Great video! Bravo, National Geographic quality. I love the sound of the distant storm, and near by rain drops. The video really makes you feel there with the salamander. 5 Stars.
@GeorgieZillaFan If you knew what you were doing and spent a lot of time and effort maintaining a terrarium I bet not only you could get them to thrive but I bet you could get them to breed...........not everyone has that kind of talent, patience, and money however. Some really good ultraviolet lights. Some misting, the right vegetation (i'm thinking sphagnum moss) Some pieces of walnut bark to keep the fungus down. And then the diet. Some really healthy night crawlers and other stuff.
@skatertechdeck That's not true. The Giant Japanese Salamander is the largest amphibian in the world, and it has only be documented to 5ft, which is one that is in captivity in a zoo or aquarium.
Nice vid. There are two categories of "largest salamander:" aquatic and terrestrial. This is one of the largest terrestrial salamanders, along with the Tiger Salamander (both up to around 13 inches long, although by bulk I think these may be bigger).
does anyone know where i can find a sound clip of a CHINESE giant salamender crying or barking?

these things are no joke. They can actually deliver a painful bite. You wouldnt expect that from an amphibian.

It's been a while, but if I remember correctly, the body was about 6-8 inches long with another 5-7 for the tail.

Yeah, actually, it is a giant salamander. It's sort of an overstatement, but that's the common name of salamanders in the family Dicamptodontidae.

Not to be a jerk or anything but the largest salamanders live in China and Japan and can grow to almost 6 feet in length.
