In the Fall of the Samurai dlc they will have Ironclads and you will be able to use ships in land battles for support and there is a new siege type where you use coastal guns to defend ports :)

@TheWellington1014 Yes they will, look up the Fall of the Samurai dlc, it takes place during the meiji restoration in the late 1800 during the Boshin war in 1868 just after the American Civil War. They will have ironclads similar to the ones used in the Civil War.

what i have learned from this video is that if i buy a rowboat, glue bamboo to it, and add a few cannons, i can steer it next to a cruiser and open fire and win.

Well, the Nihon Maru (or any other type of jap ship) wasn't really built for rushing headlong into cannon-boats, the japs were mostly used to arrows and fire, and learned this lesson the hard way against the korean turtle-ships, though the Nihon Maru survived that battle.

The Nihon Maru was simply a symbol of the shogun's military power. A floating, impenetrable fortress carrying a small army, and towering above all other ships, it's sheer size alone demoralizing the enemy.

For anyone who care- Nihon Maru simply means "Ship of Japan" or "Japan Ship"

because Nihon means Japan and Maru is a suffix used to designate a ships title.

@brainwasher9876 It's an aesthetic thing, really. I, personally, quite like the warfare of Feudal Japan much more than that of Napoleonic and Imperial ages. As for the ships...Japanese ships don't look the best in this game, but you can't have everything. lol

uhm cannon bunes cannot be boarded becouse the inside is al sealed up if you look closely. just try it in a battle it isnt possible to board those canon bunes

there should be an expansion for Shogun 2 that details warfare for mainland Asia such as Korea and China. It would be great to see the Turtle Ships used by the Koreans, and taking on the massive Chinese Forts as the Mongols. All total wars have expansions starting with the original Shogun and the Mongol invasion

you cant board the cannon bunes and the best fleet is 4 nanban trade ships and the black ship as the flag ship. Its easy to capture the black ship with just 3 nanban trade ships

tried play once with mori black ship+2 nihon maru,all of those ship gets like 10 chevrons or something,even 5 sengoku bune,2 heavy bunes,a hell lotta fire bomb kobayas and i guess a 2 stack full of medium bune can't beat me(i kinda guess these ship would really conquer the sea)

The Nihon Maru is not the largest ship, the Black ship is. Nihon Maru is a child compared to the Black Ship, try taking that on with two cannon ships and see how that goes!
