When I was taking lessons, my bass teacher taught me a method of plucking where the thumb rests over top of the strings when you are playing rather than on the pick up. Have you ever done that before? I find it makes it much easier to mute unwanted strings.
@sammysosa2454 I do sometimes yes, though I find it easier to mute the strings with my left hand, plus I get more support using my pickup :) Good advice though - I taught myself so my technique is probably all 'wrong'!
@SolomonKLL Resting your thumb on the (neck, if available) pickup is the suggested method by many bassists such as Billy Sheehan, Steve Rodby, and Gerald Veasley.
To the ones that look for efficient effects or synth emulator you could try to use a Linux distribution like Tango Studio (the one i use for its compatibility and stability) or Ubuntu Studio and others with real time engine.
Tons of ready to use effects that are include in this OS ... FOR FREE ;-)
Of course you have other OS like Windows, Mac OS but you will loose the benefit to use these softwares for free.
@TRANSFIGraduate How much are you willing to spend? if it's under £200, look for a cheap Fender or Yamaha. Any more than that, have a look at Ibanez or Vintage ones - that's my opinion anyway :)
Thumbs up! Great Cover! You should put some of your videos on AntGiant.com This will give you some more spins and a chance to get paid for your video links! So ya check it out!!
Sounds like you're playing under water.

You did great !!! but maybe your tone will be better if you didn't rest your thumb on the pick up.
SolomonKLL 1 week ago
@SolomonKLL It makes no difference :P All that makes a difference is where my fingers actually are along the strings :)
