Very fun, but you stole my idea! I had the same setup, but I bet mine would spank yours! Mine is 1/4th the weight of yours with a custom balsa wood frame and no ugly shroud. What was your time? Mine was 1.7075s on a 40' track (I think??), which is 289 mph, whatever that means???

Obviously, I don't think you stole my idea, the hobby shop guy showed me the same ducted fan motor. I do like the outlaw title better, we just called it open class.

That ain't cheating at all. Clearly, this shoe was made to be extravagant and in a league of its own, or no league at all. I never would have imagined it had a ducted fan in the back of it. Almost thought it had rocket engines or something with all that explosive speed it had. Does the fan run constantly? Looked like it only turned on once you hit the straight.

My childhood Pinewood Derby car is the fastest car on Earth ! It is the GRX, from Speed Racer. Even if it is not the fastest, it is fast, won the race and won a medal. My GRX actually raced against a Mach 5, beat the Mach 5, won the race, and won a medal. My Pinewood Derby GRX is my avatar.

Outlaw rules are set by the Pack / Dist / Council. Not all the same.

Some are wide open..  no regulations or weights... ck first to save future problems

Its an outlaw race dude. Outlaw cars cant exceed 10 oz and you can put on whatever you want if its 10 oz or under.

I used the same trick to win our packs "man derby" I did mine fast and dirty using a normally closed held open switch, and a bosh 10.8 volt battery. I like the refinement on yours.

That is a perfect sleeper pwd car! Did the back of the shoe open up to vent out the fan thrust?

Yes, the back of the shoe flipped up and out. The front was held together with shoe laces, so there was a great path for the air flow. And the ducted fan was impossible to see through the laces.
