  • This movie is the BOSS on every level. So I don't understand how Mann could give us such a stinker with the Miami Vice flick. God, I hated that steaming pile. Long live HEAT.

  • for every genre there is a film which dictates the rest of them and this is heat. Heat has changed action movies and made them much more realistic and sophisticated. the plots are better the action is coordinated and most importantly they aren't over the top like michael bay films.

  • "Ok Have 1 Of Em Pick Me Up At The Vermont On Ramp.....Lets Go"..(GODLY MUSIC PLAYS)!!

  • badass song badass atomosphere Deniro strapped..cant get any better than that

  • when this song comes on in the car, my mpg goes out the window

  • Just a straight up bad ass scene.....the music score was perfect for this scene...I saw this in the movies with my ex in 95. It was unreal.

  • Wow - I've seen this move a few times (love it) and never knew this was a Joy Division cover... must be getting old.

  • I get chills every time that riff comes.

  • does anyone know where i can get the instrumental of this song!!!! IT'D BE FRIGGEN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheAclark109 It's on a CD w/All of MM's TV and Movie music, including Miami Vice and Last of Mohicans.

  • they shoulda used joy divisions better version

  • @scatcam

hmmm.... don't think that joy division would fit THAT great in this scene...

  • i´ve seen this scene x-times by now, but i cant stand why its so fucking awesome - i mean ther is nothing special just a heli flight, short stint on the highway and nice track - but you can feel it - pacino wants to get him - no matter what! - dont know if m.mann will ever reach this level again

  • Al Pacino is the most intimidating cop of all time

  • what would happen if tony montana met travis bickle????

  • One of the most perfect movies ever made.

  • whats weird is this song was originally supposed to be used for the end-credits, and that his "God Moving Over the Face of the Waters" was supposed to be used in this scene.

I am EXTREMELY HAPPY that Mann chose to use "God" at the end...it helped make it one of the BEST endings ever.

  • @mhaze210 couldn't have said it better my friend

  • Mann rules

  • it has to be an epic music because theres never in movie history were al pacino meets up with robert de niro, this was one of the first, you just gotta make it epic

  • Michael Mann signature - the zoom on the tire during the pursuit - this movie rules!

  • suites perfectly to visuall scene when pacino gets angree and his whole life suck only cuz he got to hunt those gansters.... it defently gets the viewer to the feelings that he got in that moment full of problems and anger

maybe simply the best movie after goodfellas

  • One of my top 10 favorite movies and one of the best scenes of all time.

  • I swear this is my favorite scene in the movie lol

  • My favorite scene in Heat too.

  • matches perfectly

  • un dmes films préférés ! il est parfait

  • this scene is so perfect. This film is so brilliant

  • joy division is better ok

  • ok.

  • i like the original better too, i didnt even realize this was a cover of that song until seeing this

  • The city from the choper, the radio transmissions, the racing cars, lights fashing by........what do ya say,i buy you a cup of coffee? best movie and soundtrack EVER made. no disbute !

  • "Hi!, I'm the guy who wants yer' ass behind bars!"

    "want some coffe?"

god, how I love this scene!

  • Powerful sequence from a stunning movie, Michael Mann, De Niro, Paccino...What more can I say.

  • Strongly agreed this film is a beauty!

  • It's too bad I can't do 180mph down the freeway like him....

  • Totally love this scene. The combination of the music + imagery are very powerful, on the same level as the Miami Vice scene featuring Phil Collin's In the Air Tonight. Just great.

  • I actually like the original Joy Division version better..though I love to drive to this!

  • I F*****G love the soundtrack of this and movie is one of my favorite all time classics

  • @ lir0vid: The song is called "New Dawn fades" and its on an album from moby, "I like to score" from 1997.

  • Does anyone have the full mp3 of this song? Its on the Heat OST, but the one there is just 2min or so, while full is more than 4min...If anyone has full version, could you upload it for me please?

  • They put the soundtrack on iTunes finally.

  • I can watch this movie over and over again. And everytime again I hope that deniro will survive the end...

  • Best film ever

  • Everything about Heat hits on all cylinders. The cast, directing, soundtrack, everything. It's a true masterpiece.

  • @generalgeewhiz except the ending =/

  • Perfect song for this scene.....nuff said.

