This is a true story. He was friends with man that it was written about. A lot of his songs are about people in his life. The funniest story about this song is when he wrote it, he started playing it at live shows and telling the story about his friend. Someone liked it so much that they hunted down the guy and played a bootleg copy to him before Edwin got to play it to him. BTW- He is not related to senator McCain.

Hey again. Yeah i actually knew that. :) A woman who knew Alan´s (Al´s) neighbor told me the story. I think it´s amazing that he writes songs about such things. And i also knew he´s not related to the senator but thanks for telling anyway :)
