@sleepy9213 yes well kinda i went to the apple store and they said wtaer had spilt on it or the last like repair thing did not do it right so yer and about mouth later my iphonebreaks because the brightness duffend so i have to shine a bright light over it plus its like 4-5yrs old use to be my brothers every thing on it had likes break so now i have the orange san francisco(tip dont let apple scam you for money but make sure yr not in a crap repair thing whatever so cool hoped hlpd:)

I found the solution, Just take out the sim card.. turn off your phone, take out the simcard and don't put it back.. then place the plate back and turn the phone on again.. It worked for me..

the problem is a factory defect. This is because a faulty soldering of the 88W8686 Marvell WiFi chip. You dont have to replace anything just solder it right

I have an original Iphone, the fourth one and the 3G. The old one with cracked screen and new one pick up wifi. The 3g doesn't. I had it about a year and all of a sudden it won't pick up wifi. My laptops work fine. I reset the phone, restoreded, backed up, reset network and updated. I did everything but put it in the freezer. It's messed up. I did notice that the 'forget this network' link is missing as well as renew lease button when you go into wifi settings.

Phone is defective.

Here is a trick that definitely worked for me. Put you iPhone in the 'Freezer' for 1 hour, then try to reconnect to any Wireless Hotspot. The main cause of this issue is the WiFi Antenna is on the motherboard which gets hot, and in return messes up the WiFi. So be sure to place your iPhone in a Zip Lock Bag, Seal It, and place it in the Freezer on top of ice for precisely 1 hour, if this does not work, then try placing it for 2 hours. another solution is to let the battery drain out... once the battery is fully out of charge then recharge it... in a lot of cases the wifi seems to work after the battery has been recharged

The EXACT same thing is happenning to me. My brother has an iPhone too, and he is able to connect to our wifi without any trouble. But I keep getting the "unable to join network" message, and my only option is to click dismiss. I've tried everything, like turning my phone off and on and turning the wifi off and on, and it doesn't work either.

I had this problem too for a while and what you have to do is when you click on the little blue arrow of your network, for the Ip adress, select DHCP of the three choices. This fixed my problem! :)

If you jailbreak your iphone 3GS 3.1.2 using blackra1n, there seems to be some issues with that jailbreak and the wifi connection. I fixed my iphone by doing a complete itunes restore and doing the blackra1n jailbreak only. Once thats done I override that with redsnow. Then I delete blackra1n from my springboard using cydelete. As soon as I delete blackra1n my wifi singal pops up. It took me 2 weeks to figure this out, and my phone has been functioning properly for 1 month now. good luck.

ha ha holy shit just kidding i just realized i was putting in the wrong password now it works. You should all check your password twice just to make sure your setting in the right one, who knows you might just be doing the same mistake i did and overlook the fact that i was inserting the wrong password. Thank god it wasn't any technical issue with my phone i was gonna say I JUST GOT THIS PHONE NOT EVEN a WEEK AGO!!! I hope all of u resolve this issue best of luck

look people...all i can say as a warning is...if u get the message thats mentioned in the description....then restoring ur iphone reseting rebooting all of this does not work...its not a jailbreak problem its an os 3.0 problem...and we hope the new update will fix this problem....too bad there is no downgrade from os 3.0

same problem, i have many routers and the wifi worked on all of them before.  The iphone 3G now only shows one of the many routers (time capsule). It does not allow me to connect and I am forced to dismiss it. I know that the routers work because the internet works on my computers. This problem occured a few weeks after updating the firmware to 3.0. I have reset, restored, and reset the network settings. I may have to send it in, lemme know it anyone has identified the problem.

Solved!!!

After 6 days I got my 3G, I visited my service provider repair shop, they analyzed the device for over an hour and finally replaced my iPhone with a new one, as it is aparently an unsolvable hardware issue.

The new one connects to any WiFi and it is already updated to 2.2... so far... 2 days since I got the replacement....

Try to have a replacement too, as Apple does not recognize this as an issue, let's see what they say when they get a plenty of 3G on RMA return.

I'm getting the same error with a 4 days old iphone 3g

-day 1 worked just great

-day 2 worked in the morning I connected to home network, cafe's network, office network but failed in the afernoon, since then I can not connect to any network

-day 3 I restored setting and even erased the iphone (took a big while) tried in another 5 or 6 WLAN with no success, my girl has a 3g too, hers is working great in all networks I tried

-day 4 (today) still unable to connect to any WiFi

You have to restore ipod and when u can select either "Set up as new Ipod" or "Preform Backup". Hit "Setup as new ipod"
