  • Them things scar me lol but they are cute in a way.

  • awww, what a cute guy :)

  • I love opossums. They're like a mix between a ferret and a mouse. My dad once found a dead possum female that had some surviving young. We tried to take them in and care for them, but they just wouldnt eat what we gave them.(We tried milk and some diced veggies.)

It's sad that they passed away. Sometimes I wonder if the youngsters would have survived if we left them in the wild. They were still babies, but they were rather aggressive.

  • @OverlordSpectre

Yeah, that is a tough one, if you ever have another chance, dont do the milk, try crushing hard cat food and mix it in water and feed through an eye dropper first. if a local re-hab center is not near. Sad story but at least you tried. thanks.

  • holy smokes what a little piglet!

  • Awhh that thing is soo cute but o-o THOSE NAILS. I suggest painting them so they arn't such a weird nasty yellowy colour. BUT OH MY GOD IT ATE A STRAWBERRY I WANT TO CUDDLE IT.

  • dont smak its rud LOL

  • Somewhat annoying the way you call opossums "misunderstood animals" (I think they're adorable, don't get me wrong) but then you refer to snakes as "pests".

  • Am I the only 1 who saw the owners freaky ass finger nails lol?

  • @justinmm1988

You should see the freaky ass owner.

  • @cudaviper haha, well its a cute video...just the nails caught me by surprise...hell for 5yrs I dressed in black, painted nails black, dog collar, spiked boots...we all freaky in a way, so in no way was I dissing you :)

  • @justinmm1988

No problem, (dog collar) ok, being different is what makes this short life worth while. How boring it all would be if we were so similar. I am use to the nail thing, it is just amazing who actually says anything to me about them, top of the list, black women, bottom list, white men. and the guys always say something like, do you play guitar, and then drop it when i say no......ha...regards.

  • @justinmm1988 1 Question are you a Furry

  • geez...chew with your mouth closed :P

  • Total Cutie! =3 They absolutely love Persimmons(or however you spell that). I should know my mom and I had 2 of them when I was younger. Kimberly - my opossum - actually once stole a banana from my step-dad when he was walking by her with it.

  • ya that´s exactly the way i eat a strawberry and no one say to me: "aww how cute *_*" !!! -.-

  • @Criseman100 LOL ha ha

  • omg cruelty to fruit downvoted

  • are Possum's the ones people keep on saying they got tails like rats but bigger? o_O

  • its like an ugly cat. So ugly its cute. A misunderstood animal indeed.

  • Well, actually they can carry rabies, but only rarely. They do commonly carry many other diseases and parasites like most mesopredators however.

  • @survivalofone You are correct, any mammal can get rabies, and doing a bit more checking, it seems the numbers are between 800 to 900 to 1. I seriously doubt anyone is going to see 800 possums in their lifetime but I guess you never know. I've seen probably 80 in 20 years. And I will be correcting my speaking in general concept.

  • It does not look like it enjoys being pet..

  • @7777dmith7777

I just ask "it" and she said that she did enjoy being a pet in a long southern drawn out voice. And I quote, "Why yes indeed I do enjoy being a pet, yall".

  • @7777dmith7777

She look's pretty darn happy and cozy to me.

  • Aaaaawwww it's so cute :D

  • RIP strawberry

  • @Toyota4Life

haven't heard that before, good one.

  • wheres the possum eating strawberry?

  • mmmmmmm vitamin strawberry...

  • XD ahhahahahhahaha i love the way he eats it XD so funny

  • i lov her lil pink nose hehee

  • I love possums! Thanks for posting. I call them nature's undertakers; because they clean up carrion, like vultures, they have an important role in nature. I had a possum friend who slept on a chair on my backporch for awhile and ate grapes and chicken legs from my hands.

  • @thegreencat13

that is so cool, i am sure you exercise caution when dealing with a wild one. if you are calm, they are calm. thanks for writing, best regards.

  • @cudaviper Yes, we took weeks getting to know each other; he let me put the food a little closer at a time and then finally took a grape from my fingers, very delicately.

  • @thegreencat13 that is soo sweet i give you props...!!

  • Thanx to the Greate Interamerican Exchange, Possums and Armadillos live in Northamerica.

  • crushed that strawbberry

  • Also it is evident that you love your possum. She feels very secure and is adorable to say the least!

  • @NenadBach

Thank you, yours is beautiful, that full white face is just great, thanks for the comments and best regards. ps, take lots of photos and videos, these encounters are unique and rare but worth the effort.

  • My experience was that it is one of the most kind creature. I simply loved Shmooky the opossum. Here is how he eats apples. I found him when he was few weeks old, abandoned.

