Mmm, I'd say you seem to have your bases covered. Although I'd say try FFX-2 (Final Fantasy 10- 2) if you haven't already. It is often overlooked, and some guys have an issue with it being female protagonists, but it is a very good game - of course it was born of FFX, so it would have to be. The battle system is better than X's, too. But make sure you play Rogue Galaxy... it is wicked. As if you need me to tell you that though...it's PIRATES in SPACE. What more do you want? :)
Too old...nonsense! I'll be 40 this year and I love Rogue Galaxy. Don't let society dictate when you stop playing games, or certain types of games. Just because there are 18 certificate games, it doesn't mean you're duty bound to start playing them. I play any game that is FUN to play.

No need to compare Rogue Galaxy to FF12--they are 2 of the best RPGs on the PS2 and along with Dragon Quest 8, Dark Cloud 2, and Persona 4 they round out the top 5. :)
This game's story was childish,the battle system gets boring the past 10 hours,you even don't have to think anymore(just use the abilities,and it's over,even against the secret bosses it's like this)and the characters sucked(please,the demi-human dog and that guy who looked like Ershin from BoFIV sucked).FFXII had the gambits at least,the mark hunts were better(Gilgamesh and TricksterFTW) and the story was not so predictable.
I liked the fact that you could jump and swim,though.
@ShuyinGamer I know FF12 can be a lot boring sometimes,mainly because of the necessity to keep changing the gambits and all,or even because of the random chests(it's sooo boring to get Zodiac Spear), but overall,the battle system looks nicer to me because it's not the same smash buttom RG had, and it's the same ATB Final Fantasy always had.(Prefer X-2 battle system though)
The factory creation mode was genius though. Liked the fact that some costumes changed your appearance too.

This game is hard, in fact, you can be defeated very easy when battle. The enemies do a lot of damage, and, except if you be a kind of guy who stay in an area for hour, fighting foes to earn a lot of money and exp. and level up as well, hereafter be strong enough to kill the fiends with one blow and be able to buy a bunch of healing itens from the shopkeeper, so, in this case, you can say the opposed. And, yes, I already beat the game.
Oh wow, the burning strikes occur on the field in the original Japanese version? Aside from activating randomly, that would have been interesting to have in the North American version/ Japanese Director's cut.
12 has better story line,more character progression,less tedious bosses,better graphics and the battle system is more refined, but this game has a more free battle system and better combo moves and stuff, i still think overall that 12 is better...about rouge galaxy has me in the same place for like 5 hours before i can move on and then the boss can kill me in one hit every time thats some bullshit
FF12 is complete shit. The ff series will never be the same thanks to the developer leaving Squarenix. But who could really blame him? Think he has some other company called Mistwalker or some shit now. Believe they developed The Lost Odyssey, which is a great game.

I liked this game more than Final Fantasy XII. And I had experience with Final Fantasy XII, I had over 900+ hours of gameplay, with at least one of each weapon and I was ABOUT to start hunting Yiazmat ;-D I never really had a threat of death in FF, I could easily just toss a phoenix down on my fainted party members and I could easily just select offensive options and win the battle. Rogue Galaxy gave me a challenge I haven't seen since the SNES era, I love this game, but that's my opinion.

All of the Shin Megami Tensei titles for the ps2; Rogue Galxy, FFX and Dragon Quest VIII are propably the best RPGs on the ps2. Still many more awesome games, but with those titles, you cant do much wrong.
Agreed...and that's exactly the reason why my PS2 is the most used console in my house. In fact my current gen machines get knocked back further still, as Gamecube is the second most used. PS2 is like a dream come true for fans of JRPG's. Then there's the non-RPG ground-breaking stuff like Ico, SotC and MGS 2 & 3. Best console ever. I even bought a spare boxed/sealed PS2 console when they were selling them off and stuck it in my loft...I'm that that scared of mine breaking.
i'm just like you. my ps2 also gets more love than my current gen systems. lol. I haven't bought a new ps2 yet, but I plan to do so because i'm scared that my currenty one may break someday. Good thing they are cheap and I can afford a back up ps2.
Last couple of times I've used my PS3 is to play The God of War Collection, which are basically PS2 games spruced up in HD. And the game I'm most stoked for is the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection... again, PS2 games. Although I must admit to liking Uncharted 1 and 2 and a small few others, but PS2 is still the most used console for me. The dumbing down of Final Fantasy XIII was the last straw for me...I went straight back to playing FFX/FFXII/Rogue Galaxy.
I can believe that this was a FF12 killer, I just bought this (haven't played it yet) and it looks so much better than FF12 (worst in the series in my opinion).
Unfortunately something tells me this game didn't receive nearly as much credit as it deserved...

