You seem to hate a lot of the work you do, but you should try being proud of it and rather than looking at the flaws, look at the best parts and just tell yourself that you'll try harder and harder until you're content.

When you say mess up, do you mean smearing or ink blotches? chances are..every pen has their bad points, you just need t learn to manipulate them. the pen i'm using isnt even a good pen, if you were to look at this picture scanned and up close...you'd see so many mistakes and unsmooth lines =p
its some of that and also that they will ork fine for about five minutes and then they just stop working, so I'll wait for a while and just sorta scribble circles on the side until the ink starts working again! and it was a brand new pen too. and you know how whe you first get one how you need to sorta get it ready? because if you just use it the ink gets all...stiffy? like it'll come out in random spurts? yeah well i do that, and the next day it still wont work too well :(

Instead of using a pen that uses gel ink, try a pen that uses liquid ink, the kinda ink that has little viscosity and bleeds through the paper if you leave it on the spot for too long. I use V5 precision pilot pens where the head looks like a lead pencil so it draws sharply. it's an office pen, but it does the job. i don't really use "art pens" so i have no idea what THOSE kinda pens are called. although i think Mark crilley uses "art" pens, but i'm sure which ones.
I wanna color it LOL I tried to take the color out of it but it was an epic failure many of the main important lines were whited out....can I have a picture?

it's just a regular office pen, nothing fancy. you dont need a fancy pen to make good artwork =)
but if you insist, it's a Pilot: Precise V5 rolling ball pen in extra fine.