Check the YouTube title: Shmooky the opossum eats apples

  • are they domestic i dont hink so cuz i had a baby one and the vet told me it was iligal to have it :/

  • "Perhaps the most misunderstood creature, very gentle and docile by nature."

Is your name Hagrid per chance?

  • sooooooo cute!!

  • SO CUUUTE, i love how he/she checks it out before shoving it in its mouth!

  • This is so great! Made my day.

  • Hmmmm it looks like a really tasty starwberry eh :D ?

  • @AdrianoSnorts

yes, that is for sure, and loves grapes as well.

  • omg i want a possum now and wen my dogs eat they sound just like it

  • This possum looks like he/she has a very sweet nature. Very cute!

  • @queensflight2

very gentle indeed. when she yawns it does open your eyes..ha. huge opening and the most teeth of any mammal. 50 i believe.

  • Oh my gosh I just love possums I had to rehab many of them and at one time had 11 babies in my house. They are so sweet.

  • @robinflea

do you have any vids or pixs, would love to see them. 11 is just about a max load. wow that is a lot.

  • aaaaawwwwwgggggkkkkk = CUUUUTTTEEEEE !!!!!

    wattan adorable creature !!!!!

  • @XXplaythegamesXX

    thanks

  • cute...is this little cutee dependant on you for food? what does it normally eat?

  • i want one their so cute and fluffy.

  • Opossums are one of the oldest living mammals. They are highly successful due to their ability as omnivores to find food in diverse climates.

  • him eating like me :)

  • look at him smile so cute haha

  • I don't see why everyone hates them, my mom would freak out if she saw one, because of the tail. I have two rats and am probably the only one who loves their tails. If I could have a possum, I would, trust me.

  • @Amyarillo

the only people that hate them do not understand or appreciate them, that goes just about across the board for everything. I had 2 rats many years ago, white lab rats, it was kinda like that when people first saw them, shock, disgust, then curiosity, then acceptance. we humans are so fast to judge......ha. guess it's just a built in thing.

  • He daddys good little eater isnt he ?

  • @46dc9er

    yes "she" is...ha.

  • I wanna opossum! I hate that people don't like them.

  • So cute, kinda remind me of cats, but nicer. :P My cats are freaking mean!

  • @nolls888

yeah, kinda, if they only had a fluffy tail...ha. and purred...though they will go to the litter box, and wash themselves after every meal. thanks for writing.

  • sooo sweet when he eating :*****

  • Yeah, they're still pests,

  • I LOVE POSSUMS. Its REALLY rare for them to be rabid, They are actually one of the CLEANEST animals! Scientist observed them cleaning themselves several times during ONE meal! They don't want to harm you. They will either hiss or growl or "play possum" (but they will play dead at last resort.) They are preditors to almost ANYTHING. Including snakes, birds, and EVEN dogs, cats AND humans. These animals are very misunderstood. :( <3

    There so adorable... :)

  • I was expecting her to take a little nibble at the strawberry, I can't believe she shoved the whole thing in her mouth, haha. She looked like she really enjoyed that petting, what a cutie.

  • Possums are soo cute they make me puke a rainbow cuz they hav this cute little hands, this cute big shinny eyes, this cute pink nose and...... this ugly huge rat tail BUT i don't care cuz they still look cute

  • @kirani111

I will admit, the tail is something to behold. Especially when it puts a gentle grip around your arm while holding them. It is very soft and warm and has just the slightest amount of hair, very fine.

  • Awww really??? T-T i want 1

  • yeah, and my parents told me the way i chew was disrespectful

  • @nazmimimi

    Ha, good one...

  • They don't ever get rabies, since their body temp is apparently a few degrees too low for the rabies virus to grow.

  • Will she sit on your lap like a cat? She seemed to like the petting.

  • @gtrwarriordon Yes she will, but prefers to snuggle down between your leg and side of chair or couch. Does not like to be held like a cat but will sit or perch on your shoulder, which is not comfortable because of the needle like claws, best to have a towel or thick top on. Good climbers. Thanks for writing.

  • @cudaviper Thank you for the reply. I've got a possum that comes into my garage every now and again to clean up any remaining cat food. I will never attempt to touch it, ( I am guessing you raised yours from when she was real young ). I love how my cats and the possum respect each other. I think possums are cute as hell. I love their little hands, although I was not aware of the claws, another reason to respect the little guy.

  • @gtrwarriordon

Excellent, they will usually come around on their routine route at night. She was raised from the size of a large mouse. We have 5 cats and they do respectfully keep their distance although one cat is brave enough to sleep close to her. Check my other video where you can see the hind feet have thumbs with no nails, used in climbing and grasping branches, they also use their tails to aid in climbing and to gather leaves and such for nesting in the wild.

  • Wow this video changes my mind about these possums...I think what you say is so true.. Thanks!

