Good vid but the tvr would have eaten you alive with a confident, experienced driver at the wheel, those two cars are not anywhere near the same league.
The ring rules!!! Maybe i'll see you there with my tuscan one day for a rematch :D

I tried to squeeze past him on the outside of the last corner but inevitably got forced off the track onto the grass. Can't believe we managed to keep control and miss the arnco!!
My mate's Honda Integra DC5 had about 10bhp less than my 'Rex and he could beat me in a straight line (although only just) so I would be very surprised if your 150bhp were faster. Regardless, I'm sure the TVR driver in this vid was suffering from lack of experience & confidence which can make more difference than the car's potential performance; I'm sure the TVR would have faired better in the right hands. But would it have 'won'? - I'm not sure! The Rex handles so beautifull
@madasten9 the downside to owning an rx-8 is the low torque & fuel economy the only 2 drawbacks my friend had 1 so i have been in one not just reading off the internet he was getting 18-25mpg all stock beautiful sound as it was the 231bhp higher revving engine it was a good car for diffing and he had it upto 149mph on the motorway at night it was a very very quick car but a re-mapped 330d just has the extra torque to be quicker he was very surprised when i took him for a spin lol not hating =]
Hmmm, now I own a TVR, an S2, utilising the Ford 2.9 V6 This engine produced 168bhp as new, so around 150bhp now (my engine is 100000 miles old). I have tuned up suspension and uprated brakes. That is it. My car can stick with a 230bhp RX8, and overtake it in a straight line. Now, my dad has a Chimaera, and whilst the standard Bilstein suspension is NOT as firm as my uprated shocks, the car is a lot faster in a straight line than mine, which would lead me to believe it is faster than an RX8.
Exciting! The tvr driver clearly didn't like it when you tried overtaking him. You missed the apex at 7:37 although it was clearly the most exciting turn when the tvr was also oversteering, good chase scene:)
Really nice driving, what camera were you using? I purchased a gopro motorsport hero wide recently to make some cool vids for our forums and channel :) Cheers!

Cheers TRH, camera was nothing special - a Fujifilm S5500 which I bought about 10 years ago! Filming was done by my girlfriend Steph who admittedly has a pretty strong nerve for a girl who doesn't drive lol. Have fun with your Renesis :)
Nice car the RX8 but i prefer a TVR, you are clearly a better driver than the bloke in the TVR.
That Chimaera should easily be faster than the RX8, if driven properly through the twisties, it doesnt look like the bloke in the Chimaera has much confidence in his brakes, you deffinitely close him down under braking.
Yep, I also thought we were destined for the armco! I tried to overtake him just as he decided to overtake the car in front, so I had to swerve to miss him. Just as well as it all turned out ok :o)
The more I watch this vid the more I realise what a messy lap it was. Can't wait to go back and try it again in my own car (this was my company car so I was restricted for time, tyres and brakes!)
I loved the RX8's handling, but wouldn't complain if it sounded like a TVR!

right at the end was that your mistake or did the tvr run you wide?

It had to be the driver, your driving is very good, but a tvr would have to be faster.

y that it has beaten many higher performance cars on a complex circuit. I've never driven a TVR though so can't really compare.
Thanks for watching! :)

i guess the chimaera driver is just pretty careful.
understandably IMO with a car so rare and so bitchy to handle.
nice driving and im glad you didnt hit the barrier. i couldnt stand that rotary sound tho :D

Bloody hell i nearly died when you came off at the end, i though you were going to end up in the armco for a seccond lol.
The Chimaera doesnt seem to have much grip, weird.
