oh my!!! this is really good. Ive always loved the sound of plucked strings and this is superb. I can see myself as a child just watching these men in absolute awe. I dont know what the other thing is called..the wide one..board like instrument. and even as he was just trying to tune the strings, it didnt sound off...like it was part of the music... the other thing that amazes me is that they're like a bunch of old friends having a lot of fun during their siesta...just like here in Philippines.
I'm curious as to where these guys are playing. It looks like a wayside cafe on the outskirts of town. But I still don't quite get it, is it a celebration? One thing is certain; if I had stumbled upon this performance on a casual country walk it would have been an experience of a lifetime. shokran, ευχαριστώ πολύ.
el moros, what a beautiful culture that we have , we should embrace it more and not let other cultures invade ours. a video like this is what makes me look back to my roots and take a deep breath and say we still exist, well sort of.
Your RUDE comment on my video will only spark more interest in it, so thank you for posting.

beautiful! at last, authentic arabic music. whenever i try to find arabic music i always come across silly plastic surgery obsessed women with zero talent and who are only notable for being pathetic pale imitations of white women. may these true mucisians share their traditional art with the world!
what are the ancestries of Morrocan music? Is it really Arabic? Also I love it becuase I can here how this has alot of influence on my Flamenco, especially Zambra
the beginning was Greek, and then we can see the man on the dulcimer re-tune some of the strings before he went on to play the North African/Arab melody.
He has to re-tune because music in the Middle East (including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya) will often include notes that don't exist in Western music scales. Especially Egypt & Saudi Arabia.
awesome music.....we use oud in somalia tooo...but not this one.

It sounds arabo-andalousian or even spanish-andalusian. Nice to see a moroccan kanoun player, it seems there aren't many of them in Maghreb.

Actually he must switch the microtones on the Qanun for each maqam (scale) it's not Greek its Andalucian music.

there was no greek in that it was all pure arabic