  • @OurOrganicHaven

Thank you, very glad you enjoyed. I too at one point had a much different opinion about them but as usual, time and knowledge opened a new understanding and appreciation for these beautiful and unique creatures. Best regards.

  • I like the opossum because they eat the moles and mice in the ground, they will eat kitty treats like beef and fish.

  • That was awesome.

  • My father had a chicken coop when I was little and the possums in the area used to get in and eat the chicken eggs. Our Labrador absolutely hated them and one day she got one and killed it. My dad went to put the body out in the woods only to find three babies in the pouch, scared but unharmed. In the end, we raised them to be three healthy little adults and our dog never bothered any adult possums in the area ever again. My dad didn't even care about them getting in the coop after that.

  • @hichixichifoeva

That's a pretty cool story. Wish more people could get to know the habits and traits of these special creatures. They are much cooler than most think. Thanks for sharing that one.

  • @hichixichifoeva That's really beautiful, wish their were more people like you and your dad:)

  • @hichixichifoeva how big were they, did they have fur yet? what did you feed them after the mom was dead?

  • @ando1135 They were of a decent size. Big enough to hiss at us and old enough to have fur. After they calmed down we fed them this odd milk-formula thing that some people at a Wild-Life Rescue shelter loaned to us along with some oatmeal.

  • @hichixichifoeva

thats great humanity for you ^_^ I LOVE that ^_^ opossums are the least dangerous animal in the wild.

  • Awww it is beautiful!

  • @StudioXIIIcomic

Thanks, I think they all are special looking creatures. Something to get use to is having that tail wrap around your arm as an anchor when you pick her up. Quite unique.

  • @cudaviper Is she able to completely support her weight by hanging from her tail? I was always curious if it is true that they actually hang upside down when sleeping or frightened. Is she full grown?

  • @StudioXIIIcomic

I have never seen adults in that position, although I have heard that very young ones can do that, once they get so big the tail will not support the weight. They do use the tail to stabilize themselves while climbing and it is used to gather leaves and branches when nesting. Fascinating creatures they are. In this video she is not full grown, will get around to loading one where she is, BIG GIRL. And they don't "play possum", they actually pass out from fear.

  • I did not know possums could make good pets, around here I see them as awful little animals. I guess It depends on if you raise them when they are very young.

  • @thehawk1964

You are so correct hawk, and that goes for humans too, if you raise them with love, kindness, compassion, it will reflex in the way they act as they get older. Pretty much works with all species I think.

  • Oh my. Did you rescue it or find it? I was thinking about getting one, I just need to find someone who could tell me more about them so I'll know what I'm getting into.

  • @mariemischievous Kinda both, she was the size of a large mouse. The diet will be the most important thing. They may want to eat everything but like people it is not always good for them. Research online for diet info and stick to it. They will go to a litter box and will sleep 12 to 14 hours a day, fairly low maintenance and very easy going nature. Good luck.

  • You sure that's not a pig?

  • I LOVE that lip smacking noise they make! <333

  • @cudaviper...Lol, what a smacking smackerface while eating its strawberry...sounds really delicious. So cute! Thanks for sharing this vid :) it made me smile.

  • cute fella

  • What a lovely opossum and very funny with the DayWalker comment :)

  • so cute!! I have one but I fear touch her :( I only give her the food at distance, my cat bring her cause the fool thought it was a mouse haha, but she is so quiet and she fears me I think, a pretty pretty pet

  • @hilda1306

Do not fear her, hold her, she will not bite, they love being up high so dont worry if it wants to climb up on shoulder. Treat it like a cat, they love to be rubbed and scratched under chin. Diet is important, so mix it up, they love eggs but keep to a minimum, too much protein. fruit is good, meal worms they love, can get them at bait shop or online. They will go to a litter box. Check online for more info about diet and such. Thanks and good luck.

  • Is it wild?

  • @RIRITHEKING

No not at all, got her when she was about the size of a large mouse.

  • Nom Nom

  • Nom om

  • OM NOM NOM NOM

  • Sweet video! Thumbs Up!

  • watchout , we got a badass in here

  • are you a vampire? whats up with your nails g?

  • @KingRemy01

Vampire? no, DayWalker....ha. sorry, just kidding.. I just like it, being a little different. Actually comes in handy from time to time. Never thought about it much til now. May have to do a video explaining it, not near enough room here. Best regards.

  • One day in the morning I caught an opossum and it ate a can of cat food then I released it.

  • i would like to be scrached too by hands like these!

  • favorite video and animal ever

  • I KNO THE POSSUM IS SUPPOSE TO HAVE CLAWS DIDNT KNOW HUMANS WERE NO OFFENSE, JUX THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF THEN TRY TO HELP ANIMALS!