I played FF from first to the fourteenth, and all I can say, is XII is not a big deal, like other FF games. VII and X was the big deal :) they're still in my heart...
And I played Rogue Galaxy too, and thats a big deal too :D must play it, it's battle system, story, and everything else is so perfect! Not mentioned drawn graphics yet... its my favorite :)
further commet . being able to push the x button to use your sword instead of waiting for a yellow bar to fill up then you swing and its automatic , really sucked in ff 12 , thats one reason among many why rouge galaxy is a much more fun action rpg than ff 12 .
ff xii was not an action rpg. the battle style was an integration of real time into the world map gameplay. the only difference between ffxii and the other ff games that used a real time battle system is that here the enemies show up on the same map as the traveling characters, so battles occur seamlessly

I liked 10 alot other than bltizball superlame. But the rob zombie music played on the last boss made up for it. I liked ff12 aeons dungeons hidden stuff but i hated the ending and judges and ships lol

I liked this game more than Final Fantasy XII. And I had experience with Final Fantasy XII, I had over 900+ hours of gameplay, with at least one of each weapon and I was ABOUT to start hunting Yiazmat ;-D I never really had a threat of death in FF, I could easily just toss a phoenix down on my fainted party members and I could easily just select offensive options and win the battle. Rogue Galaxy gave me a challenge I haven't seen since the SNES era, I love this game, but that's my opinion.

ff12 is so much better than RG simply cuz RG is a game with lots of restrictions...if u think RG is open world...no its not...the only thing you can do in RG with not much restrictions is the alchemy stuff...where you combine items...buy ff12 instead...ff12 will never be killed by something small like RG...this is a stupid topic...the poster of this vid maybe a 8year old kid who hates the whole ff series cuz he is so stupid to understand the story...

How is character development in this game? Do you get to choose classes, being damage dealer/healer/tank? Because I didn`t like the FFXII`s everyone-is-all-round system.

i love ff12 battle system, btw, it annoysd me when people complain about gambits, YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE GAMBITS. it's optional. you can play it like any normal ff game if you want. anway, about rogue galaxy, im really torn about whether to get this game or not, it looks cool but it seems like theres so much wrong with it...

a month late... but you definetly should get this game, i have to say the music story and chracters are top notch, its a great game and if you need chanllange their is a whole lot of side quests, any way a great game, one of he top action rpg for ps2.

All of the Shin Megami Tensei titles for the ps2; Rogue Galxy, FFX and Dragon Quest VIII are propably the best RPGs on the ps2. Still many more awesome games, but with those titles, you cant do much wrong.

Agreed...and that's exactly the reason why my PS2 is the most used console in my house. In fact my current gen machines get knocked back further still, as Gamecube is the second most used. PS2 is like a dream come true for fans of JRPG's. Then there's the non-RPG ground-breaking stuff like Ico, SotC and MGS 2 & 3. Best console ever. I even bought a spare boxed/sealed PS2 console when they were selling them off and stuck it in my loft...I'm that that scared of mine breaking.

i'm just like you. my ps2 also gets more love than my current gen systems. lol. I haven't bought a new ps2 yet, but I plan to do so because i'm scared that my currenty one may break someday. Good thing they are cheap and I can afford a back up ps2.

Last couple of times I've used my PS3 is to play The God of War Collection, which are basically PS2 games spruced up in HD. And the game I'm most stoked for is the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection... again, PS2 games. Although I must admit to liking Uncharted 1 and 2 and a small few others, but PS2 is still the most used console for me. The dumbing down of Final Fantasy XIII was the last straw for me...I went straight back to playing FFX/FFXII/Rogue Galaxy.

I can believe that this was a FF12 killer, I just bought this (haven't played it yet) and it looks so much better than FF12 (worst in the series in my opinion).
Unfortunately something tells me this game didn't receive nearly as much credit as it deserved...

Anyways.. back to the subject at hand. Rogue Galaxy is a good game. Offeres a nice challange... artwork in my book is pretty sweet to.
With FF XII, I still love the game... one of my fav's... but story had some holes.

I played FF from first to the fourteenth, and all I can say, is XII is not a big deal, like other FF games. VII and X was the big deal :) they're still in my heart...
And I played Rogue Galaxy too, and thats a big deal too :D must play it, it's battle system, story, and everything else is so perfect! Not mentioned drawn graphics yet... its my favorite :)

further commet . being able to push the x button to use your sword instead of waiting for a yellow bar to fill up then you swing and its automatic , really sucked in ff 12 , thats one reason among many why rouge galaxy is a much more fun action rpg than ff 12 .

ff xii was not an action rpg. the battle style was an integration of real time into the world map gameplay. the only difference between ffxii and the other ff games that used a real time battle system is that here the enemies show up on the same map as the traveling characters, so battles occur seamlessly
