You know, it's missing Bill Bruford and Rick Wakeman. I am so partial to those 2. Pat Moraz is a fine muscian, but not Rick Wakeman. My concession is that it's good video from a fairly prime era of Yes. Thank you for whoever posted this. Classic!
Whilst I enjoy seeing and hearing where some of my favorite music has come from and developed, in my opinion you can't go past Montreux 2003 as by far the best YES concert ever. Original line-up and the sound is just sublime!
Im going to have to disagree with the OP here about the audio quality, the versions from YESSONGS sounds much better to my ears, and i even liked the way its played on that album. This is still fantastic though, thanks for posting it.
Turn round tailor assaulting all the mornings of the interest shown presenting one another, to the cord all left, dying, rediscovered of the door that turned round, to close the cover of the time at the timetell you to float your climb
If I could go back in time and see any musical performance anywhere, anytime . . . Mozart? . . . Elvis? . . . Beatles? . . . Jesus? . . . no . . . my easy choice would be this concert.
COINS AND CROSSES Turn round tailor, assaulting NEVER KNOW THEIR FRUITLESS WORTH All the mornings of the interest shown presenting one another to the cord CORDS ARE BROKEN All left dying, rediscovered of the door that turned around LOCKED INSIDE THE MOTHER EARTH To close the cover, all the interest shown THEY WON'T HIDE, THEY WON'T TELL YOU To turn to one another, to the sign at the time float your climb WATCHING THE WORLD, WATCHING ALL OF THE WORLD, WATCHING US GO BY! Jon Anderson - not S.Howe
@Blade1310 Aren't those hard-to-decipher words printed on the inner sleeve of the LP? I remember I could never figure them out, either. Just sounded like underwater babbling.
Certainly are - i still have my original gate-fold sleeve vinyl copy which sounds much better than any CD remaster! Still can't hear all the lyrics though as they're sung over each other - the human ears just can't cope:)
@Blade1310 Vinyl really does sound great. I recently purchased the Beatles remastered CD's, and upon first listen to "Revolver" (stereo), my first thought was, "Wow! This sounds as good as my old vinyl!" Ok, back to YES.....
It starts in D major, goes through, uh, G dorian ("Coins and crosses..."), then A major ("And you and I climb over..."), then modulates (the instrumental section) through C, G, D, and A major (three bars each) before reaching E major, where it stays for the rest of this clip (and most of what's missing), until the final section (Apocalypse), which is in B major.
pat moraz is playing a leaner mellotron sound at the end- a little different twist to this very high vibration music...I actually saw Jon Anderson losing molecular structure as he nearly ascended out of this dimension at an early YES concert in Houston- 1972.
I seen them the first time in 1978 and the shows Yes concerts I went to in the 1990's were just as incredible if not more so. Like a fine wine they just got better with age, especially once they got back to their core members.
I love Moraz's work. But, & You & I without Rick.......jeez-o-pete, no, not the best. The band I was in even did an acoustic version of this, with me soloing on my Minimoog, and I even stole lines from Wakeman, just to keep it real. You've got to play it your own way, yes, but, it has GOT to be in the same vein as the original, IMHO.
While we all expect and miss Rick's parts here, overall Moraz plays all the songs well and retains his own style. Thie mixes are questionable on the clips I've seen, which detrcts from the overall experience. White is a little cymbal heavy too, which hurts tehm somewhat. That's splitting hairs, because all yes is worth exploring.
Memorabili...:))

Anderson, Squire, Howe, and Wakeman.
How in the hell did nature bring these four together??
Seriously. It's a mystery.

Yes, it`s a mystery. We should be glad about it. :)

You`re right: Anderson is brilliant. Did you ever listen to his solo performances ? They`re truly inspiring as well.
