonde hair because of the Celtic influence and darker in the south because of the arabic invasion and people from Morocco who came over. This is disappearing now as there is movement within the county but the traits are still there. There are books written on it if you're generally curious or want to know

  • Comment removed

  • @Microglia1 wtf?arabs?do they look arabs?you must be blind or something.

  • @Microglia1 I am Portuguese, and I guarantee you that not all Portuguese people look Arabs . For example my father is blonde with green eyes (and he´s portuguese).

  • danny leitao?

  • q tones-.- so dizem eh merda. Portugues people rulessssss

  • @rugrad2010 I AM BETTER THAN YOU AN I AM ****GREATER**** THAN YOU IN EVERY WAY, SHAPE AND FORM!!!! YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A LITTLE SPIC, A LITTLE PUNK PIECE OF SHIT PORTUGUESE EMIGRANT! I AM OF THE HIGHEST AND MOST SOPHISTICATED AND PRESTIGIOUS EUROPEAN *ELITES*! BESIDE ME YOU ARE LIKE 1.80M DOWN BELOW, DOWN BELOW IN THE SHIT!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @SuperiorLisboa Oh boy. There is SERIOUSLY something wrong with you! Why do you harbor so much hate and resentment toward Portuguese immigrants? From now on you should only write in Portuguese because your English is atrocious. You can't even form a complete sentence without a grammatical error. And since you're such an elite Portuguese citizen -- wouldn't it make sense for you to only write in Portuguese. Unless you want to be a Portuguese immigrant in America -- Ding ding -- I think I won.

  • @rugrad2010

No, he's not! He's definitely NOT an elite person from whatever country! If he were, he wouldn't come here and write such ridicularities!

  • i loved this

  • LOLOL! I think it's funny. They're speakin like Portuguese hillbillies from the North of Portugal.

  • @CrisFerry So this is the way the hillbillies speak? That's why they sound uneducated.

  • Está brutal mesmo! os meus parabéns

  • What region of portugal did your family come from? Did they come from the rural or peasant areas or is your family from the Sintra or Cascais/Estoril areas. The natives there act very differently than what is being depicted here. I'm not Portuguese but I've spent time in those regions. The people there did not act like that.

Have you ever visited the more affluent areas of Portugal and had real conversations with the educated members of Portuguese society?

  • @dzxyz The video is called Portuguese Immigrants because that is what it is depicting. However Portuguese people living there still act the same. Everyone in the video was born and raised in a Portuguese household within a portuguese community and visit Portugal (various parts of the country) very often.

  • Comment removed

  • @dzxyz Maybe since you are not Portuguese you do not pick up on little sayings and stuff the video is getting across. It has noting to do with being educated, it is completely cultural. And we are in no way making fun of it, just embracing it.

  • @misssa727 Have you ever been to Cascais, Estoril or Mafra? I'm just curious to know where your family is from. I'm guessing they did not come from the cities. They are not members of Portuguese high society.

  • @dzxyz Like I said it has nothing to do with being educated. This is based on culture. If you want to speak about education, pick up a book and read a bit about the culture within the common people of the country, because it is unfortunately not constructed of only 'high society'. And my family is from Coimbra. And it has nothing to do with Hillbillies, I know people with masters degrees and people who didnt make it out of junior high who act the same way.

  • @misssa727 You're obviously just a hillbilly. No wonder Lisbon considers the rest of the country to be ignorant hicks.

  • @dzxyz Do you know anything about Coimbra?!? for someone "educated" you should know about the "student city", home of one of the best universities in Europe.. So before you decide to discriminate people you know nothing about, read a book or two!!

  • @dzxyz And Lisbon considers the rest of the country to be ignorant hicks because its full of ignorant snobs like you who need to gain some culture before they judge.

  • @dzxyz , Why don't YOU ask an educated question before you go off and criticize something you have no knowledge about. You said it youself "I'm not Portuguese but I've spent time in those regions"-> this means you don't know a thing about the culture or the language besides what you see in museums and read in pamphlets. As a matter of fact everyone in this video is "educated" they're all college students at a very good university in the USA, and children of immigrants.

  • @dzxyz ... This video is about the immigrants that came to the US during the 90s- present day. Most people of this generation were brought up during the Salazar-ian dictatorship and all the comments made depict the way in which those people were raised.. The woman has to cook for the man every night, etc. So before you go off calling people hillbillies etc, look at yourself because you are the uneducated, uninformed one!

  • 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s-present*

  • eu estou a espera do comer XDDD frase mitica portuguesa com certeza XDD

  • Lol!

  • Lol! AMEI! mm engraçado! XD

  • funny.... and so culturally appropriate. But, the next one you do, don't forget the "portinglês." like: Agora com esta crise, não pudemos draivar o carro...

  • haha my parents are the same, i was born in seattle, WA but my parents were born in portugal, portimao :) i love portugal and im proud to be portuguese, and i speak fluent portuguese because thats whats we speak at home!!! amo portugal, tenho saudades das ferias de verao em portimao, seattle e tao chuvoso e frio.

  • Thanks for the funny video. I think the acting could have been better but you had me laughing about the wooden spoon and the birthing of babies in the fields. Oh man! Those are two stories I heard of in my upbringing. My great-grandmother had 16 kids, and after giving birth went back to the fields to pick crops. It's hard to imagine. I thought my dad was kidding, but I found out it was true. Thanks for being a good sport about it by keeping it light-hearted.

  • someone must say to azorean people to stop with imigration..they are fuckin' our reputation! These poor fellows speaking portuguese with azorean accent makes me feel sad.Come to Lisbon and learn how to speak portuguese properly.

  • @gonzo2399 It's a joke. We can speak Portuguese "properly", but then this video wouldn't be funny, which was the whole point of making it. Understand? We aren't Azorean and most of our parents are from central Portugal.

  • @gonzo2399 NO ONE IS AÇOREAN!!! have you heard what an açorean even sounds like? and what does your comment even mean? that acoreans immigrate and are making you look ( the portuguese?) look bad? do you know anything about being portuguese? so many people emigrate to the US, its how portugal received incoming money during the dictatorship, so its not only acoreans. know what you're talking about before you speak!

  • @gonzo2399 looool pa eles nao são açoreanos!!! eles têm sotaque do porto!!!

  • I guess that, due their portuguese accent, they're from Azoren and Alentejan descent, but they were born in the U.S.A., almost sure, because they speak portuguese words but think like american while doing expressions like "I'll go back to Portugal" and he says "Vou para trás, para Portugal" instead of "Volto para Portugal" (I'll return to Portugal). In fact english is a little strange... Has not many words so english speakers just use very strange expressions.

    Abraço desde Alentejo, Portugal
