    big daddy bossman

  • max in lockport, ny--- 1977 during a snow storm and 6 people in the audiance. party-on dudes

  • I shouda been a doctor...thx...for uploading.

  • There isn't a track on the album that is even close to being weak. Everything is strong. Everything is even mighty. This is one of the best albums of the 70's and will go down in history as such.

The attitude, the presentation, the playing, the sound... all of it... as pure as it comes. I saw Kim and the boys at a high school concert in '76. Even though we'd seen it all, we knew then that we were seeing something special. They were unreal... nothing like Max.

They paved the way for Max Headroom

  • Kim's playing, at times, sounds exactly like Zappa.

  • Thx for the upload.

  • How did the Trailer park boys miss this tune for Bubbs?

  • @jeffthecanuck2 "The door's open and the stairs are steep" referred to the upstairs lounge at the Gasworks in TO. Those stairs from the front were really steep.. then there was the spiral staircase at the back.. the quart beers for 2 bucks..those were the days..the bouncer named Peter 10 Bears..

  • i had this lp as a kid and mine didnt say "featuring kim mitchell" on it? i wouldnt have cared anyways - i just found this in my mom and stepdads albums and i have always loved it since i felt adventurous and put it on one bored afternoon - One of the best albums EVER! :)

  • i had this lp as a kid and mine didnt say "featuring kim mitchell" on it?

  • If it matters to anyone, I have this on vynal.... no Kim Mitchel mention and for further argument not on any Max Webster album!!

  • @jgunner13 OK, this is the original(minus the featuring Kim...). Relesed in the states as "Hangover", & no machine, just one giant head. (O & the back had a pic of post-party coffee table - made perfect sense @ the time. Kim's playing notwithstanding, this was largely Pye's genius. - -'scuse me, - -fucking HUGE genius.

  • @jgunner13 Wow, where did that come from? I was only echoing your info & adding some more. The opinion was about giving Pye his due, since most talent related comments are about Kim & Terry. No offence intended. "Carve away the war."

  • @pickinpedaler Hey brother sorry bout the reply; I mis-understood your reply... too much whiskey...lol. Sorry again man and thanx.

    JG

  • @jgunner13 all good - maybe i do have some friends here among the cats... Oh, I also added Go For Soda to my faves last night

  • The door is open, the stairs are steep...

  • Cover's and Crapitalist's aside ,,, Love this album ! Lived it ! No brother's to hand it down to me ! Webster was a BAND ! QUIT nit picking ,, enjoy ! Jeez ,, it's this it's that no ,, he no they NAH he as she did that ,, F'K ! Roll your chair outside awhile !!!

  • classic, under rated and awesome

  • I saw this group as the warm up act at a Rush Concert in 1978. Kim was running around the stage in red long johns. I never heard of him before, but I was blown away by his guitar playing. Fast forward about 25 years - I saw him again as part of a three piece group. The long johns were gone, but both he and his band were as awesome as ever.

  • And personally I thought the group Max Webster was better then Kim's solo music

  • That cover art disturbs me :'/

  • there is another version of the cover, similar but far better IMHO, green background, equally disturbing though

  • Max Webster records never said "Featuring Kim Mitchell".... The original pressings just said Max Webster.

  • @kyuss4me

You are so right....I have them all, and none say it

  • @kyuss4me Ya really!

  • @kyuss4me ... amen brutha !!! .. I hate that also

  • @LifesonFan4Life Checked out your channel...nice playing!

  • sweeet!

  • my all time fav webster tune. thanks for posting!

  • I LOVE Kim Mitchell, but dislike how the record company tacked "featuring Kim Mitchell" on all the CD Max Webster releases. I understand the marketing purpose, but damn, this was a band. And again, this is no slam on Mr. Mitchell. Fact is, he is one of my all-time favourite artists, songwriters, guitar players, ever. Genius, in my opinion.

This was heavy shit in the mid-70s, man.

  • I think it was just a joke made by the band.

  • No, I think, as I said, the record company put the tag on the covers to capitalize on Kim's then-fame (late 80s). He was big then, and many weren't aware of his being a member of Max Webster. To help sales, you know.

  • That can't be possible because Kim Mitchell started his solo career in the early 80s, and this album was released in 1976, it was the first Max Webster album.

  • Yes, but the first pressing of Max records to CD only happened when that digital technology became available ... the 80s. Max Webster albums were not available on CD until well after Kim had gone solo. By that time, Kim, as a solo artist, had exceeded Max's fame, and therefore the record companies likely decided to tack the "featuring Kim Mitchell" on the CD releases as a way to entice and make aware Fans of KIm's solo work.

  • So, it dident say "featuring Kim Mitchell" when it was released on vinyl?

  • If I recall my older brother's vinyl copies of the albums, no, it didn't. And why would it? Kim was hardly a known name at the time of the debut's release. Max Webster was a band, straight up. At that time, who would have cared if it "featured Kim Mitchell"?

  • Thats why I thought it was a joke.

  • I gotcha. No, it was added in later years on the CD releases as a promotional tool.

Cool to chat with a fellow Max fan! Cheers!

  • This was the shit in 1975 Cutting edge TEAK RIVERS

  • Bought this vinyl in bargain bin last week for $2.50. Hasn't left my turntable since

  • Damn, thats a great deal, considering the quality of this album.

  • Right on GordonYYZ. Great Canadian rock. Coolest Max Webster tune which was impossible to find until your posting. Nice.
