1. I knew ahead of time that I wanted to do a time lapse video, so yes.
2. That's because the scene as a whole has extra details in it that you would never put in a normal hl2 map. This map in it's current state would never be playable for the player to walk around in.
3. You should look up Dear Esther. That mod has truly taken the source engine to the next level.
basically that means that you need to recompile navigational data for the Ai. If you have changed geometry since the last time you've done this, it asks you to rebuild it again.
Fantastic! I'm amazed with how many incarnations you go through to get the final result. Kinda makes me feel lazy - since I probably would use the first half-decent version.
Great job!
Its fantastic!

How'd you make the aperture beauty shop sign? Were you able to do it in Hammer?
LexOnTheWeb 3 years ago
It was modeled out in 3ds max 7, but! you can make it in hammer. It would just take a lot longer and wouldn't look as good

im a mapper and im wondering how you did the "wave crashing against the rocks" effect. is that an entity or did you just animate some model?

So how long did this take? I mean all this work for just a background version must make working on the real thing quite a hardship ;)

That's usually how it is in the industry, you put 110% effort into everything you are assigned. :)
