  • I Love this song! What a commentary on those who pose as rock stars with the latest fashion but no depth or talent behind them!

  • Regardless who plays the F*cking bass in this track its still great. Yes Mick Karn was a genius...does that mean any track every written by anyone out there if mick is not playing on it then its crap? Get a grip...well done kevin

  • Midge Ure is one of my fav artists of all time.....Love Ultravox.....but love this so much xx

  • This is beautiful......one of my favs of ALL time...Thank you xx

  • This is one of my all time favs.... Midge Ure is a fabulous musician.....Love Ultravox, Japan and all their associated connotations/collaborations!

  • I had this song in mind and soul since the 80's....so fine!

By the way the drummer is very great!

  • Kenny Hyslop from Slik..:)

  • Thank you ! ;-)

  • "hey ho you wear it well" .. lol i cant see anyone humming this one on the way home...

  • What a disgrace! The other filmed vid shows more of Mick Karn's antics. This one is just a weak brew, as far as tea goes! Never thought Mick would agree to this clip.

  • Dont understand this comment. Why does Midge need permission from Mick to play this track live ?

  • :)))))

  • A bassists nightmare this one ! T

  • Wow, this is so good. I like it more than the original!

  • WTF is Midge Ure doing... is that a dance routine? I dedicate this whole set to the local tip.

  • wow this is realy bad!!!!

  • In what way ?

  • I just saw the strap pivot plate - its a Steinberger alright.

And you play it well. Hey ho you play it well!

  • Great playing Kev. Looks like an old Steinberger L2 you're playing, but its never on long enough for me to tell.

it doesnt look like a steinberger logo.

  • lo siento...pero sin Mick Karn no es lo mismo....

  • Loved that he dedicated the set to Phil Lynott. Another great frontman.

  • dzieki za wspaniała muzyke...

  • Go Danny!!! Play it Kevin!! xxxx

  • Look at you Kevin! Great stuff... :-)

  • Saw this live at Wembly Arena 1985..Great track..The Chieftain/The Dancer another excellent live track from Wembly!!

  • You all seem a bit confused, my name is Kevin Powell, and I am most definately the bass player on the tube clips, and very proud to have worked with Midge, he is a lovely guy.I did his solo tour to promote THE GIFT. I also played on "Call of the wild" I agree I am no substitute for Mick Karn on this, but he is one of a kind.

If you are curious, the most recent thing I did was the Steve Coogan tour at the end of last year.

  • Kev, it's great to hear your experiences with one of the great legends of the 80's. Fantastic that Midge has at last decided to get back with Ultravox, whatever the motivation it's great news for the fans. As for 'Call Of The Wild', for me it's the best work by Midge and excellent that you had the chance to collaborate on this track.

  • Thanks for that, It was the best bass gig I had the pleasure of doing.

  • Kevin, you so rock!!! Did a great job on this set of vids..I am big Mark King fan and you did great on "Chieftain/Dancer"!!!

    Cheers!!

  • Thank you for the kind comments emt.

  • Not a problem at all!!

    xx

  • Hey kev, your fretless bass sounds good to me. I was lucky enough to have mine made by the late great Ian Waller (wal) in 1985, is that a steinburg that you are playing?

  • @greyman45

it's a great bass line with the typical sound of the 80s

    lovely fretless bass interpretation

well done , very good job , very good bass player ...

  • Great playing Kevin! You have your own distinctive voice on the bass. I saw you with Midge on The Gift tour and was hugely impressed with your interpretations. High quality player mate, ignore the ignoramuses!!

  • I want my Mick....

Where the hell is he in the lives? =(

  • My good God, as usual Midge is in utterly superb form with this, just so the ''master'' of everything he turn's his very skilled hands to!! God bless ya Midge mate.

  • I had utterly forgotten about this great song - just amazing to hear it again and mruresm8 Midge Ure is a really tremendous performer. Thanks dlusman for sharing this brill vid!!!

  • Nice to see Midge doing this...

...But indeed, it's a shame that Mick wasn't there...

  • where is mick karn . in fact where is mick carn in every thing my great base hero

  • see "midge ure - star" in my list of other videos

  • It's everything I remember!

Steve on bass...what an impact he made in this version of the band.

  • This is awesome... but not the same without Mick Karn... This bassist is good but nothing compared to Mick.

  • this is music!

    mistery,originality, and the bass line......

    thanks for posing this!!!
