AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO SEARCH [iretrobaby-im on one freestyle]...15 YEAR OLD RAPPER WITH A KOOL ASS FREESTYLE GETTIN THOUSANDS OF VIEWS BY THE MINUTE! I CANT BELIEVE YOU GUYS HAVENT HEARD IT! GO SEARCH IT UP RITE NOW FOR PROOF
Ha Ha! Thought I might learn something useful about the great BM from this. Try the 'Transcribe audio' option. From around 0.35 you get, and I quote "that's usually think he's a citizen in excellent health, individuals was founded on the thirteenth, things and it's his place to loose species because you used to associate with, so let's listen in.....' It's like the Monty Python Hungarian to English Dictionary! Beta YouTube? Yeah right. This is Zeta!
I would love to have a copy of this on DVD, hopefully with English subtitles :-). Great footage and production regardless of my disability at language. Thanks so much for posting.
that wouldn't make sense because in his interviews during this video he says how he has said goodbye to his self-destructive behaviors..and some of his elegies are about that...if you watch the whole video, you'll see what i'm talking about :)
I've always felt that his music cheered up in the early 2000s and he sounded a lot happier from then on. By the time I first saw him live he sounded positively happy although I gather at that point he was recently married and his wife had just had a baby which I suppose would leaven most people's moods. A lot of the early trio stuff - i.e. late 90s - is really dark (to my ears)
I agree with you, and as you might already be well aware of, in another part of this doc he talks about getting sober...I'm sure that was probably a huge factor in this change. Nice post!
"He doesn't seperate between entertaining and serious music. His musical influences reach from Brahms and Schubert to Radiohead, Nick Drake, Coltrane, Monk and LedZeppelin. Continuously he searches through poesie, books and the city's streets. With his music he first of all dips into his inner worlds.
In January 1999 the already legendary trio with bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jorge Rossy recorded part 4 of "L'art de Trio" titled "Live in Village Vanguard". Some weeks earlier Mehldau came to Berlin to prepare his first Solo Album."
I guess its the first time I hear him talk actually. He kinda sounds like Jeff Buckley when he speaks. Sounds like a thinking, and maybe a not so happy person. Very beutiful, insanly beautiful...
its only the first 40 seconds that are in german and if you listen closely you'll here that he mentions the songwriters he covers and the people he plays with...
Fuck that rapper

I love his playing...but could do with out his philosophizing.(album inserts etc.) A little too narcissistic for my taste.

Brad's insights directly effect his playing. It's impossible to separate the two. That's the point of this documentary. Brilliant.

Great point!

I'm inclined to agree with "jiggity"... Haven't read the album inserts, but in this documentary.

Nick Drake was reincarnated as this man.