  • @YoungFreshDaBest What in this video indicates I do not take care of myself? My hands are clean, my nails are nicely manicured and my fangs are sharp. Did I miss something here?

  • @cudaviper please excuse me 4 my ignorence i didnt mean anything by it i was just making a statment that i probably should have kept to myself maybe you know mre about the human body than i do so i apologize!

  • @YoungFreshDaBest No worries about it, it is not the first or last time, people are curious. We all strive for something we like or enjoy to set us apart, be it the car we drive, clothes, music, pets, you know, whatever. How boring it all would be if there were not people like you and me. Take care and best regards.

  • @cudaviper thanks anyway and again my apologies for the ignorence but nw i have obtained knowledge and grew to understand your ways

  • @YoungFreshDaBest wow you're such an asshole.

  • What an obnoxious eater. ;-)

  • Adorable!!!

  • Oh my god I just came from the sickest ( as if disgusting ) video of a jack russel killing one of these and now I go to this I think I'm permanently fucked in the head now

  • AWWWW... Dammit why is it so cute? I am a guy for christ sake....

  • We had an opossum around the house last winter that apparently had to start hunting for food during the day due to the extreme cold and snow. We looked up what was good for them to eat, and fed him (her?) regularly for about a month until spring came and he went about his usual business again elsewhere. Lovely animal.

  • @gimmeyootoob That is great to hear, I wish more people would appreciate what a unique creature these are. Thanks for that and I'm sure the possum is grateful as well. From the experience I've had you can tell a female from a male by the head and ears. The female seems to have a broader head with floppier ears where the male tends to have a longer snout with the ears standing up a bit more. Thanks again.

  • tell him to closehis moth when eating lol nah just joking u should do more videos on it

  • @blackopsmaster569 `Ha, your right. but its a she and she doesn't listen to anything I have to say, especially about table manners.. there are 3 more videos, check my other vids..and thanks. Will post more when I get time.

  • Haha, very cool. Smacker.

  • @ABigBlueFish1 We heard a strange noise in the garage, sounded more like a baby bird barking/chirping, then saw her in the corner and the wife put her hand out and she climbed in. Nice and gentle as could be.

  • It looks so adorable when it eats the strawberry ^-^

  • One person is racist against strawberries

  • I want one 8D

  • NOMNOM! GOBBLE!

  • Why didn't you give her another strawberry?

  • Possum Eating Strawberry Part 2: "Possum Eating Finger"

  • Dang once he got a taste of that strawberry it was GONE

  • It reminds me of a cat

  • whoa there piggy!

  • Awww~ That's adorable~ I've been trying to find a nearby place to get a pet possum, preferably a baby or tame adult, but all I ever find are short-tailed possums. ;c

I prefer just your usual backyard possums to them. I just love their black/white coat, their ferret nose, and their cat-like size.~ The only 'little critter' I enjoy are sugar gliders, otherwise I like things to at least be cat-sized. I'm certain short-taileds aren't that.

Siiigh. Where'd you get this cutey anywho? c:

  • @Shithra The wife found her in the garage, was the size of a large mouse and chirping like a bird. Wife held her hand out and she climbed right into it. Didn't know it was a she til a few months later when the pouch developed.. Like kangaroos they are called Jacks if males and Jills if female, so we called her JJ. Thanks for writing.

  • @cudaviper Ahhh~ Very lucky. :D I'd assume I'll find mind with its mother hit by a car and the babies still a live in a pouch. Gross to be inspecting a dead possum on the side of the road, but hey, there may be lives that need help in that dead possum's pouch, assuming it's a girl.

Didn't know about the Jack and Jill thing. Does that go for all marsupials?

  • @Shithra find mine*

  • @Shithra Crap, alive* Derptastic.~

  • He/she looks cute. Is that really your pet?

  • How did i get from watching Dubstep to this!?

  • @vip28100 easy explanation. dubstep is garbage, which is what opossums usually eat.

  • Sooooooooooooo cute! I wish I could own one!

  • pet peeve: chewing gum smackers...but this made me crack up! lol

  • like a toothless person eatin a steak.

  • awwwwwww

  • Cute! I liked its mouth when it was finishing up the strawberry. Hehe.

They sure do have interesting feet though?

  • awwww it's cute.... it was acting kinda like a cat when you started petting it

  • Strawberries are the taste of sex...therefore,did sex taste good little guy!?!?! xD

  • Holy tail!

  • What a tail!

  • What a tail!!

  • what do you mean they dont carry rabies? Where did you hear that???

  • @WestCoastIrk Any mammal can get rabies. However, the chance of rabies in an opossum is EXTREMELY RARE. This may have something to do with the opossum’s low body temperature (94-97º F) making it difficult for the virus to survive in an opossum’s body.