  • Fucking great song.

  • Is this the first time pacino and deniro talk to each other in a movie?

  • THat's something some folks would call as an "epic scene" :o)

    Sorry can't answer your question..

  • Yup, I believe so. Thats why this scene was so special!

  • think so and its a part that took a place in hollywood history

  • Yes. The only time they previously worked together on a film was The Godfather, Part II and they did not interact in the film. This is the first time we see them face to face in any movie. It was highly awaited by fans. I own it on DVD and I can watch it again and again. An absolute masterpiece. Goes right up there with other classic films of the 20th century.

  • I respect you

  • Detectives working in the Robbery/Homicide unit of the LAPD have access to brand new Infiniti sedans whenever they want one to pull over a criminal to chat. When they are pulling over criminals to arrest them or when they are trying to catch criminals tey ar required to drive Ford Crown Victorias or Chevrolet Caprice Classics, but when they just want to chat they are issued brand new Infiniti sedans.

  • Wow I love this movie so much !

  • Pacino rules!

  • Dont forget Francis Ford Coppola

  • Michael Mann and Martin Scorsese are a couple of great filmmakers who know how to define the words:Crime movies, and this movie rock the house with Pacino, and DeNiro and the bank shootout is so underrated, balletic, and well play from Mann, 5 stars for this crime classic from Mann.

  • i need to find this song so i can use it as my Ring tone....

  • Um, why not use the Joy Division version of "New Dawn Fades?"

  • Best score I ever heard! Totally rocks!

  • See the movie- it's on the cable/sat channels quite a bit.

Bank robbery shootout is probably one of the best ever made for movies.

The whole movie will keep you watching.

  • this was the scene that got me into michael mann/joy division

  • Ya, me too, Michael Mann is a genius!

  • he totally shoulda directed control, or at least hook up the rights to do a philip k dick novel

  • Where the fuck can I get this song by its self on youtube?

  • itunes mate look up moby new dawn fades ! then play it in your car whilst driving in the city at night !

  • look up MOBY new dawn fades, and you'll see it.

  • A cup of coffee!? Man if that was real life- you would be wondering how much do you really know detective!

  • he knows he's in his town-he can only guess the rest at this point

  • Michael Mann is a genius.

His first version of the movie is great also - L.A. Take Down 1989.

But this one... Too good !

Awesome how he captures the intensity of this beautifull place, L.A.

Five stars for a class Director and top actors !

  • BEST MOVIE EVER !!!

  • this is one of the greatest movie scenes EVER!!! Heat is a fuckin dope movie, and this new dawn fades version also rocks, I love HEAT! fuckin awesome movie lol

  • One of the best movies ever out of the 99% scum produced in Hollywood

  • 2 legends and many more stars together ... and the music ...ah.... Moby (JoyDivision) Top just top and awesome!!!!!

  • AWESOME SONG!!!!

  • moby/joy division + al pacino + michael mann = epic scene

  • great f*cking scene...love this movie

  • Moby is covering Joy Division... A good effort too.

  • the best film ever

  • Perfect time of the night to drive the LA freeways. Its fun to drive fast through LA at night, especially with good tunes like this.

  • oh yes !

  • Al Pacino is driving an Infiniti Q45 from the early to mid 90's era and Robert DeNiro is driving a Cadillac Seville also from the early to mid 90's.

  • Truely epic film...One of the modern classics.

  • In my point of view the most hypnotic

  • what is pacino driving? I cant seem to figure out what it is. not a sable or mx6.

  • a car

  • This part has the spirit of Miami Vice. Thanks Michael Mann!!!

  • robert de niro is he driving an Acura?

  • Heat is the best film ever!

  • oh! and "val kilmer's" get away is also very cool!! eheh

  • it's funny because when val kilmer gets stopped and they say this guy checks out this is john petersen... one of my neighbors is john petersen.

  • lolol Very cool! eheh

  • damn good movie! the al pacino/de niro talk scene at the diner is absolutely amazing!!

  • why the fuck is this movie so awesome. it never gets old....that michael mann,

  • Thanks for the 'axe Hero' Moby bit! I wish that guy would just put his guitar down. Stick to the synths.

  • I just love the facial expressions of Deniro. Truly a legend.

