Oh... it does if you know the entire libretto of the work. Its rather affecting. In my humble opinion. However, frnach oprea is not to my taste (in general). The soprano singing her (Mangy Mesple) really is the best Lakme in modern recordings. Dessey is also wonderful..I prefer a more Robust and powerful music. Kind regards my dear friend in music.
