my grandfather was soldier during in korean war. he said when he first arrive in korea he sudden heared something some korean singing arirang and he smile because he likes peaceful music like arirang. after decades my grandfather still remember arirang until now.

The song itself tells about a girl who sees her lover walk away, and she hopes he will return to her, mainly asking Arirang to make sure he does by making it impossible for him to leave her. This song is very traditional in Korea, sort of like the second national anthem.
