  • The owl rocks. You should have taken more footage of him.

Those volcanic rocks are basalts of Quaternary age. (Source: Calif Div of Mines & Geology Bulletin #188 - 'Geology of the Fremont Peak and Opal Mountain Quadrangles' by T W Dibblee.) I know where you guys were hiking: north of Harper Valley and east of Fremont Peak in the vicinity of the Mud Hills and Rainbow Basin.

  • Google-earthing. That's what's called a neologism.

  • I appreciated seeing the lost chasm falls where the water use to run..... .. .. -:- . ... .. .

Looks like you put Desert Dog Canyon on the Map!

  • Judging by the video I'm guessing "Desert Dog Canyon" is to the west of Opal Mtn, and must run generally north/south (as everything drains that way out there)....that would put it in the middle of Black Mtn. I "googlearthed" it but can't quite figure out where it is. Hmmmmm time for another trip I suppose. Thanks for the great video.

  • The canyon you visited with the petros looks a lot like Fossil Falls off the 395,

  • @mobiltec - It sure does! We were saying the same thing when we came across it.