  • How ya doin?

  • I'm not a fan of Moby's music, but this instrumental cover really works, and it goes great with this scene in the movie.

I'm glad the director decided to move this score up from the ending sequence to this point of the movie.

  • Both versions are fucking great.

  • great song, great movie. joy division kicks ass

  • i agree 100 percent with this sentiment.

  • song and scene matches perfectly... i love it

  • fantastic scene from one classic scene

  • oh god i love this song and scene.

  • Very inspiring scene. It becomes mandatory that you play this song in your night ride, especially when your driving on any of the LA freeways.

  • I do all the time!

  • So true, although I'm not living in LA (but in Germany), I also love to play this song when driving my MY2008 X5 at night!

  • to bad you don thave that car and ur trying to get attention. good job fag.

  • I'm usually not fighting with some frustrated nerds over these kind of things, but you might want to check my vids.

  • you might wanna blow me liar :)

  • I'd like to shit in your mouth, because seemingly you are always talking crap.

    Is that also an option?

  • "I'd like to shit in your mouth, because seemingly you are always talking crap."

WTF is wrong with you for communicating like that?

  • Listen little dogfucker, that is how we talk over here in Holland? You know, the country of wooden shoes, windmills and weed, lots of weed. Which might be an explanation for our way of communicating.

But I take that you already would have figured that out.

  • Just because our politicians have a soft stance against religion it does not mean we have...anyway, in a couple of years time we can atleast AFFORD to fight our enemies, while the US needs loans from the IMF to atleast feed its people, or needs to rely on foodhelp from the UN because otherwise you would starve to death.

  • ahhhhhhh damn this movie is absoultly a fucking masterpiece excellent!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Truly one of the best films made and i love this whole scene and music is ace I was so happy when I finally downloaded the song after I found out what it was called lol however I wish i could get justrthe score version of this as i feel the words spoil it just a little bit but cant find it anywhere :(

  • So magically filmed - the sheer genius and brilliance of Michael Mann

  • Al and Bobby....still awesome....and very sexy...

    we love you...

  • "The Insider" of Michael Mann with Al Pacino and Russel Crowe 1999

  • I love this song, i own it on the cd single of Feeling so real i owned it for ages before i found out that song was on it

  • personal favorite. typical Mann style editing. similar camera angles and the way music is used in sequence as seen in 80's Miami Vice tv series. very cool. plus what a casting! truly epic.

  • Hey guys, I bought the Heat Soundtrack just for this song. To my disappointment, the song had moby's lyrics in it. Does anyone know where I can get just the instrumental version (as heard in the movie) without the chopper and cars.

Any help would be much appreicated.

  • It's originally a Joy Division Song it's on the Unknown Pleasures album, There's a Moby Version on the Soundtrack for 24hr Party People, gimme a shout if you want either version.

  • great Acfors...great Movie...great Script...great Director.. thats the second Edition, the first Movie was shoot in the 80's,with unknown actors...but the second with Al, Bobby and Val is better,of course....and see "THE INSIDER",by Michael Mann..also a good Movie...Crowe has to deserve a Academy Award for his Performens as "Wigand"

  • One of the best movies ever made

  • Terrifying, brilliant, mesmerizing. I loved the original by Joy Division, loved it. I love even more the Moby remix, one of the greatest cover jobs I think I ever heard. He totally kept the original Angst of the song, and actualised it with some über-hardcore electro. Get your hands on the song, it sounds huge when you play it loud.

Plus, it is in one of my very, very fav. movies of all times, and sets up the huge diner scene between DeNiro and Pacino.

    Genius. Thanks for posting.

  • im with you - heat and collateral were amazing - of course miami vice was wicked as well from what i see on the dvds - stay strong michael mann! i just wish he had nothing to do with the new miami vice movie though - he can do better by far. hugs!

  • isnt this cover is by john frusciante?

  • John also does an acoustic cover of this song, however this cover is by Moby

  • Orginal version was recorded by Joy Division ;)

  • thought it was Joy division when I saw this.. thanks for confirming it. You must be a real fan.

  • Every last frame of this film is magnificent...Heat is a grand slam

  • well ian curtis is dead nearly 28 years so who gives a fuck about u or ian
